Honestly a waste of time. Communication was slow, vague, and all over the place. I asked simple questions and got answers like a leash is "for walking"... no way, really? Then they tried to say "heel" just means getting your dog next to you, which is completely wrong. Heel is an actual trained command with structure and control, not just standing beside you. Same thing with "come"--no clear explanation at all. If you're charging for dog training, you should be able to explain basic commands without sounding confused. Instead, they just kept pushing me to come in for a quote instead of being upfront. Didn't feel professional or knowledgeable at all. Wouldn't go here. read more

I have not yet boarded with them. But my interactions with Diane have so lowered my anxiety level! My dogs have an evaluation coming up in anticipation of a stay. I have either texted or spoke with 4 other places in my city and Paw Troopers are by far in the front running. Update- I won't be using PawTroopers after all. There was a breakdown in communication. They are kennel free and dogs are crated inside at night. I have big guys who are not crate trained and my old guy especially would not be happy surrounded by a bunch of happy dogs. He is a grumpy old man who likes quiet, unless it is his barking and long undisturbed naps. But I very much think Diane's place would be the perfect for most pups. read more

After searching for over a month to find the right place for my Rottweiler, Athena, I'm so grateful I found Diane and Eric! For three years, Athena loved staying with my awesome friend who ran a doggy daycare and boarding out of her home on an acre and a half, but when she sold her house and moved out of the area, I was worried I wouldn't find someone who would understand and care for Athena the same way--especially being a Rottweiler, since not everyone understands the breed. From the moment I met Diane and Eric, I knew this was it! They were incredibly professional, kind, and welcoming. Athena felt comfortable right away, and when I picked her up from daycare, she was happy, well cared for, and even smelled amazing! The real confirmation came when I brought her back to board her--she was so excited to see them and greeted them with a wagging tail! That kind of reaction says everything. He was able to complete everything we wanted (no jumping,nibbling,basic obedience,potty training,leash training and crate training) in that time. Paw Troopers does an amazing job with our 9 year old pup! We took him through a 4 week training to work on leash pulling / walking, leash reactivity, and socialization. Results vary of course depending on dogs age, type, and what they have already been conditioned on. Mozzie came back obedient and is an amazing walker now. His socialization has gotten better as well. He still needs work on his reactive behavior but those are things we will continue to work on with them. Pawtroopers is hands down the absolute best place in California to board, train, daycare your animals. I have personally used them 3 times from Oregon to board dogs. With each dog they were the first safe spot these dogs had ever had. It was important to have them in the most safe and comfortable environment and their kennel free boarding paired with the incredible love, skills and kindness the owners have for the animals made the entire experience not only for the dogs but for me as well the most caring, loving and worry free experience. Their facility is so cute and set up perfectly to keep the dogs happy, busy, stimulated, learning and safe. They were very responsive from the beginning until the end. They had zero problems with accompanying one of the dogs to the vet. They administered medications, as well as provided food and treats for the dogs all at the most reasonable price for the care given. They provided photo updates and great communication along the way. The dogs were even sent home with cute little goodie bags. It was amazing every time. The dogs gained a sense of love, kindness and stability while being able to decompress and I gained a really great boarding facility as well as a really great friend. I work with alot of dogs, rescues, shelters, boarding, etc in California and I will trust Pawtroopers with my dogs life over and over as well as their ability to train and provide you with ongoing tools over anyone else over and over. I'm a foster mom to a 1 year old, not yet fixed pitty named Scott. Scott had to board and did training at this facility for 6 days. It was great! They assessed Scott and gave me tips on how to improve his behavior. They told me and the rescues that he needed more training, which he really does. They also kept all of us updated throughout his stay. In those 6 days I've seen improvement. He doesn't jump on people as much and has stopped nibbling on people. We originally had requested puppy boot camp with pawtroopers. When we first signed up our pit Bane, they told us on his first week of training that he had separation anxiety and we had to extend his training to 3 weeks. Diana and her husband Eric were working on his indoor behaviors as we made it clear Bane was an indoor dog. We would get pictures and updates via text and again he was sleeping indoors. After his training we decided to use their services again on 7/20-7/22 on 7/21 in the morning we received updates that he was doing fine. On 7/21 later in the night during our vacation we then received a call from Eric that our pit was at the Vet hospital in critical condition. They told us that they left him sleeping outside in an outdoor crate in a shaded area with a single bolted crate, if you own a pit you know that is not strong enough to keep a pit in. My dog as I mentioned, suffered from separation anxiety and as he saw them leave he pushed through the crate and got out. As mentioned on their site they told us our fur baby would never be left unattended and they broke their own rule. As a result my dog was attacked by either another dog or worse a coyote neither Diana or Eric were able to give me concrete details as they don't have cameras and were not there. We were told that they went out to eat and when they returned they found my dog outside their property on the ground. We were 3 hours away from the Vet were they rushed our dog and we didn't make it.This has been the worst experience I have ever had to cope with and as a result of their negligence I no longer have my dog. I asked for them to warn their customers about the possibility of other aggressive dogs or coyotes and all they did was try to sweep it under the rug and they never mentioned anything to their customers or on their instagram page. As a concern dog parent I ask that you ensure to do your due diligence before leaving your dog here over night. We later found out that they also lost another Pit under their care and same thing due to another aggressive dog in the area. As professionals they should be transparent with their customers and update how they are updating their facilities and training to ensure that these instances don't ever happen again.During my experience dealing with them it has been unpleasant and total unprofessional behavior . read more

