Wonderful, safe space for pets with very attentive staff. You can tell how much they care.

No one does it like Kate and her team! Daycare - training - they do it all and they're the absolute best in the game!

We love Kate Perry Daycare and we are going to enroll our pup soon in their training programs. Just enrolling our pup, Charlie, in daycare we've noticed huge improvements in her listening skills and her socialization with other dogs. Kate and her team understand what your dog needs and adjust their care appropriately. They help train the pups while they are in daycare. Kate and her amazing team have truly changed our pup for the better! We trust them completely with our pup and we know that when we drop her off, she's getting the best care in the world! Bringing Charlie here was the best thing for her and us! read more

This place is amazing!!! The trainers and staff really care, and the dogs are never left unattended or bored. They added grooming recently and our dog is no longer afraid of baths or grooming and looks terrific afterwards. Thank you, Kate and everyone! read more

Hello, I used Kate's dog training a few years ago. What I want to tell you is what really impressed me about Kate. I don't remember the situation exactly, but I wanted to pay her , and since it wasn"t exactly a training session, she refused payment from me. She is not only dedicated to the dogs but a wonderful ,giving person. Her heart is in the right place. Joan read more

Kate and every member of her team have been terrific in working with my new puppy, covering everything from puppy basics, to socialization, to obedience training, and even helping with some separation anxiety and related challenges. I strongly recommend Kate and her team for any dog training questions or issues! read more

I highly recommend Kate Perry Dog Training. I have done both one on one sessions with Sherri (who is the best!) as well as group classes with Kate. I am so happy with the outcome. My wild pup has really started to settle down and has made leaps and bound in improvement. Kate and her team have not only taught my pup, but also taught me how to teach my pup- an invaluable skill. I am a first time dog mom and was so nervous at first. I am feeling much more confident now and my bond with my dog is closer than ever. I can't wait to learn more from Kate and her team and in turn teach my pup. You will not regret training here. If you're thinking twice don't hesitate and just do it! Best decision you will make in terms of dog life! read more

Kate Perry Dog Training - Lulu, having learned "Sit!" - Pet Training Near Me - New York, New York

Amazing team at Kate Perry Dog Training! We learned so many ways to help our puppy grow up to be safe on the streets of NYC and happy and confident on walks and adventures. Our Rooster Roo loved the classes (and the treats)! If you want a warm and welcoming environment for your dog to learn and grow, Kate Perry Dog Training in Chelsea is the place! read more

Kate and her team have been invaluable assets to our rescue dogs for the past 15 years. She is empathic, understanding and very invested in helping people have the best possible relationship with their dog. My wife and I have been rescuing dogs for many years and Kate has always been there for us. She and her team has helped navigate our first rescue pup who was frightened in most situation and had fear aggression and other difficult behaviors to manage. Through her positive reinforcement approach, our dog Mocha was able to be around friends and family in a way that was positive for all of us. Kate and her training methods were instrumental in making that happen. I recommend her and her classes without any hesitation. Kate is talented, and so knowledgeable with just about any situation you might find yourself in when it comes to dogs!!! read more

My wife and I put three dogs through Kate's classes and programs. Tried and true would be an insult compared to what is actually delivered in terms of education and service. In other words, Kate and her team deliver PAWFECTION! If you adopt a dog, Kate should be your first call!!! read more

Kate and her team (Morgan!) are amazing. We were very nervous to take our 8 week old Corgi puppy Bootsy to his first puppy socialization class, but within the first few minutes we knew we'd made the right decision. Kate and Morgan are amazing, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Bootsy is now 16 weeks old and we have been attending a class (now TWO classes) a week since we got him. He is now in the basic obedience course and we plan to continue onto intermediate classes. We also did a private training with Kate, and we cannot express how caring and patient she is. She went above and beyond the course material and really took her time with us and gave us a wealth of information. It's led us to have an awesome puppy that people stop on the street and remark on how well behaved and sweet he is (for so young a pup!) Obviously, you have to put in the work too. Kate is there to give you the skills and tools but it is up to you to keep up with the training. You can tell from the moment you meet her that she adores dogs and will do everything in her power to help owners become better dog parents. We are so happy to have found her! read more

Kate Perry is the bomb. I found her by researching a bunch of dog training sites and comparing prices in NYC. Before you attend any of Kate's classes, she recommends you contact her so she gets a sense of how your dog will react to other pups. I rescued my dog from a foster group that rescued her from a puppy mill. She was EXTREMELY timid and scared of everything. I brought my 8 month old bichon to every one of her socializing puppy classes for 4 months. My pup totally broke out of her shell and she was ready to move onto Kate's training classes, where she excelled. Kate generally has 2-4 "interns" who are also training to become dog trainers. They're very helpful in answering any questions when Kate is busy. Trust me. When you have your very first pup, you have tons of questions. Kate is also great at seeing the "problem" of any dog and helping the owner address it humanely. She has great recommendations and even offers private training. AND she's AFFORDABLE! She has the best price compared to any other training facility. read more

