She was professional in our meeting, and so, I had her stop by and care for my cat when I was away for a week. There might have been a misunderstanding with the care that I expected for my pet. Maybe the fault is partly mine for not explaining or assuming a certain level of care. I assumed that in hiring Bonnie's services that my cat would be seen same at approximately the same time every day (there's a spot on the customer's forms that ask when you would like your pet to be seen) and that she would get adequate attention. My cat is extremely social and requires a lot of play/pet time. Bonnie's website promised an hour of play time. My cat also gets anxious when I'm away and needs some one to reassure her, and that promise was one of things that convinced me to hire Bonnie. When I came home and found my cat extremely unhappy, her litter area a mess, and mold in her food bowl. I could tell that my cat hadn't been cared for in the way that I had expected. She was extremely nervous and it took about a week to get her behavior back to normal. This was disappointing, considering that I have had undergrad students care for my cat better and for less money. For those just going away for vacation/trips and not having Bonnie serve as a daily walker, there's an odd clause in her contract concerning keys. If you ask for her to return your keys on a day that she isn't already working at your place, she charges you $15 for its return. I find this a bit strange as keys, even spare ones, are the customer's property, not Bonnie's. You shouldn't have to pay $15 to have your own property returned to you. Again, judging by the other reviews, I'm sure that Bonnie is great with dogs. After my experience, I'm not so certain about her work with cats.

Bonnie was able to come over for the initial interview the day after I brought Mika home and they hit it off right away! Mika requires a lot of care and attention to detail since she's an active puppy and very curious. My schedule requires me to be away from my home for 12+ hours a day and Bonnie has been able to accommodate by providing a daycare service in her own home. Bonnie provides updates throughout the day on how Mika is doing. I never have to worry when Mika is with Bonnie. I'm so glad I found Bonnie - without her the care of a new puppy with a full schedule wouldn't have been possible! She also provides an in-home visit if you aren't dealing with a puppy and your dog only requires a walk/play time. Once a week, Bonnie comes to my home midday and spends an hour with Mika. Her service is an invaluable addition to the sparse options in the Sunnyside/Woodside area.

