Just finished up on a 4 week obedience training for my one year old deaf Australian Cattle dog, Tazzy. Audrey, the owner and the fantastic staff we worked with, Noah and Cassandra did an amazing job with Tazzy in teaching her, with hand signs and vibrating collar. We even brought in our other deaf Australian Cattle dog, Lucy who is 7 yrs old, for a refresher course. Audrey is very thorough in setting expectations and following through with results! Audrey and her team are responsible trainers. I do not leave my pets anywhere I feel I would have trust issues. I left one of our dogs with them for 3 weeks. While it was hard to do so, he was trained well and learned a lot. You have to do your part once your pup is back home. They truly care for the animals in their facility, and are friendly, honest and straightforward. I would trust Audrey with any of my dogs again. Great choice. read more

We got our 1.5 year old Belgian Malinois, Gunner, at six weeks old. We placed him in training (elsewhere) right away three times a week. Despite our best efforts, Gunner still had a lot of trouble meeting new people or dogs. We could barely walk down the street without him wanting to lunge, growl, and bark after everything he saw. (At 6 weeks old and even after months of training) He is the most loving angel at home, but no one got to see that side of him. We have always had to be careful not to let him get out of the house off-leash, out of fear he could bite someone. My parents had always been able to watch Gunner if we were away for a weekend, knowing they needed to take extra safety precautions. Although sometimes mistakes are made, and he did get out. We moved to Riverside about eight months ago, and started to research for places that would take aggressive dogs. We found Better K-9 Riverside, and was informed about their board and train program. We had a consultation with Jack, who clearly knew what he was doing and knew exactly how to handle Gunner. We signed him up right away and he stayed with Better K-9 for about a month, and we saw a dramatic difference when he came home to us. He has stayed at Better K-9 Riverside a few times now, just if we have to go out of town for the weekend. It is so nice to be able to leave Gunner in hands I trust and don't have to worry about him getting out or biting someone. I always bring Gunner in his muzzle, to make sure whoever is taking him from me feels safe (even though he seems to really like everyone there now), but he always returns without his muzzle on. Again, it's nice to know the staff knows how to care for aggressive dogs, and that he can be muzzle free with them!! We definitely need to get back on our training sessions after the holiday break! read more

We found Better-K9 (in Riverside) here on Yelp and decided to take Bobby to the best rated, local dog trainer. Our (then) 6 month old Doberman/Mastiff/Staffordshire mix was a bit of a boisterous handful, and despite our best efforts still wasn't listening to any of our commands. My wife is used to bossing people around and couldn't get him to listen. I (apparently) have an accent, so I thought it was maybe the language barrier. No. He's just stubborn. We chose the 21 Day Boot Camp with Trainer Jack, who worked his magic and gave us back a very well-behaved, attentive dog. Part of Better-K9's course offers on-site follow-up training to fine tune anything that needs attention. Sarah dropped by for an hour and corrected some of our behavior (oh, dear) and had Bobby back on track immediately. She also gave us some homework to keep him obedient and engaged. We absolutely love Sarah and how she handled our yorkie in our training sessions. Our yorkie definitely learned all the commands and she picked up the obedience very quickly. Our yorkie is very stubborn and has serious dominance issues so it took her awhile to accept Sarah but eventually she did. Our last session with Sarah and Jack was so awesome as they helped with accumulating her with other dogs because we are thinking of getting another puppy. It didn't go as well as we wanted but at least now we know what we need to do. They have daycare and boarding which is also amazing. The staff their are friendly and great with the dogs. All the dogs there are well trained and happy. We highly recommend this place for training, daycare, and boarding. read more

