I can't say enough good things about K9 Companions, the training they provide to the dogs, the service provided and the facility itself. The facility is tucked away from the street so it's not something you will see at the side of the road, but I think this is perfect since the dogs are not distracted by road noise. After going through the 2-week bootcamp with my German Shepherd 20 years ago (Diane was the trainer) and seeing the amazing results (wild banshee to calm, well behaved dog), I didn't hesitate in November 2024 to send my new fur friend Cooper, the American Bulldog to bootcamp as well. It was great to see that Diane is still there sharing her expertise with the dogs and their owners. My biggest struggle with Cooper was the heavy leash pulling while on walks. I would come home with sore arms and a sore back. Now, he is a pleasure to walk with and I don't need any grip on the leash. Of course there are many other positive results of the training in addition to basic commands, such as general obedience, structure and patience. Additionally, I have enrolled Cooper in the board and brush up overnight stays and continue to see positive results each and every time. Highly recommend K9 Companions! read more

I brought my rescue dog here a few years back for their bootcamp and it was honestly life changing. He was incredibly reactive on a leash-- lunging/growling/barking at other dogs on walks and even lunging at his own reflection in the mirror. He also had horrible separation anxiety. We put our 5 month old American Bulldog, Libby, through their board & train program after being referred by 2 of our friends. Libby is very shy and timid so we were told she would most likely need more than the 2 weeks and that if it was just just few extra days there wouldn't be a charge, but if she needed the 3rd week it would be more (and they gave us that pricing upfront). We loved their transparency and their dedication and willingness to add a few days without charge. I also love that they don't use shock collars, as almost every other board & train program I called insisted on using them even after I explained it wouldn't be good for our girl's disposition. On drop off day Libby was so timid and scard that she had to be carried away by the compassionate staff (seriously, the only reason I could leave her was I could tell they really care and love the dogs). 2 weeks and 3 days later we picked Libby up and I was so shocked during the demonstration that I actually cried. She was trotting around more confident than I had ever seen her. She knew her commands and was so good. Yes, there is homework. Yes, we have to still train daily. But that makes sense to us. If you don't use it you lose it, and she needs to practice listening to us and learning that we are her pack leaders. You get an in-home training about a week after pick up which was so valuable. We did some trouble shooting, they taught us how to do boundary training so that we can have her on our front patio without a gate and know she won't run off. I absolutely would never have another dog that doesn't go through K9 Companion's board and train program. It was worth every penny. read more

We were at our wits end with our 10-month old Chiweenie named Frida. We got her at 3 months old right before the pandemic lockdowns and we were unable to socialize her during her critical early months. Now we had a big problem on our hands with a very fearful yet willful little dog. Her main issues were food guarding and a fear of strangers. She was SO terrified of people near her that she would literally poop from terror and fear. She was only getting worse and worse, requiring professional help. K-9 companions took her in on a 2 week bootcamp and were so kind and patient with us as we called to get status updates on her. We were so worried Frida was beyond help. After a few days at their facility, Frida slowly started coming out of her shell and the real work began. They use positive training methods, you can tell everyone really cares for the dogs they work with. They were so patient with her. So good to her. The 2 week bootcamp comes with a home-visit with one of their trainers and 3 on-site sessions. The home visit with Scott was absolutely amazing and it helped us finally start putting an end to her food guarding in the home. After the training we had a realtor come to our home and carpet installers -- and Frida did not poop herself! She seemed shy around the visitors but she was much more confident! We are so happy! While we were the ones to adopt Frida from the shelter, K-9 Companions saved her life by desensitizing her and working with her and by giving us the tools we needed to correct her behavior before she got any worse. We are so happy with the progress we've already seen with our extremely energetic/goofy 10-month old GSD Delilah now that she's completed a 2-week bootcamp training through K-9 Companions. We got Delilah at the start of the stay-at-home order, which made it difficult to socialize her around other people/dogs. Given her protective personality, we knew it was going to be an uphill battle in helping Delilah gain the confidence she needed to be comfortable around strangers/other dogs. The trainers are extremely patient, knowledgeable and helpful, and the in-home session and continued in-field sessions are a plus! My husband and I have learned so much from Scott and Nova! Although it's a continued work in progress, we now have the tools we need to help Delilah through her insecurities and to show others the smart sweetheart that she truly is. Our walks with her are more manageable, and we are slowly (but surely) teaching her that WE are the "pack leaders," not her.
