From one of Mike's daily videos: Merlin the black Lab taking up most of the screen
    Nicole W.

Mike has been taking care of Merlin the Lab for over three years. I first tried a dog boarding business that could take in 50 dogs: I figured they would never be booked up. Except Merlin got kennel cough there! I never worry about Merlin when Mike takes care of him, and that is priceless. Merlin is an 80-pound high-energy tank and he can get overexcited when he's with other dogs, but Merlin is always calm when he's with Mike! I think Mike takes in about 10 dogs max; I usually see 5-10 in the daily videos. Boarding price is about the same as dog-sitting businesses (rather than someone doing it on nights / weekends for extra money), but that's what Mike is: a professional. Whether I've booked a month in advance or a few days in advance, Mike always seems available, even in the summer when everyone in New York goes somewhere. He responds very quickly. He sends regular video updates of Merlin and the other dogs. Mike has a car and offers nearby pickup/dropoff for a fee, which I've opted for most times instead of a livery cab or Zipcar.

Mike taking Lexi and fellow boarders to the park. As you can see, they were very tired from the day's fun activities.

Mike has been our one-and-only go-to dog boarder for our now 2-year-old Lexi, a 20-lb American Eskimo. Mike is nothing short of amazing and is everything you'd want of someone who is watching over your pup while you are away. We have brought Lexi to Mike since she was a pup of a few months old. We initially brought her to Mike thinking that he would not be able to take care of her as she usually was very defensive towards strangers and sometimes even other dogs. We could not have been more wrong and could not have put her in more capable hands. Mike sent us daily photos and videos of her which gave us peace of mind and that she was, frankly, really happy there. So of course we've gone back to Mike time and again, even on very short notice when we had family emergencies. Lexi always returns home well exercised, clean, and happy. Each time we've always learned something new about dog behavior as Mike is extremely knowledgable and provides helpful advice and training tips to help us build our bond even more with our pup and work on unwanted habits. Thank you to Mike for all your hard work and for taking care of Lexi over the past couple years! We'll see you soon!

We boarded our then 8 month old pitty with Mike for a week, while I was away for work. Mike was amazing, from the pre-stay excel document to understand Bruno, to the videos and pictures he sent to me while we were away was amazing. Bruno came back with better manners than when I dropped him off! I felt so comfortable and was not worried at all about the his care while I was away. I definitely recommend this to anyone, and will be using his services again.

My youngest son and Aphrodite showing love to one another

Mike and his wife were wonderful to our pitbull, Aphrodite. They were always in contact with us during our trip. Pictures and videos featured Aphrodite and her new made friends. She was returned to us happy and full of life. We'd definitely use Mike again.

Toby (Mike & Julie's resident dog) & Bori (My 11 month Pitbull Rescue)
    Jenny C.

My Background: My husband and I adopted a 10 month pitbull (Bori) from the shelter and did not expect the problems she came with. Even though my husband owned shelter pitts his entire life and I luckily married into a trained calm 9 year old pitt (Dooboo), I was not comfortable with this new energy in our apt. When my husband left for work, I would be left alone with this pocket rocket and Dooboo and I would run around the apt chasing after Bori to keep her calm. She would bark uncontrollably at Dooboo and me, pee and poo inside, jump and grab the leash during our walks....Bori was a nightmare. I would have to lock myself and Dooboo in our bedroom because Bori was out of control. I knew we couldn't live like hostages, so I started to seek professional help. I interviewed and emailed dozens of dog trainers, behaviorists, walkers, and doggy care owners and they all shunned me away by diagnosing our new addition as having shelter behavior problems. I asked them for help and they all said they couldn't guarantee any progress despite the high fee. I felt hopeless and didn't want to resort to sending Bori back to the shelter. Mike & Training: Then I remembered Mike. I knew Mike in his former corporate life, however, I did not know the extent of his new business or his capability. As I explained my situation, he was very optimistic and wanted to meet Dooboo & Bori so he could assess the issue. Even though his business is in Queens, he was willing to come out to the city to help. In a matter of hours Mike fixed the bone aggression, barking, and leash pulling. He also helped me set boundaries in the apt and helped respect Dooboo. I was amazed at how he transformed Bori. Then I realized it wasn't Bori...it was me. The fact that Bori was perfect with Mike showed me that I wasn't being a good pack leader. So I booked some sessions with Mike so I could learn how to: hold the leash properly when there were distractions (ie. dogs, pigeons, squirrels, etc.), crate train, clicker train and obedience train. I was more confident since Mike showed me what the dogs needed in me. It's amazing what a couple of hours can do to a person and their dog. Bori is constantly complimented in our neighborhood because she is so well behaved and they're shocked that she's been out of the shelter for less than 3 weeks. Boarding: Mike was the only person we trusted to leave Bori with while we were away for 9 days. My husband and I did a test car ride with her to see how she would handle a car ride. She was barking, panicking, and trying to run to the front of the passenger seat of the car. We warned Mike when he came to pick her up and surprisingly Mike said she was a perfect angel when he arrived home. He sent us a video clip and we were amazed. Bori was sitting still in the car and just looking out the window. He then sent us more clips of the first night in boarding and showed us her introduction to the rest of the dogs. We were afraid of this because she tends to be aggressive in dog parks. We saw the video clip and she was interacting and wagging her tail with all the dogs. No barking at all. All the dogs were sitting still and when Mike cued them to greet Bori, they greeted her so kindly. Julie (Mike's wife) is the most caring woman you will ever meet too. She will provide so much affection and love to your little ones that they will always feel cherished. The only time I saw something like this was on Cesar Milan's tv show. I knew Bori was in VERY good hands and I was able to go on my trip with no worries. Mike has this gift with dogs and is enthusiastic to help and train any owner and their companion. He has this knack of interpreting what the dog is thinking into human-speak so we can understand. Mike has a great sense of humor so training sessions are always fun and interactive. He is always available and has the best rates. The amount of time and care he puts into his clients is refreshing to see. He sets the bar high when it comes to training, boarding, and walking your best friend.

