Really cute coffee shop that seems to be pretty popular with a steady flow of customers! I'm from Sac but came here to study for the day while waiting for my dog to finish surgery at a local vet clinic here in Rocklin. This coffee shop has ample seating, is very clean, and has plenty of parking spaces available in the surrounding lots. The staff do a great job at keeping the tables and floors clean, and their baristas are friendly. I spent about $11 for an iced mocha latte and everything bagel with cream cheese, which is typical pricing these days. No complaints for the coffee or bagel :-) After being here for about 2 hours, they seemed to have cranked up the AC. Even with my jacket on, it's pretty chilly so I'll likely head out shortly. Otherwise, great ambience for getting some work done (with headphones on). Wouldn't recommend this shop though if you need to hop on a call or meeting, as the ambient noise from their overhead music, coffee grinder, and customers talking can be pretty loud. read more

I am in the area often and had to get a pick me up so what better than a local coffee shop. They have a nice, open space, and there were several people there on a Saturday around noon. They serve some food items and some seasonal coffees. I got one regular and seasonal coffee. The Honey latte wasn't too sweet but not as strong as expected. I also got the toffee nut latte, and that really didn't have much toffee nut flavor, more like just a latte. Next time, I will definitely check out the other seasonal and maybe just espresso to see how that measures up. read more

As a way to explore other options I try to open my mind to new places and more often than not I'm underwhelmed. Pause on the other hand hits all of the caffeine essentials. The syrups are not overpowering so you can really savor the flavor of the coffee. The shop is open and you can often find many people with their laptops indulging on their caffeine and neck deep into their work loads. The staff is usually warm and welcoming. This has always been one of my favorite locations, and I've visited many times over the years. Unfortunately, the service has noticeably declined. On several visits, I've seen baristas chatting with friends instead of preparing drinks, and it's taken over 10 minutes to receive my order--even with no line. On one particular visit, our drinks were made incorrectly. When we politely brought it to the attention of the barista with long blonde hair and glasses, she acknowledged the mistake and said she'd remake them. However, after waiting 15 minutes with no update, we ended up getting back in line (another 10-minute wait) just to follow up. In total, it took 40 minutes from the time we received our original drinks to finally get the corrected ones. It's disappointing to experience this level of service at a location that used to be so reliable. The atmosphere is nice, and the drinks are decent--but not exceptional. For what you get, especially compared to other local coffee spots in Sacramento, the prices feel a bit steep. read more

I ordered the strawberry matcha and if you're a matcha lover and know what's good, then you will be disappointed. Faint strawberry flavor and there wasn't even muddled strawberries on the bottom. It just looked like a bunch of seeds. Also, on the menu it clearly shows that the strawberry matcha is $7.75 for the 16 oz. We paid more because of the added strawberry in the matcha. Which literally doesn't make sense at all. Anyways buy ippodo matcha powder and make it your self at home if you want good matcha In Sacramento. read more

Pause has become my go-to recommendation amongst those who are looking for a coffee shop to catch up at. It is spacious and clean with lots of natural light pouring in. The service is always friendly (hat tip to Nathaniel and crew), the coffee is excellent, and the food is divine. They sell pastries from Ettore's and also have a nice selection of savory hot breakfast/brunch items. I am partial to that breakfast bagel which is delicious! Highly recommend. read more