I took my 5 mo. old lab/heeler mix puppy for boot camp training. They were so knowledgeable on the training he needed. He stayed with them for two weeks and came back to me as a new puppy. He had been out of control with jumping and biting. Eric and Diana worked with his training every day. He was socialized with other dogs and quickly took to the training he needed. Since he has been home and with my continued training, he is so sweet now. I plan on taking him back for a day now and then to keep him up on everything he has learned. Paw Troopers were fantastic with our two kitties!! We were nervous about leaving them with anyone as they have never been left behind anywhere except at home, but Diana and her family made them feel at home She sent many pictures that showed them getting comfy all over her house (since she doesn't just keep cats confined to a small space like many boarders do). One of our cats has a special diet and has to take medication, and Paw Troopers was happy to accommodate. I LOVED that Diana wanted to meet our pets before boarding them so that all parties could get to know each other ahead of time. It shows her commitment to her business and to the comfort of the animals. My family and I did a last minute trip for Memorial Day weekend and I was so thankful they were able to board our dog Ella. My kids were so sad when we left her, but the owner was so sweet and sent quite a few pictures and gave us several updates on Ella. Ella has on and off ear issues. When you leave your fur baby in the care of others especially someone who says they are professionals you are expecting that professionalism. Unfortunately this was not our entire experience with Pawtroopers and Diane and Eric. Our pit bull puppy (now deceased) was under their care twice, once during a 3 week board and train stay and the second for 2 daycare (overnight) stays. During training Diane informed us that our Pit Bane appears to be suffering from extreme separation anxiety (he would cry for long periods of time, push against the crate, and try to get out) when he would not see someone in sight. This was something that was continuously being worked on which is what we were told. Bane was a young puppy when he first stayed with Pawtroopers and had previously been in a shelter so we knew this would be something we wanted to first work on with him. After his initial stay with Pawtroopers we were informed and saw that his behaviors did improve slightly but his separation anxiety was still there. Because we had used Pawtroopers previously and because they were aware of his behaviors we chose to use their service because we thought they would be able to support him the best. Unfortunately this was not the case. During Banes stay from 7/20-7/22, Bane was housed outside in a single latch crate. Bare in mind Bane was only an indoor dog and slept only indoors (never outdoors in our home). On 7/21 Eric notified us late in the evening that Bane was in critical condition and the vet wasn't sure if he was going to make it. We quickly called Eric to ask what had happened. Eric informed us that they had stepped out to grab lunch near their home (was told they were gone for 15mins). As they were leaving Bane saw them and began to cry and howl. Bane was being crated outside. When Eric and Diane returned from getting their food they found Bane laying in the ground with multiple injuries and with a low pulse. Bane was quickly rushed to the vet and was being kept alive through CPR in order to attempt to save his life. When I asked them why Bane had been put outside to sleep, Eric informed us that they had reached capacity of crates inside with smaller dogs and they chose to put Bane outside in a crated area with other dogs. We had to rush 3 hours away (we were out of town) in hopes of making it to see Bane but unfortunately we did not make it in time. When we arrived at the vet, the nurses moved us to a separate room and had the main doctor talk to us because they were suspicious of Banes injuries. The vet had informed us that at first when Bane was brought in Eric and Diane had told him they weren't sure what had happened that they had found him laying on the ground with a weak pulse. But Bane had severe head trauma, multiple lacerations on his body, and a large gash wound near his abdomen and two front legs. The vet stated that the injuries at first were indicative of him possibly getting hit by a car because he was bleeding from his nose and ears. We explained to him the information we were told by Diane and Eric and all the vet could really say was that it was possible he could have been attacked by a larger animal but they could not conclude it. When we finally met with Diane and Eric again they just explained that they theorized that Bane might have jumped over the neighboring fence to eat someone else's food (dog) and that could have been a reason for the attack, however when we asked them the following day if they had any cameras in the area they informed us that due to connection issues the wifi would not reach due to how far away the distance would be. I asked Eric if he had checked the neighboring area to see if any other dogs had possible injuries similar to being in a fight with another dog but Eric stated that he was not able to find anything. Diane shared with us a picture of the crate used for Bane and it was a single latched crate that was easily pushed and broken out of by our Pit Bane who was over 45lbs. His crate at home is an extra large crate with 3 latches and even that can be hard to hold him when he has his episode of separation anxiety. The reason for this review is more to inform new and continued troopers to make sure you ask any questions and ask where your pets will be staying if indoors or outdoors and to ensure that supervision is in fact 24/7 because from what we're told, the dogs were being left unsupervised when they would go out to grab lunch. Please due your due diligence for the safety of your pet and others. We hope that Pawtroopers is able to be transparent with their customers and be able to provide them with clear descriptions and follow through their contract of constantly supervising all animals. And if they are over capacity they should inform their customers and let them know that this may change where their pet may sleep and this should help the owner make a better decision on whether they want to use their service or not. read more
