Our regular dog walker stopped doing overnight stays a few years ago, so my husband and I have had to coordinate trips carefully. A friend recommended Big City Woof, and after hearing such great things, I decided to give them a try even though i am extremely selective about who looks after Poe as he can be tricky. Poe is a fantastic dog but he's strong and can be reactive toward certain other dogs. He needs someone who understands dog behavior and can stay calm, confident, and in control. We also no longer take him to dog parks, so he requires a caregiver who can manage his energy through walks and play. From the moment I met Renee, she bonded with Poe instantly. It was clear she genuinely loves animals and knows how to read them. I had her visit a few times for walks before I traveled, and she was never deterred by what needed to be done for Poe. She is patient, positive, and professional. What meant the most to me was that Renee didn't just care for Poe but she cared about him. The photos and videos she sent showed a happy dog, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. When I returned, Poe actually greeted me cheerfully (instead of giving me his usual "silent treatment"), and there were no signs of stress or behavioral setbacks. That spoke volumes about how well Renee connected with him. Renee went above and beyond in every way: she kept our home clean, restocked and cooked Poe's meals when needed, and even painted a wonderful portrait of him that we now have displayed at home. She was punctual, thoughtful, and truly attentive to every detail. We're so grateful to have found her and will absolutely be asking for her help again. She gave us true peace of mind and treated Poe as if he were her own dog. Thank you Renee and Big City Woof

The walks provide great socialization and exercise for Leroy and are a great alternative to him going to daycare. He exhibited difficulties on the leash and socializing with other dogs. We have been working with Lauren's Leash for the past 4 months for training and walking. My dog Tyson is showing incredible progress. Lauren's method is to give the dog confidence in themselves in order to conquer their fears and anxieties. Having been around dogs my whole life I can confidently say that this method is much better for long term results than punishment driven training. She has been extremely good about communicating and being patient with my dog as well as equipping me with the tools to be the best parent I can be. I am a freelance designer that often works from home and as long as I get a request into the system in time, Lauren's Leash does everything they can to accommodate me. Most importantly she is truly driven by seeing a dog's progress and excited about the work she does. It was bizarre. As I said, our dog has never had a problem at any other daycare except DD. They forced me to leave work in the middle of the day to come get him. (I think because of their insecurities and failure to listen to our instructions.) In short, we don't trust them and our dog hated it there. I think they're fine if your dog is easy but there are much better places, at better rates, in the area.

I have brought in my very energetic (and deaf) Australian Shepherd in for daycare as well as boarding. I was worried that his deafness would be a problem, as many other facilities told me they were not trained to handle him. Meghan immediately did research and told me it would be no problem! I have no worries when I send him there. They send detailed email updates, as well as take pictures on facebook to show the dogs are doing, which is a nice reassurance. The also send home a daily report card when you pick up your pet detailing their stay (very cute). The facility is impeccably clean (a must) and open to allow dogs maximum play space. In addition to daycare, they host practical training workshops for pet owners that end up being very individualized. In addition, they have recently opened their doors to the bully project, an organization that offers free obedience classes to owners of pit bulls and similar breeds. This truly shows an attachment to the community and its needs. I would absolutely recommend Doggedly Devoted to anyone in the city

Trusting someone to do what they say they will when you are not around is also hard. Jim is a fantastic dog walker and you can tell is truly and animal lover. I trust 100% that he will take care of my dog and give her the love and attention that she needs when she is with him. Jim is professional and friendly, he takes her out for the time we agree to (past dog walking services have taken my dog out for only 8-10 minutes in spite of me paying for a 20-30 minute walk), he keeps me apprised of her activities by leaving notes, and he is always more than happy to accommodate our schedule if he can. We reached out, Jim came by our place to meet us and the dog, and I pretty much knew after that conversation that he was our guy. He is amazing with our dog, and she absolutely loves him... Which is saying something as she is not super social and usually a bit shy. He's reliable, helps us out with taking her to the groomer, the vet, or stoping by to feed her if we can't make it home on schedule, and over the last 1.5years I don't have a single complaint. Best part, he also boards her if we are out of town, which is sooooo much better than taking her to some crap hole kennel. Makes it that much easier to relax on vacation knowing she's in good hands. He even txt's us the occasional picture of her getting into trouble just so we know she's doing well.
