I've been to this place a couple times before because it is very close to my house and it has a very cozy vibe. I used to come here to study before my finals and AP exams and it's definitely the perfect place for it, but I will say their stuff is a little bit more expensive for what u get. I've been to a pause at other locations and have had wonderful experiences. I was disappointed in my experience here , unfortunately. Upon ordering the peanut butter mocha , one iced and one hot, and a couple of breakfast sandwiches we promptly took a seat to wait for our order. When our drinks were called out I picked them up and upon seeing them & tasting them could tell that there was no chocolate in them. I retired to the bar and tried to speak to the barista and she looked at me and looked away completely ignoring me as I tried to talk to her and scoffed a bit. I felt a bit awkward standing there .... When the person at the register with whom we had ordered saw this and came over. I explained to them that the drink didn't taste right ... that we had ordered a peanut butter mocha. He looked a bit confused and then said that he thought we had gotten a peanut butter latte... this was a bit confusing as the seasonal drink on the menu that we pointed at was the peanut butter mocha. He did offer to remake them and we took him up on that. The drinks were much better the second time around! The awkwardness with the barista left me feeling uncomfortable.... This was our first time at this Pause location. Parking is pretty tight but we lucked out with front row parking! The girls working were welcoming and helped by answering a couple questions we had about the menu. We decided on the Pumpkin Spice Latte, Banana Foam Matcha and Strawberry Lemonade. The coffee itself is nice, but it's just a very slow and busy place. Parking can be tight unless you park further away at a different business. My main issue is that it takes so long to get just a basic cup of coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and it took 16 to 17 minutes. Overall, this is probably my favorite coffee shop in Rocklin. I always order an iced butterscotch oatmilk latte and I add cinnamon. The lattes are always amazing and I also love their chicken caesar wrap. (I find they don't normally put enough ice so I usually ask for extra.) The downsides to this place though are occasionally the attentiveness of the staff, as I've come in a few times and waited awhile before being acknowledged by a staff member. They aren't normally all that cheerful or friendly, but I take that with a grain of salt. They also don't always call out your order when your drink is ready, even when you're standing in front of the pickup counter, so be mindful of that. The coffees are a bit pricey, as I pay $7.75 for the larger size, but overall, this never stops me from coming back. I hope Pause stays around for a long time! read more

Definitely not what it used to be. Used to frequent this place before and after the change in ownership. Stopped by for coffee recently, the space has seen a lot of changes. Definitely not as cozy, the space is dimly lit and it seems like new owners tried to cram as many seats as possible in the space. I mean I get the business incentive of that but this shop definitely feels a lot more like a crowded school cafeteria. It doesnt help that theyve crammed every empty wall and table surface that isnt cluttered with some kind of merchendise. In terms of service Its dificult to hear for your order. Again, The bar is cluttered and service is slow. Its hard not to notice even past the pleasant nostolgia that made me want to visit. I dont think Id recommend this shop to anyone new. The seasonal Bourbon Cardamom latte is so good, their matcha lattes also a fan favorite I try to branch out to other coffee shops but nothing compares to the kind and understanding employees and the delicious coffee they make EVERY. Visiting family in Rocklin and wanted to try a craft coffee house. Found this on Yelp and walked in to check it out. Both drink were made really well, we could taste the flavors of the coffees and the ice never melted down. The space was huge and had lots of seating. The menu was a good mix and they had specials for the summer. Barista was nice and friendly. I waited about 5-7 minutes for my drink but it was worth it. I'll be back! read more

Happy to find this larger location of this coffee house. In the area today, so visited. They have crepes! The strawberry/banana with Nutella crepe was wonderful. Had the same Summer Peach iced tea as the usual location I visit. Yum! Large parking lot around this store and easy to navigate to enjoy this place. This would be my go-to coffee spot to do homework or read a book if I lived in the area. I came to Pause since I was in the area waiting to go to another event. Its easy to find and plenty of parking in the shopping center. I would say it's bigger than your usual coffee shop. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much seating is available! There's a large table in the middle, high table along the front, and small coffee tables. They offer a variety of coffee as well as food like breakfast sandwiches, bagels, avocado toast, crepes, and oats. I ordered a white mocha with chocolate drizzle and oat milk and avocado toast and my total came out to a little over $17. The coffee was good. Avocado toast had a hint of lemon, which I think most do, but you're definitely able to pick up on it with theirs- also contains sun dried tomatoes and arugula- very good! There was only one staff member that I saw and he was working hard. Service was good, ambiance was good, not a lot of distractions and I feel like I'd be able to stay here a few hours to get work done. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area again! read more