I'm so glad that none of the other trainers worked out, because this led me to awesome Yuruani at Dog Liberty LLC. Yuruani is very professional, kind and knowledgeable when it comes to working with dogs. She asked many questions about my dog prior to coming over and we decided to start with the 4 class, in home training package. As soon as she met my 2 years old Pit mix Simba, she knew what needed to be done. She is very caring and attentive and knew how to point Simba to do the right things. I was surprised as to how quick and how well Simba responded to Yuriani. She was also very patient when Simba didn't respond well or gave up. Yuriani is also available for any questions and very flexible when it comes to setting up future sessions. She listened to all the issues I had and we worked on whatever we could during our 4 sessions. It's been a year since Yuri helped us, and I've been able to use everything that she taught me to turn Simba into a better dog. Although there are many things we still need to improve because Simba is a little slow (I still love him). Most importantly, Yuri has taught me ways of understanding and communicating with my dog which I believe is the most important. He is a great dog but we realized that he was not completely socialized and he needed some training to help him get use to his new home. While walking through our neighborhood, we saw a very well behaved dog and asked their owner about his great skills. They said they used Yuri and that she had worked miracles with her dog. As soon as we got home, we called Yuri. She came over and met us and Rosco. She really asked detailed questions and worked with Rosco for an hour to see what his needs would be. She developed a comprehensive plan and our weekly sessions began. She also gave us a discount for rescuing a dog - which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. Rosco took to Yuri right away and also responded very quickly to training. He responded so quickly that even Yuri calls him Einstein (ok a little parental bragging here). As we went through our sessions, we quickly realized that there were other needs for Rosco and we were able to change and adjust his plan accordingly. Yuri even got her husband involved when Rosco needed to adjust to being around men. He came over with multiple outfits and disguises just to help Rosco get used to being around. On Rosco's last session, they brought him a framed diploma and took pictures of the proud graduate. We hang his diploma with pride Yuri made herself 100% available to us via email, text or phone. She answered any questions we had. She also recommended a great dog walker for us that we use regularly. She also teaches group classes that we regularly attend to also help with Rosco's socialization - he's doing great and we really do owe Yuri so much. She has an easy going, approachable demeanor. Shortish version Our…read moredog was nicked during a sanitary trim, and was was bleeding a little when we wiped the area where she was nicked. She has razor burn so severe that we had to put a cone on her to prevent her from constantly licking herself. What became very worrying was that she has not eaten much, drank very little, and has not peeped or pooped, and just lies there at home for the past 24 hours, refusing to move. We tried speaking to the manager, Daniel, when we bumped into him at the vet, and he said "1 sec" and never got back to us. Eli (business owner) followed up while our dog was getting a x-ray to explain to us that they didn't do anything wrong and that they are not liable to pay for our dog's care, even though we never indicated in any way that we wanted them to. No matter what, a dog who has never had any issues with grooming, should not be in this state after a sanitary trim. And no mater what, someone should have communicated to us what had happened. After what has occurred and the way the whole situation was handled, we no longer feel safe or OK leaving our dog here. Longer version with more details below. ---- I am as level headed as they come. Feel free to look at my profile, all my reviews are only 4 and 5s (And have been leaving reviews on Yelp for over a decade), and don't believe in leaving negative reviews, as I don't like the idea of negatively affecting someone's business. I've decided to break my rule, because there are some clear issues with Dog and Bone's grooming services. Our dog gets monthly grooming, and has never had a single issue. We decided to give this D&G a try rather than our usual spot, because our initial first impression was so positive, and wanted to give them more business. But after leaving our usual instructions that we've given to every other groomer, when we received our dog, she could not stop licking her vulva. We would walk a few steps and she would start licking herself. Until finally she refused to walk anymore and I had to carry her the rest of the way home. At first I thought she was just not comfortable with the sanitary trim (which also has never happened before), but when I got home and wiped her down in that area there was BLOOD. My belief is that she was nicked and has red bumps, which looks like razor burn. I am unsure, because no one has bothered to communicate to us that anything happened. It was terrifying not knowing what had happened and needing to guess. Not only did the groomer not follow our directions, but our dog was hurt, and still not herself. Following our arrival home, for 24 hours she has refused to eat, drink much water, and keeps on trying to nip/lick herself, and refuses to move. We sent Daniel two emails documenting everything with pictures, videos, etc. We took our dog to an Instavet next door (same owner) and she continued to not eat or poop, and bumped into Daniel when we tried to speak to him he told said us 1 minute and never bothered to return. While our dog was getting an x-ray Eli (business owner) called us and awkwardly tried to suggest that the issue did not occur at day care or grooming, and was trying absolve himself of any wrong doing, which we did not understand, until he got to his point about not being obligated to pay for our dog's vet bill. We are deeply worried about our pet's well being, and to call us while our dog is at his vet to try and absolve themselves of any wrong doing made us so angry, due to his cold and uncaring tone. Holy crap, I could not believe what I was hearing. All we carried about was the well being of our dog, and the call just made us feel worse. We have sent our dog to dog and bone club multiple times a week for the past month. They have completely lost our trust. Accident can happen, I can be understanding of that. But the severity, not communicating, trying to tell us that they're not liable to pay for our dog's vet bill, when we made no indication that we wanted them to pay in any shape or form, is not acceptable. Collectively, my wife and I have spent 13 hours at the two vets this weekend, and nearly ~$800 dollars thus far in trying to diagnose and address an issue that happened on their watch, on top of a $50 sanitary trim. Stay away, don't risk it. There are plenty of other places to go to in LIC. I will leave things off with a positive in that Sarah at the front desk is kind and super nice.

From the moment you walk in, you can tell how incredibly clean and well-organized the space is. Every single pet there is calm, happy, and clearly well cared for, which says everything about the environment and the people who work there. The staff is beyond friendly, always smiling, patient, and with the best possible attitude. You can feel that they genuinely love what they do. I bring my dog Maximus here for baths and grooming, and Renata was absolutely wonderful. She is highly skilled, confident, and calm, which is essential because my dog is NOT easy at all. She handled him beautifully and with so much care and professionalism. I live in New Jersey, and I still drive all the way to Astoria because this is the only place I truly trust with my dog. That alone says everything. The owner, Vivi, is a real animal lover in every sense of the word. She even let me stay the entire time and watch Maximus being groomed, which gave me so much peace of mind and showed incredible transparency and confidence in her team.