We are new to Riverside and new puppy owners. We were looking for a place to socialize our dog and we are so happy to have found Better K9. The staff is very caring, professional and welcoming. Our puppy absolutely loves going here, he runs through the gate and doesn't look back. He comes home at the end of the day worn out and happy. So far we've taken him for daycare but in July we are putting him through one of their board and train programs and looking forward to the end result. We've also used the Corona location, it's 100% the same. I highly recommend either location, you won't be disappointed. Our goldendoodle Bober stayed for boarding this week and everything went perfect. The staff was kind and understanding and our dog came home happy and exhausted from all of his pack playtime. Better K9 has exceeded my expectations! This is the first time my 8 month old puppy, Mochi, has been boarded. I was a nervous wreck leaving him. The staff was beyond amazing and friendly, so professional. Huge shoutout to Cheyenne, Viviana, and Jessica, for answering all of my questions and being so wonderful. Cheyenne updated me with pictures and text messages throughout Mochi's stay, and she definitely eased my anxiety. She was so willing to take him an extra day at the last minute too. I am heartbroken leaving my baby pup at Better K9. We opted for overnight and a day of play. The day of pick up, I get a message from Cheyenne who lets me know that my pups pick up is today, and if needed we can extend stay. This was the only communication ever received from Better K9, and given they seemed happy to extend stay (message followed by happy face emoji and no mention of issues) I thought everything was fine. When I went to pick him up, I find out that my pup has been isolated in a cage the ENTIRE TIME. No interaction with dogs or staff due to being skittish. No one ever reached out to me to update me on this status the entire time he was boarded. When we picked up, it was so cold outside and I felt so bad for my pup who was in a cage outside. Additionally on arrival, I heard harsh yelling from staff at the dogs. My puppy was SO SAD the entire car ride home, he curled into a ball in the backseat and didn't even look at me, even when I called his name. When I got home, he gobbled down food like he was starving, even though they said they fed him, it doesn't show. It broke me to see him this upset, and very clearly there is something wrong with this facility. Something horrible and terrifying happened to my puppy here and I am very worried that he was verbally or physically mistreated from the distress he is suffering. It hurts knowing that the staff didn't give him a chance. They just shoved him in a cage to not deal with him once my puppy showed signs of fear (even though they have "trainers" to deal with this). What hurts even more that that this is how my puppy was being treated, and they were willing to extend his stay. It's absolutely ridiculous and horrendous to keep him in that condition without letting us know. If we wanted our puppy to be boarded in isolation, we would have boarded him at the vet - not a daycare with playtime. We were so misled. The dishonesty is appalling and I will never choose to support this business again. Unqualified staff who don't understand dogs and leave those who don't meet their standards in neglect. read more

Sarah and the other trainers certainly worked him and since coming home even my partner has stated that it is like night and day. Update: A manager called us and said they don't know what happened because they weren't there and they don't know what can be done to remedy the situation. They suggested the staff member will be talked to because they likely misplaced the food and didn't look hard enough for it - of course, they also lied to us about whatever might have happened. This place ought to be working overtime to make sure no dogs are mistreated. I am not the only 1 star reviewer who had a problem with staff lying to customers. read more

We spent the $200.00, met the owner, he came out. Had good input. He told us he would be coming back. We never heard from him again. I then called to set it up as we needed this training right away. We purchased everything he said. The muzzle size was not the correct size. I texted him. He never replied. Then I called him. He was busy and stated he would call back in 15 min. He never called. A few days later I messaged again. No reply. Then he called after someone else got involved, I couldn't answer. He left a voice mail. I returned it about 20 min later. His secretary took the message and I've never heard from him to this day. Sad to say, but I would not personally recommend this company. When people are paying for your services they should not be ignored. Happy customers have word of mouth. Please do not bring your dog here for boarding. I want to give some background on my dog. He's a 13 year old pitty, and doesn't do much but he is dog reactive. I've boarded him twice here and he's had his own suite separate and inside away from other dogs ensuring me he'd be safe. The first time I boarded my dog he had his nails clipped so short there was blood on his paws when picking him up. Mind you I never asked for a grooming because he already gets groomed at home and I don't trust others to do it. I decided months later to give it another try and it will be the last time doing so. When I dropped off my dog I let them know he was having a urination problem, they told me it would be fine and he was in good hands. He was boarding in a suite for 3 days and 2 nights and I know within that time frame he was abused. I picked him up and his nose was cut and had dried blood on his snout. Secondly, the moment I put him in the car I knew something was wrong. He was visibly shaking and wasn't panting. I called the vet to which they told me if they aren't panting they're scared and something must have happened to him. Lastly, the moment we arrived home he drank so much water I had to tank his bowl from him to prevent him from being sick. It was clear they deprived him of water because of his urination problem. I discussed the urination problem weeks in advanced when I booked his appointment so to see that this was how he was treated is absolutely disturbing. My fur baby has been acting very nervous since coming home and I've been trying my best to comfort him but he's still visibly shaken. Please for whatever it may be do not bring your dogs here for boarding. They will be abused. read more

