We could not have asked for a better person to provide euthanasia services for our dogs. She attended to our 14 and 13 year old ridgebacks some years apart, one just a few days ago. Betsy is technically skillful but also extraordinarily compassionate, understanding, soft spoken and gentle toward both our beloved dogs and the family members present for our dogs' final moments, one on a familiar couch and one on the grass in the yard he so enjoyed. I was absolutely devastated having to say goodbye to my beloved pet, and instead of compassion, I was met with coldness and dismissal. Our fur baby, Panini, was nearing the end of his fight with lymphoma and we made the decision to say goodbye to him at home, where he could be with us and our other kitty in his familiar surroundings. We reached out to Betsy and planned for her to come the afternoon the next day; immediately, on the phone, I was soothed by her calm, compassionate manner and knew Panini would be in good hands. However, when the vet tech at the hospital that my family has used for over 45 years told me that she had used Dr. Johnson herself just 2 weeks prior & only glowing reviews, I knew I should call. Wow, what a difference Dr. Betsy is from our experience with decades of hospital vets. Dr. Betsy first came to see Edie, our 15 year old pug, when Edie was having a wide range of problems and we were fed up with our previous vet. She spent almost an hour with Edie in our home, no vet-visit insanity. She did a fantastic job, spot-on diagnosis, and prescribed to make Edie more comfortable. Edie did well for a whole year, with Dr. Betsy coming back to check up on her in the middle, adjusting meds dosage and making sure Edie wasn't in pain. Christmas Eve and Christmas day, Edie appeared to have 2 cardiac events and put us in a panic. The day after Christmas Dr. Betsy came and determined Edie's heart was failing and we decided it was time. Dr. Betsy was so gentle and supportive, of both Edie and us, and we can't thank her enough. Edie went quietly in my wife's arms. We are heartbroken, but the experience was incomparably more humane and respectful than our experiences in Brookline, Angell, or Mass.