Kate Perry is a dog whisperer. I wish I had known about her earlier and what it means/how important it is to get your puppy socialized early on. The first class for puppy classes is free! This is great economically, but it's also great because you really know what you're in for. She goes over fundamentals (along with help from other great knowledgeable staff) of puppy-raising and important commands that you should start to work on. As classes progress, she starts to advance certain commands and works with you individually if you're a repeat-attender. I'm so glad I found Kate and I've already recommended her to a lot of puppy owners I know!! read more

As first time puppy owners, we had no idea what to do with our new dog. Kate Perry and team helped us connected with our dog and teach her important skills, but we also got access to other pet parents in a support group environment to deal with all the issues every puppy owner faces. We later took a basic obedience class and used a private session for extreme separation anxiety. Kate and team are excellent! I hope they continue to offer classes for slightly older dogs who want to keep learning. read more

Kate, Morgan and team taught me what it really means to be a responsible dog owner. My pup Betty is almost a year old and is the mayor of my apartment building in the west village due to her temperament, likeability and friendliness with all humans and dogs we pass. They taught me how to teach her which was so beneficial and helpful long term- can't recommend this training enough! Also great for socialization for pups and pup parents to create a community to share stories, pics. Etc thank you Kate and team! read more

Kate Perry Dog Training is the Harvard University of the dog world. Kate is a professor of dogs and their behavior and so too is Helen Buttolph, her assistant. Both Kate and Helen have very unique and different ways to get the best out of your little family member. As a first time dog owner, both Kate and Helen helped me socialize and train our new English Bulldog, Mama. She has become such a reactive and responsive dog that we have now just grown our family by one more....a brother for Mama, a little French Bulldog named François. Thank you, thank you, thank you Kate and Helen. I don't know how I ever lived without these two precious little friends. If you value your puppies / dogs then there really is no other option but to have them trained and integrated into your life and lifestyle by the best trainers available, Kate and Helen. We have been fortunate to have Helen come to our home for private lessons. She is the epitome of a "dog whisperer". She seems to anticipate, understand and encourage our pups to perform. After just three lessons we have two very attentive, responsive and behaved little babies. Helen is PHENOMENAL!!!!!!! read more

I had been carefully planning for the arrival of my second companion in life for many months before going to pick out my new labrador puppy. I travel constantly for work, and planned to have him trained as a service animal so that I could take him on flights with me. I wanted to be sure I started my new friend out on the right foot. In preparation, I had googled "dog trainers" in NYC and Kate's site was one of the first to come up. But it wasn't until, coincidentally, a few weeks later I was at the airport and a young labrador puppy walked past me with his owners through security. I marveled at how calm and trained this little puppy was in the craziness of the airport. He kept his eye on his owners and acted perfectly. I was blown away. "THAT'S WHAT I WANT!" I thought. I walked up to them and said, "Excuse me, but could I ask how you were able to get a puppy of this age so well behaved?" They both exclaimed at the same time "Kate Perry!" I'd remembered the name from my Google search. The rest is history. I emailed Kate's assistant and was immediately contacted to get my new boy enrolled in puppy and group classes as soon as I picked him up. I started him with Kate right at 9 weeks. We went to every puppy class and a full session of group training classes. The knowledge and training was invaluable. At 10 weeks my puppy was flying with me and acting just like the example I'd seen a few months before. Since then we've worked with Kate with private classes and advanced training. My little guy plays dead, gives "high-5's", rolls over, and we've only just started. More importantly than that, he's welcome everywhere we go, because he's so perfectly behaved. He's been to 5 star hotels around the world where dogs aren't normally allowed, and greeted by desk and bell staff that say "Logan is welcome here anytime." The most important thing I've learned from Kate is that 90% of the training is for you, not the dog, and those first few months can be crucial. We still have routine sessions with Kate learning new things every time, and Logan goes nuts when we senses Kate is due for a visit because he knows we're going to be learning AND having fun. I couldn't ask for a better companion and I owe a lot of it to Kate. I can't recommend her highly enough. read more

Kate is truly an animal lover. Whether rescuing a neighbors cat (which I heard really happened) or trying to rehab an aggressive dog her intentions are firmly routed in her love and compassion for animals. Kate is a veteran in the dog training industry. Her experience shows by the number of solutions she has for virtually any situation. Her charisma and enthusiasm is contiguous in her private and group dog training sessions. Kate has been a valued partner of Pooch Pals. In addition to working with our staff teaching them techniques in reinforcement dog training, she has been an invaluable resource. We are happy to continue recommending Kate Perry Dog Training to our clients. read more