Dropped my dog off here this past weekend where he stayed for two nights. I've never used anything like this and even looked at other services such as rover.com and other boarding recommendations but my last call was to better k-9. From the first call to the pick up of my pet I had all of my questions answered thoroughly and everyone I spoke with on the phone or through texts was friendly and polite. Upon pick up, I had asked if they would be willing to show me around, which they were happy to do for me. I had read somewhere that someone said they wouldn't let her look at the place. Well, it might have been at that very moment, but they need notice so they have the time to field all of the dogs into another area for everyone's safety. The grounds were spacious and clean with lots of shaded areas. All of the dogs I saw were happy and playing, no dog looked like they weren't happy to be there. The reason I really wanted a facility such as this is the fact these are dog people. They know how to read them and intervene when necessary. They picked up on my young dog not feeling comfortable around the whole pack of the dogs, so they segregated him with some others that also appreciated a little less commotion. They knew the dogs, their names and their quarks. The dogs were happy and well taken care of. The last thing I wanted to mention is that we will be back. Audrey and her staff take wonderful care of our pups when we are away. Both the Corona and Riverside facilities are convenient, clean, and great environments. One of our dogs can be anxious and they are great at keeping him comfortable and feeling safe. They administer medication, do training, and even provide grooming. We couldn't ask for better service! All 3 of our pups get so excited when they get to go to their favorite vacation spot and it makes it so much easier for us to be gone. read more

So we have got our dog trained at this facility and it was great excellent at first but recently last Thursday till this Sunday past Sunday we drop the dog off and when we picked her up she had a laceration on her jaw line and we were never notified about the situation I talk to the manager and the owner of the company and they did not want to rectify the situation at any given point so if I was you guys whoever have dogs at this facility I would definitely look into your dog being miss treated and nothing being documented in regards to that I have pictures to prove this situation we took our dog to the vet and we asked him to pay the bill and they refused to do so the situation happened at their facility they didn't reprimand anyone in regards to the situation this place is unsuitable for any dog or human to be there people should call the Better Business Bureau to report these people of miss treating animals. Animals have feelings just like humans and our dog is only four months old unfortunately dogs can't speak for their self so in her defense we have to speak for her it's just a sad story overall that there's people out there that miss treat animals and no of it and have videotapes of the situation but choose not to rectify the situation please whatever you do think about dealing with this facility if there's anyone out there that has connections to the news or social media please get this out there as soon as possible so no one else becomes a victim to this facility like my wife and I did read more