Butterscotch latte w/ oatmilk is HER!!! I was told that this is the only Pause location that has butterscotch and I would gladly make the drive here over and over again for it. I felt so uncomfortable in here, so much so that this is the first yelp review I've ever made. The staff were incredibly rude and made me feel like an inconvenience for just walking in. I was met with hostility before I even spoke. I would completely understand this if they were slammed and stressed out by everything, but I was the only person in line and (to me) it looked like they weren't working on any drinks/pressing tasks. I've worked in customer service for years and always try to take the employees behavior with a grain of salt anywhere I go because I know it's not easy work to be dealing with the public, but this was unbelievable. The shop was staffed with four employees (from what I could see), so having that many people there, even during slow times, is awesome. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered a cold brew for myself, and some strawberry lemonades for the kids. The cold brew had strong floral notes and needed some sugar to mellow it out. I love the ambiance of this location. The drinks are hit or miss. Sometimes the espresso coffee tastes horribly sour. Undrinkable sour. Other times it's excellent. Which is a drag. The customer service is subpar. Some of the female employees lack any there of and look at you like they that hate your presence, hate working there, and don't want to be making your order no matter when and what it is. Only get drinks at Pause coffee, the food is overpriced and rushed. The bagel sandwich was not tasty and the pre made egg that was made in mold just slips out of the sandwich, one small piece of meat. I paid $25 for two sandwiches and they were not worth it at all. Pretty large coffeehouse with a cool vibe and quality drinks. We sat outside because I brought my infant. There were a bunch of tables but they all face the parking lot. The garbage truck made its rounds that morning and it was quite noisy. I ordered a pumpkin cold brew and my sister ordered an iced maple latte. I enjoyed mine but there was a little too much ice, so I would recommend specifying light ice when ordering. My sister didn't think there was enough or a maple flavor in her latte, even after bringing the drink back to get more maple added. They have a small selection of pastries so I would recommend getting there early before they run out. I had an almond croissant which was on the small side and was pretty flat for a croissant. This is the place for everyone! The environment is so calm and relaxed, especially if you are here to study or work. I come here to study for a state exam and can always focus. The set up works great in here, they have large desks to work on as a group or for space and individual desks if you working solo. Enough outlets to charge your phones and a restroom is available. The staff are super friendly, and will offer recommendation to your liking, I'm a sweet coffee girl and the butterscotch latte did not disappoint. They have a selection of pastries, that are yummy! Everything tasted good and the latte art was a nice touch BUT we didn't taste the maple in our lattes, and the avocado toast was soggy and for the price should be a little better. I don't like sundried tomato's so I asked for none. But cherry tomato's would be a better option. I was also bothered I wasn't asked if I wanted "for here or to go?". The gal who rang me up turned away from me so quick and already had to go cups in her hands and the line was building up behind me I didn't say anything. But I was bummed the rest of my stay. The atmosphere is great, however, the breakfast I ordered was mediocre at best. I was given a buzzer and was informed that it would go off when my food was ready which it did not, and they did not call out my food order. I was only 1/3 guest in here at the time, so I felt the buzzer was unnecessary and it proved to be so. I ordered the savory crepe, and to say it was lacking umami is an understatement. The avocado I requested to be added on was overpowering, the prosciutto overcooked, and the egg was overdone. The lavender latte, which I got with oat instead of whole milk, was underwhelming. Luck did fuel me with just enough caffeine to get up and out of there. I don't want to write the coffee shop off just yet, as I'm a firm believer in second chances. Looking for good quality coffee? --This won't be the place to have it, sadly. I ordered the maple latte and my boyfriend ordered the mocha. We were both pretty disappointed about how sweet they both tasted. It was hard for me to drink the rest of my maple latte, so I ordered a tall cup of glass, drank it half way and poured the coffee into the glass cup. It was easier to drink, but still very sweet, so I didn't finish the drink. Customer service here was so-so. The barista and cashier didn't seem to know the menu well, and it may have been that this place was under new ownership. It was disappointing to stand in front of the cashier and ask a question about the sandwiches and having her not know what was inside the Italian panini. The Italian panini was okay too. Probably will buy again if I was hungry. This place has free WiFi, and a great place to hangout and do school/business work. Probably will never buy coffee here again, but might come back to work on a few papers from school. Parking can be hard to find because of limited parking. It also fills up really fast if you come later in the day. I've also been to origins coffee before they were under new ownership and I enjoyed their coffee, it wasn't the best beans I've had, but good enough to drink and enjoy. So pretty disappointed that the coffee drinks went downhill for me. read more