Kate is an extraordinary trainer. I had taken my pup to another group class by a very well-known trainer; it was good, but not great. Kate's classes are indeed great. Her teaching is clear, engaging, and common-sensical. Not only does she break the lessons down slowly and effectively, but she also explains why she does certain things (and why she doesn't do others). She pragmatically aims her teaching at the NYC owner, with the understanding that big-city life presents special challenges. That approach is invaluable. I have had private and group classes with her, and both were amazing. After two private lessons in just a week, I was able to take my fearful puppy out for a long walk, whereas before that he just wouldn't budge (the previous trainer's feedback wasn't helping). His separation anxiety was much much better. In group class, he learned to focus and I learned how to work with him on several crucial commands. Financially speaking, her rates are extremely competitive. You get much much more for your money in Kate's classes. Her six-class course cost substantially less that my dog's first puppy course. The level of attention and support you get at Kate's classes cannot be matched. She works with fantastic people. Helen is absolutely terrific. Kate's "interns" are also very hands-on and helpful. Everybody in the team adores dogs and it shows. My dog and I couldn't be any happier. read more

I could not recommend Kate and her team more highly; they have been game changers for us. We have two dogs, and when we added the second--a rescue puppy who's got cattle dog in her mix and who needs a task basically all the time, we needed support. We signed up our pup, Marlow, for Puppy Socialization, and right away things started to shift in our home. Kate & Morgan really focus on training owners to prepare dogs for life in NYC--skateboards, strangers, sirens, other dog owners, etc--and also focus on nailing down basic commands so that your dog will pay attention to you. We also did some private sessions with Kate's team member, Sherri, who really helped us with crate training and behavior in the apartment (less barking when people come to the door, no jumping when people come into the apartment, meal time manners, etc). We found that the private sessions were really helpful for making our other dog, Wylie, comfortable with the new puppy and for setting some boundaries between the two dogs. Finally, we did Kate's Basic Obedience class with both dogs. This class was the most impactful for us. The dogs learned lots of skills that have totally transformed our dogs' behavior. With this class (and with lots of at home practice), both dogs are walking really well on leash in the city and have mastered commands like 'sit,' 'down,' 'stay,' 'come,' and (our favorite and the most life changing of all) 'leave it.' Kate and her team have been a wealth of resources and are always available to answer questions and to give recommendations. They really empower owners to become trainers themselves--in all of the work that we did with them, we learned how to communicate with our dogs, and that we have to do the work and practice what we've learned. From that work, both of our dogs seem so happy and well adjusted, and their behavior is great--we get told daily by strangers how good both dogs are. So long review short: If you have a puppy or dog that needs training, reach out to Kate Perry and her team; you'll be so happy that you did. read more

Chows are stubborn and mean....saws everyone until the see Pumba the 8 month old chow obey and tolerate stagers (even babies) touching him! We worked with Kate from the day we brought Pumba home at 9 weeks and went from a nippy baby peeing and pooping everywhere, getting put in time out constantly at playtime for not responding to cues to a certifiable GOOD BOY who respects other dogs boundaries and always plays nicely. His impartial parents know he is the star of doggy daycare. Chows are difficult, but can absolutely be trained to be good family pets with with help of Kate and Morgan! read more

As a first time dog owner, I was very nervous about getting a puppy. My puppy is now 10 months old and I can confidently say i would not have survived the process without Kate Perry and team. They not only helped train my puppy into a lovable, smart, and very obedient dog, but became part of our family as well. Kate, Morgan and team made it such a wonderful, enjoyable, and easy process to train my dog. Kate's techniques are smart yet simple and can be used to master puppy behavior, basic obedience, and even fun tricks! I get complimented on the street all the time for my dog's behavior. They not only help train your dog but also train YOU- helping you each step, no matter how big or small the bump may be Kate's techniques alone set her apart. But her team's commitment, love and consistency with your dog make them the best. You will not find a match in the industry. read more

We cannot say enough good things about Kate Perry Dog Training! We worked with the KPDT team for puppy socialization classes, teenage dog classes, and basic obedience. Our dog Louie (now 6 months) is so well socialized- he is playful with all breeds and sizes of dogs and is not afraid of the many scary city sounds- I truly believe this is because of the amazing work KPDT did with him and exposing him to so many different sounds and objects in a positive way. KPDT also helped us make connections with other puppies for safe playdates before he was fully vaccinated (and now he has many dog friends!). We are so grateful for all of their help in raising our pup to be the gentle, attentive, and obedient dog that he is--and for training his humans to be obedient as well! read more

