Brooklyn Pup was great. The space was clean and Sari was a great trainer. We had one puppy kindergarten session with our pup, Penny. Penny socialized with the other puppies while Sari and her assistant went around the room giving training tips and dos and donts. Sari was very thorough in her training methods. Then the world faced a pandemic. We had only had one in person session but Brooklyn Pup went right into action and reached out to the puppy owners with options on their remaining classes. We completed the course via Zoom calls which although wasn't great for puppy socialization, was great to reinforce training for the owners. Brooklyn Pup is the best choice possible for adjusting both you and your puppy to your new life together in the city. Sari created an open forum for all of the owners to swap stories and learn from one another which was extremely valuable. Each week I left more and more comfortable and confident in my ability to train Hank and get through some of the hurdles and specific challenges that come with raising a puppy in the city. By the end of our 4 sessions, he knew look, touch, sit, shake, leash walking and was well on the way to being housebroken! We have taken 2 classes with Sari at Brooklyn Pup and couldn't be happier with the experience in both. In the fall, we signed up for Puppy Kindergarten with our dachshund/terrier mix Zeus soon after we got him when he was about 4 months old. The class was virtual due to COVID, but the class format and small class size ensured that we had plenty of time for both the main lesson/topic of the day, as well as individual time for everyone to raise issues specific to their pet. I really appreciated this time where we were able to ask questions about whatever had come up with Zeus over the past week. Our positive experience led us to sign up for Basic Pet Manners. This class was taught mostly in Fort Greene Park, though we did a couple sessions virtually due to inclement weather. Sari brought in two highly capable and friendly assistants whose presence helped to ensure that the pups again got individual attention as they practiced their new skills. Sari is a knowledgeable, patient trainer whose professionalism is matched only by her kindness for her clients, both human and doggy. She always explained things in a clear and simple manner that made it easy for me (a first time puppy owner who often felt overwhelmed during those first few weeks) to comprehend and translate into actual practice with Zeus. Sari also makes herself available for individual questions after class by email or phone. Sari was wonderful! I'm a first time pup owner and started this course when my Shiba was 10 weeks old. It helped being able to check in weekly to discuss any ongoing and new concerns that would pop up over the week. We did everything over zoom and there were three other dog owners so it was a nice, small intimate group. Most owners raised issues that would eventually arise later for me or vice versa so it was helpful having that community. Sari also put us all in touch after the course in case we wanted to schedule meet ups. Sari gave very practical advice that has helped me tremendously while raising my pup. It's helpful to be as specific as possible with your concerns/issues so that she can help troubleshoot it. She's also open to receiving videos/pictures when you're socializing or training your dog so that she can give helpful tips. It was a great alternative while we're in quarantine. We had her come for a private session Because it wasn't just run of the mill training we needed. We have no idea what Stella's background is, we just knew that she needed training and had some very specific fears - like leaving the house. Sari's communication skills are fabulous. She was able to explain her philosophy (which fit our own feelings about how to treat a dog) and really teach us what we needed to do and what our expectations should be in different situations. She also helped us to understand how to work with our cats (and bunny) with the dog. Stella has gotten better and better and Sari has checked in with us several times, unsolicited. Going to puppy kindergarten classes with Sari was so fun and helpful that my husband and I decided to continue after our initial round was up. We adopted our puppy from Socialtees, who recommended Brooklyn Pup's puppy kindergarten and socialization classes. We initially started in Clinton Hill but switched to Greenpoint due to it being closer, and looked forward to the classes each weekend. Our puppy loved the classes too (treats! attention! dogs!) and would get very excited when he realized where we were. Sari helped us each week with navigating developing behavior, training, and socialization skills, and our pup got to interact with other puppies and human strangers and learn how to walk on a leash, tricks, overcome fears, and a lot more. At one point while he was little our puppy was attacked by another dog in a park and I emailed Sari to ask how to handle him afterwards in terms of making sure he would not be too affected by it and develop aggressive or fearful behaviors, and she responded right away with advice and care. I cannot rave enough about Sari. I brought my very energetic, and very spastic pup Bruiser to Sari's puppy training. She thoroughly and knowledgeably answered all my questions, and I left class with manageable next steps in training that actually worked! One of my best days was when Bruiser and a little dog named Max played together with abandon in class. We adopted our puppy Lulu at 4.5 months and did puppy classes with Sari. When we first started, Lulu would hide under the couch and hide behind us. Thanks to Sari, I now have a confident, calm, clever, and adorable dog! When I adopted Iris (a super-scruffy terrier mix), she was about 9 months old, 45 lbs., and scared of everything. Iris came from a shelter in Oklamhoma, and it didn't seem like she had ever been in a house before, she wasn't housetrained, and she had never walked on a leash. I was in over my head, so I started with private consultation. Sari came to my house, and in one session she helped me teach Iris a few basic commands, took us outside to practice loose-leash walking, and gave me a technique that had Iris housetrained within a couple of days. Iris started to settle immediately, but she was still terrified of motorcycles, trucks, and pretty much any loud noise on our walks. One of the things that I really loved about working with Sari is that she seemed to really "get" Iris, and she recommended a combination of techniques to address her anxiety. We also took Sari's basic puppy class, and by the end Iris was much more relaxed and confident. Sari was recommended to me by both SCAR and Brooklyn Bark, and I am so grateful.