After my son's morning baseball game we wanted some coffee . I looked for some coffee shops on yelp near us . This one showed up and it caught my eye. After arriving to the location which was like two minutes away from the baseball field I realized I had been here before, but it was called a different name I am assuming under new ownership. The inside and everything was exactly the same. Inside its a nice big open space perfect for studying/working and hanging out . They also have some outdoor seating available. I ordered from the seasonal menu I got the Harvest spice latte which is a pumpkin latte so delicious. My mug came with a cute design too ! For food I ordered the avocado toast it had the perfect amount of avocado . My son ordered the hibiscus tea and a huge pastry . The pastries they offer are from Ettore's Bakery I had their cakes before and they are super good so I was glad to see the pastries were from that bakery. The staff is all very friendly and attentive. This is a great place to grab a good cup of Joe or Tea . They offer breakfast goodies and good pastries. I seen a lot of people with their laptops just relaxing, enjoying a cup of coffee. I will definitely be coming back. read more

They also took quite a while to prepare, which added to the underwhelming experience. What stood out most was the surprisingly rude attitude of the employee at the register. As I always say to myself, sometimes I need to pause and take a break from all the hustle and bustle that surrounds my life. And this is where "Pause Coffee House" comes in the picture. Located directly at the corner of Sunset Blvd & Park Dr in the heart of Rocklin, this coffee house is their 2nd location that opened in early-2020. Many people who have had their coffee already are familiar with their Fair Oaks location (at Madison Ave/Fair Oaks Blvd). I was eager to try this one out as I was in this area for the day. Since I was in need of my coffee fix, I came here later in the day at around 2:15pm on Saturday 10/14/2023. The inside of this place is just a tad bit smaller than their flagship location in Fair Oaks but nonetheless, it has a very warm, cozy, and inviting feel to it. The interior is housed with very high ceilings and an abundance of wooden tables throughout, excellent for studying and working. The Wi-Fi speeds are quick while power outlets are readily available to keep your smartphone/tablet/laptop charged. Finally, they offer two restrooms and generous outdoor seating. Since it was a fairly warm fall afternoon (around 80°F), I decided to go with a cold beverage and settled with a 12 oz. size of their "Iced Brown Sugar Latte". Since this was past their morning rush, my drink was made within a couple minutes and handed to me at the pickup area. This is one of my favorite espresso drinks as I enjoy the bitterness of the espresso combined with the sweet brown sugar as it has never disappointed. All in all, this is a great, small family owned business that is worth checking out. It is also miles ahead better in quality and service than Starbucks and Peet's. For those that may not know, this is once the place where "Origin Coffee & Tea" stood for many years. The hours here are decent as they are opened for business 7 days a week from 8:00am-6:00pm. With the excellent service, great ambiance, and tasty drinks, I am giving the Rocklin "Pause Coffee House" a unanimous five-star rating. read more

Really cute coffee shop that seems to be pretty popular with a steady flow of customers! I'm from Sac but came here to study for the day while waiting for my dog to finish surgery at a local vet clinic here in Rocklin. This coffee shop has ample seating, is very clean, and has plenty of parking spaces available in the surrounding lots. The staff do a great job at keeping the tables and floors clean, and their baristas are friendly. I spent about $11 for an iced mocha latte and everything bagel with cream cheese, which is typical pricing these days. No complaints for the coffee or bagel :-) After being here for about 2 hours, they seemed to have cranked up the AC. Even with my jacket on, it's pretty chilly so I'll likely head out shortly. Otherwise, great ambience for getting some work done (with headphones on). Wouldn't recommend this shop though if you need to hop on a call or meeting, as the ambient noise from their overhead music, coffee grinder, and customers talking can be pretty loud. read more

I am in the area often and had to get a pick me up so what better than a local coffee shop. They have a nice, open space, and there were several people there on a Saturday around noon. They serve some food items and some seasonal coffees. I got one regular and seasonal coffee. The Honey latte wasn't too sweet but not as strong as expected. I also got the toffee nut latte, and that really didn't have much toffee nut flavor, more like just a latte. This has always been one of my favorite locations, and I've visited many times over the years. Unfortunately, the service has noticeably declined. On several visits, I've seen baristas chatting with friends instead of preparing drinks, and it's taken over 10 minutes to receive my order--even with no line. On one particular visit, our drinks were made incorrectly. When we politely brought it to the attention of the barista with long blonde hair and glasses, she acknowledged the mistake and said she'd remake them. However, after waiting 15 minutes with no update, we ended up getting back in line (another 10-minute wait) just to follow up. In total, it took 40 minutes from the time we received our original drinks to finally get the corrected ones. It's disappointing to experience this level of service at a location that used to be so reliable. The atmosphere is nice, and the drinks are decent--but not exceptional. For what you get, especially compared to other local coffee spots in Sacramento, the prices feel a bit steep. read more

I ordered the strawberry matcha and if you're a matcha lover and know what's good, then you will be disappointed. Faint strawberry flavor and there wasn't even muddled strawberries on the bottom. It just looked like a bunch of seeds. Also, on the menu it clearly shows that the strawberry matcha is $7.75 for the 16 oz. We paid more because of the added strawberry in the matcha.
