TOP LINE: Robert gave me practical strategies for working with my nervous dog that have already proved successful.
MY STORY: I'm a single mom, with a two year old daughter, and I've got the most amazing dog. She's loving, obedient, a total snuggle bunny, and she can catch a frisbee like nobody's business. But she had one pain in the ass behavior that I hadn't been able to train out of her ...
When people entered our apartment or walked from room to room, she barked aggressively and often lunged at them. If she only did this with strangers, I wouldn't think this was so bad. But she did it with everyone -- including people she knew very well (my roommate, my sister, my downstairs neighbors). Hell, she even lunged at me on occasion. The worst was when we were visiting at someone else's home and she did it TO THEM -- in THEIR OWN HOME!!
My anxiety increased to such a point whenever I expected a friend or guest, that I was starting to avoid having people over. That's when I knew it was time to call in an expert, and Robert was my answer.
Robert was on the case the moment he entered the brownstone, and quickly assessed the best way to correct my dog's behavior. In that intial session, we spent over an hour practicing with her and by the time he left I felt like the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulder: finally -- I had seen a way of training the dog that could work, and I had instructions I felt capable of carrying out for her continued pratice. It was what I'd been wanting for years: a game plan, and one that worked!
Robert was direct, friendly and fun to work with. His love for dogs is apparent, and my dog liked him immediately. What I like most about him is that he didn't come in and dictate a single approach. He catered his solutions for my situation -- which included my dog's personality and mine, as well as the layout of my apartment and building, and practically -- how much time I have in the day to work with her. Outside our sessions, Robert's been easy to reach for follow up questions and further suggestions -- and always seems really interested in hearing about our progress.
BOTTOM LINE: My dog's behavior has already significantly improved. And we're continuing to practice together, even if it's just a few minutes a day.
If you're looking for a trainer, I can't recommend Robert more highly. read more
