Unfortunately the night was a bit of a…read moreblur, so I don't remember the names of any of the doctors or vet techs that worked on my pup, but they were all amazing (especially the vet tech who was my dog's primary caregiver, who was constantly checking in on me in a very traumatic situation. Although I told her I was fine, she made sure I had a comfortable place to sit and be with my dog, and got me blankets and a pillow that she told me to keep with me). The doctors were always extremely honest and transparent about outcome possibilities. They diagnosed my dog very quickly, and never outwardly broke a sweat or seemed nervous while stabilizing him. I was most impressed by the "transport service" that they provided to the ICU at the nearby major animal hospital which had more diagnostic equipment and had specialized surgeons should he end up needing that care - they arranged everything, were in communication with that hospital to make sure the medical handoff went smoothly, and then transported my dog in a van with vet techs to ensure he would remain stable. The vet techs who helped with transport insisted I keep the pillow and blankets which came in handy as I spent the night in the ICU, and were all incredibly sympathetic. Unfortunately my pup didn't make it but it was through absolutely no fault of VEG, and it is to their credit that he held on long enough to get to the ICU where we were able to discover exactly what was wrong with him and then help him pass a little more easily than he would have otherwise. My heartfelt thanks to whoever worked on Julius at the time (June 5), and especially his main vet tech. I wish I could remember her name, but she was such a comforting presence to have by my side on a night where I was given some awful news about my furry family member.

The doctor who saw us was going to prescribe and oral but they didn't have it in stock so sent us home with topical and reassured me that it should be enough despite the fact she was going to prescribe the oral if they had had it. DID NOT MENTION they could call in a prescription since they didn't have it in stock there at all. The topical was not enough. I called back to get the oral they were originally going to give and they toldme they could not prescribe it unless I came in for another (of the same visit) just bc the doctor that saw her wasn't there. I asked when she'd be back so I could work with her given that she was going to prescribe the oral anyways. They told me they didn't know and after pressing them told me she wouldn't be in for a month! A clear lie. They refused to prescribe the oral for my sick and getting sicker by the day cat unless I saw them for the same exact exam she had already given even tho THEY at the same location had already seen her and the ONLY limiting factor was they didn't have it in stock. They did NOT tell me that they could call it into another pharmacy as my initial option. Compleltly unhelpful and trying to scam money for more visits that they could have treated upfront. They do not care about the animals here they want you to be forced into coming back for more money.

They helped diagnose my beloved cat Achilles with a shockingly advanced cancer. It took multiple tests and procedures in under 24-hours, and they had to deliver a result no one wants to hear. Throughout the process the staff treated me and my cat with such care and dignity. After the initial x-rays, the head vet took the time to acknowledge how painful and shocking it was. Every member of their staff was so genuine. One of the nurses told me she loved that my cat had a mix of black and pink toe pads. Another shared stories of the puppy who would be the last overnight neighbor my cat had. When we went to say goodbye to Achilles, he had a pink paint mark on his forehead that another staff member explained was lipstick from an overnight nurse who kisses all her patients. Our euthanasia nurse made him a plate of cheese, mousse pate, and little crunch treats before he had to go. I am so glad he was so loved in his last hours. Was it expensive, yes. There's a wider conversation here about prices that staff don't set themselves, and pet care in America. But for anyone in dire straits with a pet that needs help, no one here judged me. If he had recovered, I think they would have been cheering right alongside me.

