My "new" used 2022 Subaru Ascent
Jessi S.

I had a great experience buying a car at Paul Miller Subaru. I've had my eye on a Subaru Ascent for years, but knew that buying a car during this time wasn't the best idea. I would always check Subaru websites for new and used cars hoping to find a deal somewhere. Well, it finally came through Paul Miller Subaru. I saw on their website they were selling a used 2022 gray Ascent with the Touring trim for an excellent price and super low mileage. I quickly emailed the dealership and asked if I could schedule a test drive. Alivia helped me through that booking process. The day I got there I was directed to Alex and he assisted me through the rest of my car buying experience. It turned out the used gray touring had more miles than advertised which was a little disappointing. I took it for a test drive and then asked about a different used blue limited edition Ascent and I'm glad I did because that became my new car! Alex was a pleasure to work with during the whole process. He was very patient with me and my many questions and concerns. He answered every question I had and was never, ever pushy. It was quite a different experience than other dealers and salespeople I've worked with. When I had to deal with their finance department that went surprisingly well too. Carlos was easy to deal with and again, was not pushy at all. So far, I'm very happy with my purchase and my experience at Paul Miller Subaru. I also received a free first service from them, so we will see how their service department holds up. The reviews have me a bit wary.

My girl!

The dealer lies to you from the beginning to the end. We should just walk out if not misleaded by the Costco auto program.

You're gonna pay for it, but they do a great job here. Also the flexibility with loaner cars has been so helpful.

I called them and they asked me to keep an eye on it, so I did. The error message continued and the car was unable to lock. Then, the Check Engine light came on. I called Paul Miller Audi to report to them that my car would NOT LOCK. The earliest appointment mentioned they had to receive a loaner was 9 days away. Fine. I turned in the car and received a loaner. It was a "Late 2025" Q5, same as the car I leased. THIS LOANER BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. It overheated and had a drivetrain malfunction. I called Audi and they told me it was my responsibility to have it towed back to the dealership. I was not charged, but I had to wait with the car in the freezing cold for one hour and a half. When I asked them if I was able to Uber to work and if they would cover the expense they said "NO". I returned to Paul Miller and they had another loaner waiting for me. Funny how they had it so quickly. Now for the unbelievable part. It has now been one month since my brand new car has been in the shop. There is still no ETA on when the car will be fixed. I am still being billed for the car AND ON TOP OF IT I AM STILL BEING BILLED FOR MY PREVIOUS Q5 THAT I RETURNED WHEN I LEASED THE NEW ONE!!! YES, I'M BEING CHARGED FOR BOTH!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT BUY AN AUDI. PAUL MILLER CUSTOMER SERVICE COULD NOT BE WORSE. ED IS THE GENERAL MANAGER, "We don't make the cars, we gave you a loaner, you need to pay your bill, there's NOTHING I CAN DO." This is my 4th AUDI. I have been a loyal customer for 10 years. This is how they treat people. Car still in the shop. No one calls me to apologize. No one knows anything. PLEASE BEWARE.

Finding a good, honest, and reliable mechanic is the Holy Grail for any car owner. Derrick…read moresucceeded where two other mechanics across town had failed. Not only was the diagnosis absolutely correct, but it was explained in a way that actually made sense without talking down to me. Derrick and his team have been my mechanics since I moved to West Orange in 2018, and at this point I trust them completely with my cars. They're straight shooters. If something can wait, they'll tell you. If something needs attention now, they'll show you why. No pressure, no mystery charges, no unnecessary parts swapping. From a technical standpoint, their diagnostics have been consistently spot-on. They don't just throw parts at a problem hoping something sticks; they take the time to trace the root cause, whether it's electrical, drivetrain, or something more subtle that other shops miss. The work is done right the first time, and I've never had to come back for the same issue. Pricing is fair, turnaround times are realistic, and communication is excellent. They treat you like a long-term customer, not a one-time invoice. Shops like this are rare, and if you're looking for a place you can stick with for years, this is it. I recommend them without hesitation.