Anthony impressed upon me how important social play is for dogs to PURGE THE ENERGY out. Not going to lie, i LOVE to walk with dogs, and sitting around while THEY play was not my thing. LOL. WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE it has made. Benny is a great walker now (not pulling 90% of the time). He knows how to act when other dogs walk by us as he is rewarded to meet them after behaving! He's doing so well. Still a little touchy on the running toddlers and guarding, but I am confident we'll get there thanks for Anthony's guidance! For context, I have a 2 year old anxious labradoodle named Gus. When he was approached by new people he would aggressively bark and growl. I had worked with another dog trainer for over a year -- his problems just became worse. I became reluctant to do things with Gus because I was fearful he would growl/bark/act inappropriately when meeting new people. I was at my wits end and I consulted with a well respected training program here in NYC that said he was a "moderate to severe case" and would need multiple weeks of boarding training + years of follow up training to address his issues. Anthony solved Gus's problems in 1 session. Yes, 1 session... Within seconds of meeting him, Anthony just "got" Gus. His advice and feedback was completely different from the feedback I got from the other trainers and Gus responded immediately. I am not exaggerating when I say that Gus has not growled or barked at a single stranger since working with Anthony. I have been able to do so much with Gus and he seems so much calmer, happier and more confident than he was before. I only wish I had reached out to Anthony a year and a half ago. TL;DR- Don't waste your time or money with other trainers. Call Anthony today. You will be glad you did.

My husband and I reached out to Sean after he was recommended to us by another dog owner we knew, and after we had worked with four previous trainers with limited success. We were struggling with two very large, male adolescent Chow Shepherd mix littermates, whom we had adopted from a rescue without knowing any of the cautionary tales about raising littermates together and how difficult the training process can be. Before Sean, we primarily received criticism and judgment from trainers rather than actual training techniques and strategies. Sean was undeterred by the fact that we had littermates, and he provided clear guidance and feedback from day one. Our dogs were immediately responsive, and our sessions with Sean completely transformed our communication and relationship with our boys. His patience and insightful feedback really instilled confidence in us as owners of large breed dogs, and we have since received countless comments about how well-behaved our dogs are (which we always attribute to his expert training). Sean has remained such an incredible resource and support system for us and was even there for us when we very unexpectedly lost one of our dogs to hemangiosarcoma earlier this year. We were beyond devastated, and he was a beacon of light during that dark and painful time. I honestly can't recommend him and Walk Dog Talk Dog enough. When I got my pup (Ollie), he was a little scared of other dogs. He would bark at them and go crazy, he will also see certain people and go nuts as well. He also loved to pull and drag me or whoever walked him around. I had already trained him with potty training, but was concerned that his behavior kept getting worse. My neighbor also has a German Shepherd and her dog is insane. She can barely control him and he's also super aggressive. My fear was that Ollie would wind up like that and that I'd have to give him up because I wouldn't be able to control him). After reading a lot of reviews, I contacted Abcs of Dog Training, and spoke to Michael. I was interested in the three week training. Michael was very clear and honest from the start. Seemed to know what he was doing. He agreed to come pick up Ollie. While away, Michael sent me updates. He taught him commands and socialized Ollie. Now when I take him for walks, Ollie never barks at anyone, not even at other dogs. The only time when he barks is when we are inside the home and there's someone approaching the door from the outside. He walks great on the leash, and listens to me. You have to keep on practicing the commands (heel, sit, leave it, lay down, stay, drop it, measure walk, and a few more). I'm extremely grateful for Michael and his training. Training was a bit expensive but so worth it. Michael also offers the two week follow up and is there for any questions you may have before and after the process.

It wasn't the most amazing ever (I wanted him a bit more fluffy, but she did say - and I know this - he hates the blow dryer). The only downside is that if you try to call the store, you probably won't get an answer.