Uxbridge Animal Hospital did an amazing job making one of the worst days of our lives a little easier. We recommended them to all the pet owners we know. We adopted another dog soon after, Charlie. Charlie was loved unconditionally and was treated with the same love that we give his 6-month-old (human)brother. He was outside all day every day with my husband- he spent a lot of time training him, he even trained him to track in the woods. We had a crate set up in our room for him, but he slept in bed with us every night. When we first got Charlie, he had very sad eyes. We were able to change that. Unfortunately, Charlie chewed on a piece of plastic that he shouldn't have. His chewing was actually our biggest concern during his last checkup. We bought him all sorts of chew toys, and I would buy him bone marrow bones from the butcher in hopes it would keep him busy. We tried to make sure he wasn't able to get anything dangerous, but accidents do happen. Charlie became really sick all of a sudden. We called Uxbridge animal hospital and told them it was an emergency first thing in the morning. They said they couldn't get us in until 4:15pm. As Charlie was getting worse, we called back in hopes that they would get us in sooner. That did not happen. We arrived a few minutes early to our appointment. We had to sit with him in our car 15 minutes after our appointment was supposed to start. We waited another 20 minutes in the room before we were seen. When the Veterinarian arrived, she diagnosed him with having a blockage based on the samples we brought with us. We were already heartbroken because we knew given our financial situation, we would have to make a decision we didn't want to make. The vet told us that it was going to cost upward of $5,000. I don't know anyone that has that money on hand-especially the way things are right now. When the vet said she knew someone that takes in animals and will pay for their surgery, but they will find him a new home after, we agreed. He had a whole life to live so we thought it would be the best option for him. The vet said it was a woman she knew personally that raises money so she can afford to pay for what Charlie needed. We specifically asked what our options were-we were never informed that there are grants we could have applied for or even a payment plan option. The next morning while our family was already having an extremely hard time not having Charlie home with us, I received a message from a woman that works for the adoption agency we got him from. She said "we got OUR dog back. How dare you surrender him because he needed surgery. I have placed you in the do not adopt list. You do not deserve another animal." I did not know that I would be discriminated against by this adoption agency because my family is unable to immediately afford a surgery of that cost. Especially when resources that could have helped were never told to us. If that is the case, then I suppose the agency should be looking further into everyone's finances before they are able to adopt. I was unaware that money is more important than being able to provide a loving home. I feel I was lied to by the vet about where he was going. I feel that the options that were given to us by the vet were misleading and information that could have helped us was hidden from us. We want nothing more than to have Charlie back home with us. I will NEVER recommend Uxbridge Animal Hospital to another person again.

He saved my life many times over, I adopted him when I was still active duty in the Marine Corps. The last few months were tough, I'd equate it to hospice for a dog. I dreaded making the decision, and I came close at least 6 times but every time I said give it one more day he would bounce back, go for a walk, do his business, eat, drink, ask for treats. This morning I woke up and I felt something was different. He wasn't moving well, he didn't finish his food, and then his head was stuck turning to the left at almost a 90 degree angle and he fell on the floor like that. I picked him up and laid him down on his other side on my lap hoping he just had a bad cramp, but after an hour I tried putting him down in front of his water and he collapsed. I held him for another 30 minutes and then he had an intense seizure for at least a minute, his whole body was tensed and stretched out, and his mouth was wide open gasping for air. He came through the seizure but he had no strength in any of his legs - even at his worst in the months prior when he bounced back he could at least support himself on his front legs, but he had no strength and his breaths were long and slow. I dreaded making this decision, but I couldn't allow him to suffer. I called a few vets in the area and no one could take us. One of the last vets I called recommended I reach out to VEG. I called them, they said they could help. I walked in and was immediately brought into a private room with my dog. The receptionist, the nurses, and the doctor were so comforting during one of the hardest times of my life. I'm going to bed tonight without my best friend for the first time in 16 years, but the compassion that the staff shared with me knowing it had to happen was above and beyond. I don't know if I'll ever have another dog, but if I do this would be my go to veterinarian for any issues. And I hope no one has to make the decision for your animal, but if you do, I give the VEG staff the highest recommendation I possibly could. Thank you and your team for your compassion on one of the worst days of my life. God bless you all.

She was a frequent flier to the vet and had to get monthly allergy injections to keep her comfortable. After being on a prescription hydrolyzed protein food for a while, she was having a hard time. Our vet suggested we see a Dermatologist. Enter Dr. Painter. I should have played the lottery the day we went to see her because it was for sure a lucky day. We met over the phone due to Covid. Never having met face-to-face, she listened to all the ups and downs for our dog. She never made me feel like a burden or bother - she was engaged and genuinely interested. Post our chat and our dog's in-person visit - Dr. Painter easily laid out a plan for her. She had seen other dogs like ours and recommended a new food and additional interventions. Our dog was in excellent hands. As if we needed additional proof, most recently, our dog ended up in the ER with her most severe allergic reaction ever. Unfortunately, the ER doctor was a generalist and couldn't pinpoint the issue. So, I emailed Dr. Painter photos of the breakout without a second thought. Within a few minutes, she responded with a diagnosis and intervention. Our dog was made comfortable and in stable condition. We followed up with Dr. Painter and now understand the issue and a long-term care plan for our dog. We are glad Dr. Painter came back to the East Coast and that she can be a part of our dog's care.