Their shop is very clean and the mechanics are professional and friendly. Derrick was great to meet after reading so much about him in previous reviews. They have music playing in the three bay work area which is great, it keeps everyone in good spirits while working on your vehicle. Pricing was very reasonable and straightforward (and no games that are played like from my area in NYC where there is a cash vs credit price where merchants charge you 2-5% extra if you pay by credit card.) I made an appointment for my service on their website and highly recommend you do as well as opposed to walk-in service as they are very busy and then calling them to confirm that for your requested service that you can wait rather than drop off (BUT that depends on where you live and of course what you need done, I'm in NYC so I can't drop it off and leave and comeback when done, I need to wait; if I needed time consuming work / parts like the lower block changed on my J35Y6 engine due to the connecting rod recall, I'd need to leave it there and come back when done days later of course, but for fluid changes like oil/atf/differential/transfer case/break/coolant, I would wait.) For my service, they got to my vehicle quickly and the service was perfect and took the exact amount of time to do it right. I'll be coming back for service for both of my vehicles going forward. I'm coming from NYC and getting there is very convenient especially if you take the I95 to 280W. I have nothing but praise for Derrick and his team!

Fused into my DNA has been an innate love of cars. I have been into cars for as long as I can…read moreremember. From the time I first learned to drive, I have frequented countless dealerships over the years as I continued my journey towards finding the cars most suited for me. I've sampled a wide array of brands that have included Toyota, Subaru, Infiniti, Acura, Audi and Jaguar. Over the last half decade, I have found myself particularly hooked on the German goodness that has been pumping out of Zuffenhausen. My addiction however has grown to the point where I have now started hunting out rarer Porsche models. Unfortunately, finding vehicles that are spec'd out exactly the way I want them have led me to expand my searches out of California where my home base is. Recently I became fixated on finding a very particular Porsche. After a nationwide search, there were only 3 dealers in the country that had the exact model I wanted. One of them was Paul Miller Porsche in NJ. From the moment I first reached out to them, I was promptly contacted directly by the Business Development Coordinator Lauren Ferretti. After learning about which exact vehicle I was interested in, she kindly introduced me via email to the sales consultant that would be able to help me out the best. This is when I was connected to Norman Mandell. From the get go, Norman was super knowledgeable and helpful. He said he has been selling Porsches for a very long time and you could definitely tell he knew what he was talking about anytime I had a question. To make a long story short, Norman Mandell is the man! Since Norman realized that I really wanted the car that they had in stock, he immediately worked out the best possible price with zero of the frustrating haggling that I had to go through when I bought my other Porsches in California. Since this was the first official car that I was buying from out of state, there were numerous logistical issues. One of the biggest hurdles was that I could not free myself to fly out to NJ from CA. Norman worked around this by helping me see and hear the car live via FaceTime. Through a series of highly efficient text messages, emails, phone calls and overnight FedEx paperwork, Norman helped the deal go through without a hitch. After signing everything and wiring my money to the dealer, Norman personally helped supervise the loading of my vehicle on the enclosed transport carrier that was bringing my vehicle cross country. A week after the pickup in NJ, I had my new Porsche delivered safe and sound directly to my home in CA. Since it has arrived, I've been loving every minute in the new ride. Norman Mandell really made a logistically daunting purchase as painless as possible. Whether you live in NJ or are wanting to buy a Porsche from another state, do yourself a favor and ask directly for Norman!

The salesman gave me a BLANK CONTRACT to sign after we decided on a price. I knew very well how they would fill in everything after we left which was not what we agreed on from my unfortunate experience with them in the past. that they would change everything I was told. The salesman told me I would not be allowed to purchase a car if I didn't agree to buying insurance to cover the theft of the car. Even after I told him I'm already insured for that, he insisted that I wouldn't be allowed to buy the car without buying this worthless insurance. I told him I wouldn't buy the car if he insisted I buy the insurance and he insisted I had no choice. I was insulted and he much later said, after I walked out and told him I didn't want the car that I didn't need the insurance. This salesman obviously lied to me numerous times during the sales process and I called him out on it. I called him a lier and he didn't flinch because I'm sure everyone calls him a lier because he does it so often. If my wife didn't want this car so badly I would have walked out and would have trouble not misbehaving.
