I am so grateful Funny Pets is next door because I would travel to them anywhere in the city yet they are the building right next door!!! When I first got my Havanese I wasn't prepared for the amount of grooming these little doggies require. I thought ... oh yeah they're pretty small I can just bathe her a few times and then she can go to grooming a few times. My goodness was I wrong. Her hair is like cotton so it gets knotted from just looking at it. On top of that, my pups hates being brushed so getting any knots out is not an easy task. This is when my ordeal of looking for a good grooming place started. Of course I went on to Yelp to look for what was best in the city and I ended up somewhere in the East Village that had the best ratings in all of Yelp. How could I go wrong, right? Better not!!! I very clearly gave instructions to do a puppy cut and not a full summer cut because I didn't want her fully shaved. Comes out looking like a squirrel and they gave the excuse that the knots were so much that they couldn't do anything else, but fully shave her. At that point it was my first full grooming for a long haired dog so I was devastated (that sounds so ridiculously frivolous, but I was), but I figured they would know better since they had such good ratings. Would never ever go back to them, but also thought they might have been right. So wrong!!! I took the little one with longer hair and with what I think were worst mats (not because I don't brush her, but because when it's too much I'd rather just have the experts deal with it) and the groomers at Funny Pets NYC have never once given her a full shave, but have followed my instructions to the dot and have returned her to me looking like the fluff ball she should be. Joy comes out looking gorgeous, smelling like a baby and, (more importantly) not nervous at all. Does she like going for a grooming? Not really, but she's a nervous dog anyway so the fact the ladies at Funny Pets NYC are able to keep her calm and have coming looking like a fluffy stuffed animal is just absolutely amazing. I would recommend these folks to anyone for grooming. If they can do a great job with a Havanese, I'm sure they will do a great job with any other dog. I haven't tried their dog-walking services, but I always see the dog walkers as they go by my building all the time and they seem really great ... caring and gentle with the dogs. I will definitely try them out at some point as I never know when my wonderful dog walked of 20 years may need a backup. Please go to Funny Pets NYC! This is an amazing team! read more

This has been a difficult review for me to write, but I must. Maizie was last groomed at Funny Pets in April 2024 and she has not returned. It is important that no matter how outstanding the groomer is that Maizie is always treated with kindness and is not abused. Maizie is no longer being groomed at Funny Pets since I witnessed Maizie treated at her last visit by Natasha in a way that I would never want her to experience again. read more

I would definitely recommend funny pets for a full groom. I got my bichon frise groomed here today they took three hours, to do a wonderful job. They did exactly what i wanted and took great care of my pet. I have tried numerous grooming services in the area and this one is great, my dog was sitting happily waiting for me as they told me they don't put dogs in cages before or after, which was a necessity for us. We've been taking our 4 year old rescue dog here for day care for the past few months and could not be happier. We were taking him to Biscuits & Bath for the first few months we had him but they were absolutely awful. Biscuits & Bath is like a jail cell (small room for 20+ dogs, no toys, no music, etc.) and Funny Pets is like a family members home. It is a little larger than the room our dog was put in at Biscuits (medium sized dog room) but instead of complete emptiness, the room is filled with beds, colorful toys, blankets, a tv, and the handler is always playing with the dogs. I also like that there is always a reasonable number of dogs in there and that they aren't all crammed in with nowhere to go, unlike Biscuits. When we adopted our dog this past summer he wasn't playing with other dogs at all and would only socialize with humans. At Biscuits the handlers always told us he was shy and would not play with other dogs. However, since taking him to Funny Pets, we noticed he started to actually play with other dogs (not just chasing each other but playing tug of war, etc.) and he is much better at interacting with other dogs at the park too. I think the intimate environment definitely helps with this and the fact that there is actually room to play helps. They post a lot of photos and videos on their Instagram and my dog is always excited to go to daycare whereas before, he would be very hesitant to step foot into Biscuits. I highly recommend Funny Pets to anyone looking for a reasonably priced daycare for their dog! read more

First I'd like to say that I was a very nervous dog mommy, however Andre has been so kind and patient, even when I ask the same questions over and over again! Coco loves Enrique Omg. She gets so excited when she hears him at the door!! She barks with excitement up until the exact moment he bends down to put her harness on. Then she stops barking, looks up at him, sees the smile on his face and suddenly calms down. It's gotten to be a really funny moment and Enrique and I laugh at her reaction, as if Bradley Cooper is here! They always come on time and are wonderful with Coco, who is a rescue 8 year old mix. Funny Pets is wonderful and we look forward every day to seeing Enrique's smiling face. He truly loves her and she adores him. Five stars for sure read more

What a disaster. We have a beautiful long-haired white fluffy cat. But we had been a little negligent in brushing him and his hair was a little bit matted in one or two places. So we brought him in today to get groomed. When I left him, I I said please groom him. When I came back, he had been totally shaved. My children are in tears and the poor cat is hairless. What possible justification could they have had for shaving our cat? Groom does not mean shave him. Who could possibly want their cat shaved? My family is alternately outraged and in tears. It will take a year or more for his hair to regrow. Avoid this place. What a nightmare. read more

On site manager was rude and abusive after I refused to pay for "boarding" when I picked up my dog before closing on the day she was groomed. When I arrived to pick her up (at 4:30), the blinds were drawn (seconds earlier) and I had to knock insistently until the door was opened and a day's boarding fee was demanded in addition to $150 for grooming. When I refused the disagreeable person implied that my dog would not be returned until the next day. He then proceeded to rant, rage and hurl quite ugly insults. Of course I would never go back there. I do not know whether the manager was high on some potent drug but his behavior was bizarre. And the groom was mediocre. read more

I've lived on the UES for 35+ years, always with 1 or more dogs. Funny Pets is the Best for day care and grooming I've found. Personal, welcoming, immaculate, comfortable. 2 large windows street level allow you to see in clearly. You never feel rushed picking up, dropping off and/or asking questions. Danielle is the groomer, she has studied dog psychology/behavior. She teaches the dogs to behave, including to stop barking when one enters. She gives advise and suggestions on grooming training, and will patiently answer any questions to the best of her knowledge. The dogs are taken for walks during the day. A quiet neighborhood, a quiet street. Day care and grooming prices very reasonable. She never rushes grooming and they don't overbook. Highly recommend! A great find! read more

Andre and his team are the absolute best dog walkers in NYC. Andre and his team truly love dogs and care for them as their own. They are also very easy to schedule walks with and are accommodating with any last minute changes to schedules. Our golden doodle loves Andre and his team so much, and would wag her tail like crazy when she saw them. Andre and team were very patient with Red and truly took care of her like she was their dog.