Kate and her team are so amazing - they have taught us SO much about puppy training and socialization over these past few months. We can't recommend Kate Perry and her team highly enough -- they are THE best dog trainers in NYC!! She is calm, patient and loving toward each pup, and really takes the time to teach pet parents how to build lasting training skills. Thank you Kate! read more

I'm a dog walker that's been coming to class for 6 months now (and counting) and I can attest that Kate is an outstanding trainer!! I came to class with just about 0 knowledge of dog behavior, etc., and now I can confidently give clients advice about many things. She's consistent and truly cares for each and every pup (and person) that comes in. Do yourself and your pup a favor and sign on up! You'll not only learn so much, but you'll also give your pup the socialization they need to help YOU go to sleep at night! They also offer Obedience Classes which help stimulate your young pup's mind. This was honestly so fun and enriching for me because I had no experience with it whatsoever (if I can do it so can you!) And you can even use these commands to show your friends how amazingly smart your baby is (just saying). P.S. MG, Margaret, and the rest of the team are just as wonderful!! read more

I worked with Kate and her wonderful interns about 3 or 4 years ago with Gracie our adopted Rescue dog. Gracie didn't need the training as much as I did. Kate is fabulous. Many ppl go back if their dog or puppy reaches new developmental stages, new baby, new home etc. I wish I had a need to go back. not yet as Kate did such a good job first time. I admire her talents, business acumen and generosity. I recommend her at least once a month to people I meet read more

Kate is wonderful. She is insightful, caring and very good in training owners to bring out the best in their dogs. I have been to her puppy classes with my very high energy boston terrier puppy and it has been fantastic. He has been exposed to great energy and is rapidly progressing into a fun well behaved and very eagerly trainable dog. We had a private session with her which was invaluable in showing how quickly and easily it is to direct and shape the dogs behavior in a very positive rewarding manner. read more

Kate & Morgan are the best! We used them to train our first dog and are now using them again for our second. The puppy socialization class is incredible and really teaches you how to be a great dog parent/trainer when on your own with your pet. They are always available if you need guidance or advice. Dachshunds are notoriously hard to train and we are constantly complimented on how well behaved ours are. So thankful we found them!! read more

Our rescued border collie is a proud graduate of Kate's puppy socialization and basic obedience classes. When we brought him home, we had never raised a puppy before--Kate and her team taught all 3 of us everything we needed to know about communicating with each other! We've used the foundation we learned in Kate's classes to raise a well-mannered, well-socialized dog, who gets compliments everywhere he goes and can even do a few crowd-pleasing tricks. Kate also made herself available to answer any questions by e-mail, from curbing herding behaviors to sleeping through the night. We can't recommend them enough! read more

Kate Perry is fantastic. She's one of the best dog trainers around. She gets to the heart of who your dog is and tailors her classes to each dog. My little fellow is what she calls a "party animal" (although very kind and gentle) and Kate knew just how to handle him and gave me recommendations on what to do to calm him down. Yes; I'm getting him neutered next week, Kate! I also want to give Helen (Kate's second in command) a special thanks for all her kindness and help - and all of Kate's staff. They're a special group of people; I highly recommend Kate for all your dog training needs. read more

Kate Perry and Team are amazing. I am currently enrolled in Puppy Obedience and just finished Puppy Socialization class. I also enrolled in 3 private sessions with Helen Buttolph. I could not have imagined getting my puppy without their support. You can feel their passion for animals and both Kate and Helen are so talented. They make training easy and Helen has been more than available when I have follow up questions. I HIGHLY recommend working with them either privately or enrolling in classes. It is WELL worth the money. My pup is very well adjusted after just 5 weeks. read more

Kate was mean to my dog, and the negative effects were immediately apparent. If you value your dog's happiness, she is not the trainer for you. Her methods are unsound. read more

Awful. I would never go back to her or recommend her to anyone. She did not know how to address the issues my dog was having and when she tried something that did not work she would say "see I just wanted to show you that would not work". When I called her to discuss an issue I was having with my dog she called me back and left me a voice message saying maybe I should get rid of my dog and place or place my dog somewhere else outside the city such as in the country. When I called her back to discuss this with her I got her voicemail. I left her a message asking her to contact me to discuss her voice message. I have never heard back from her. That was over a year ago. She is very expensive and does not know how to train a dog except for what she has read in books. She is unprofessional and felt it appropriate to leave a message on my voicemail saying I should place my dog elsewhere and then did not have the decency to return my call to discuss this. Since that time I have worked with a trainer who is very creative and knowledgeable. My dog has become a wonderful pet and companion and I could not imagine life without her. read more