My family could not be more impressed by Better K9 Riverside. We enrolled our 5 month old golden retriever puppy for the board and train program. Before training, our pup was one wild and rambunctious girl. I have three little ones, ages 2, 6, and 8. Our house was pure chaos 24/7. I needed a lot of help with our crazy puppy. My jaw was on the floor when I first witnessed all the obedience commands our puppy has learned. Her trainer Sarah is truly one of a kind, you can tell she loves animals and is extremely knowledgeable and also just so sweet! Our puppy post training is a dream come true to say the least! She no longer pulls the leash on walks, follows her commands, and does not bark in her crate. She has learned how to greet new people more appropriately, and listens to my commands when she has the urge to jump or mouth other people. Very disappointing experience. When I got to the facility on the scheduled assessment/day care day (1st visit) arranged with Cheyenne, they wouldn't even let me in to see the facilities saying that, "due to COVID" they couldn't let me in. Not one person in the facility was wearing a mask so their concern about COVID didn't seem to add up & it wasn't communicated on the phone. I called the facility when I got home & Cheyenne setup a tour when I picked up my dog stating that I couldn't come in before because of a training session that was going on, which was different that what I was told in the morning. I asked how my dog did & she responded that she didn't know but would ask the trainer. Cheyenne had mentioned that my dog what put in the individuals kennels with the aggressive dogs as they would need to further assess him. I couldn't get a straight answer about how they worked with my dog on that day and I have never seen my dog behave the way he did when he was with the trainer. My dog is around a lot of people as we have teenagers constantly coming and going, he does training with groups of people & dogs and camps with us. When I recognized the odd behavior (backing away with head down) and asked the trainer about it, he responded by stating that my dog had failed out of Corona Better K9 so he needs to work on things. He has NEVER been to the Corona facility and a trainer should have recognized that the dog is not fixed & can't go to Corona. The trainer obviously knew nothing about my dog & was very defensive. My dog was fine with others at the facility, was wagging when approached and had his head up. We couldn't wait to get out of Better K9 Riverside and we won't be back. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Better K9 with our one year old shiba inu who did the board n train program recently. And if anyone knows anything about shiba inus, they are very hyper & extremely stubborn. Since completing the program three weeks ago, our dog is a different dog but in a good way. He's much more obedient, he's better at socializing with other dogs & other people, he shows more affection, and exhibits a much more calming nature. It's as if his old hyperactive nature was replaced with maturity & love. Our dog was trained by Noah who is very knowledgeable & informative. Noah was very helpful in demonstrating the various commands that our dog learned & provided us with great tips on other issues we've encountered since our dog has returned home. If you're thinking about bringing your dog to a training facility, we highly recommend Better K9. We plan on getting a second dog in the future and we'll definitely bring he or she to Better K9. read more

I absolutely love Better K-9. We've had our dog at both the Harley John Rd facility and the Corona, CA facility and he loves it. I refer all my family and friends there for their training, kennel services (overnights included for business trips), grooming and daycare services. My dog is a rescue and initially not very social and extremely anxious. Their professional choice to slowly integrate and socialize our dog was not only miraculously result yielding, but also a display of experience and the wisest choice for our dog's safety, and for all the other dogs being cared for as well. I am happy to report that our dog has made huge strides and loves playing and socializing with several of the "regulars" that go to their facilities. Their willingness and compassion to care for and structure not only our dog's daily activities and training, but also his special diet and skin care as he has skin and food allergies, has made them our most trusted resource for dog care, grooming and most especially their training. Our boy is a happy doggy now and whereas before his separation anxiety kept him from just being able to play and enjoy himself, he now jumps out of the car to greet their certified trainers and staff. If I could give them a zero I would both my dogs have kennel cough my dog was freshly hosed off when I arrived which is why I waited 25 minutes to get my dogs out she smelled horrible like feces she also lost 10 lbs while there my little one lost weight too my vet said it's where they were boarded with 100% certainty when I asked the k9 boarding facility if they needed their updated records answered with a blank stare I said oh you mustn't need them just yet didnt think anything of it now I'm beginning to wonder if they even check I'm in the process of contacting anyone who may be able to go to the facility to check and make sure it's considered a humane place to keep your animals when we were leaving we noticed suspicious activity when I asked if I could check out the facility they wouldn't allow it for insurance reasons because of the other animals in the yard note taken please you will regret taking your animals here! read more
