We took our 2015 Chevy Suburban to Schumacher Chevy-Buick (SCB) in Boonton on 6/22/2021. The…read morepurpose of the visit was a noise heard in the rear of the vehicle when coasting and your foot not on the gas. It might be worth mentioning at this point that I am a formerly ASE Certified automotive technician and graduated from automotive technical school with a 4.0 gpa before working for Mercedes Benz Corporate office in Montvale, NJ. I don't typically repair much on my cars anymore as I'm not longer in the industry. What I do still do are belts, brakes and basic repairs not covered under warrantee. Because we were still under the mileage, we thought it worth taking a shot to see if the dealership would cover this repair as I knew it was drivetrain (100,000 miles of 5 years) and we were in our 5th year of ownership. When we arrived at SCB, Darlene from the service counter asked us to describe the noise and we mentioned it sounded like a bearing noise coming from the back of the vehicle. She explained that there would be a $149 charge for a diagnosis but if we decided to have the issue fixed the $149 would be applied to the cost of repair. We were then directed to Wayne in service. When we asked the time would could expect for repair Wayne was short in his reply but mentioned that they had had some cases where folks needed to wait three months for their car to be repaired. I'd also like to mention at this point that my wife was dropping off the car. Unfortunately, this continues to support the poor experience, especially women are subject to in the automotive industry. Wayne told my wife she'd hear back from them in the afternoon as to what they found. That afternoon they called us to inform us their inspection had found that the front brakes, routers, rear brakes, routers, and the entire rear differential needed to be replaced. When I asked more specifically what was producing the noise I was told it was something in the 4-wheel drive system. We asked that they take no action and went to go speak in person and better understand what we were dealing with. When we arrived Darlene told us that the routers were "destroyed" and it was very unsafe to drive. Additionally, she mentioned that there were 0-1MM of depth on the brake pads in the front and the rear pads were barely better. When I asked about the noise and addressed again that was the purpose for the diagnosis, she said it was part of the 4-wheel drive system. When I pressed a little further, she said it was part of the rear drivetrain and that it was very complex. When I asked her specifically what it was and began mentioning things like, wheel bearings, ring-and-pinion, etc, she said that they wouldn't be able to tell without taking the rear differential cover off. I asked what the $149 was for if I didn't get a diagnosis and she said they did diagnose the brakes. This was a bit combative at this point so I simply looked to qualify what she had put in our quote. The entire rear differential (including the housing itself) was quoted as needed to replace. When I questioned this she said they didn't know if it would have to be replaced so they just assume they have to replace the entire rear end. Upon arriving home, Wayne (second service department person) called to apologize and said that he wasn't there in the morning but had been out on training (further showing a lack of responsibility and looking to pass the buck). He went on to explain we would have never had that experience had he been there and to please bring the truck back so that they could diagnose it properly. I asked if that wasn't what I was supposed to have gotten the first time I brought it and he said, "Well yes but if you bring it back we'll do it this time." This brings me to verifying the claims made now that I've had a chance to dive in. You will find a copy of the quote, along with pictures of the actual brake pads I pulled off of the vehicle the following week. The rotors are also in find condition with again the issues we had requested details on were related to the rear differential. This brings me to the question as to whether this is incompetence or criminal. In my quote Darlene told us that the pads were 0-1MM. The lowest of all the pads removed was 5MM with 7MM also present. I will not visit this dealership again in any capacity due to my lack of confidence that they will/can do the right thing. This is ownership down, so any area of business in my opinion is suspect. Be safe out there and if someone over-sensationalizes the statement (these rotors are destroyed, the shocks are leaking fluid right now, the parts are literally collapsing on themselves - all said by Darlene during out time at the dealership) probably worth second guessing.

I'm still in the shopping phase, but my experience at Paul Miller Honda has been very good overall,…read morelargely because of Sebastian V. He's knowledgeable, direct, and has a limited-pressure approach, which I appreciated. (My only critique is that the process became a bit much once additional managers got involved.) The experience works best when the salesperson is given room to lead and work with the customer directly. (Or maybe for clients like me) Everyone has their own pace with purchases.. That said, Sebastian was great to work with.

When I took it back to them they claimed that that was due to an undiagnosed crack under the hood that they hadn't initially seen and wanted $6000 to repair it. The manager was rude, disrespectful and took absolutely no accountability for the fact that his shop failed to make the diagnosis when the car was brought to them initially. Do not go there for anything other than an oil change and honestly don't even go there for that. They will tell you that you need all this unnecessary work and if you let them do it they probably won't even do it right. I traded my car in for a Mazda less than 24 hours after my last visit there and if you're driving a honda and that is where you have to get your car serviced you should do the same.

I still let them do an oil change. When I picked up my car and asked why they kept calling me, I got a bunch of shrugging and "oh, they call me all the time too." I explained it was inconvenient and meant taking another day off work. Still nothing. As I was walking out, the advisor (Kevin Regan) muttered "sorry but yeah I'm not sorry" under his breath. I actually turned around and asked if he wanted to say it to my face. He postured, got aggressive, then hid behind a repeated "have a nice day." Not one other person in the office said a word as he waddled off. I own five Toyotas. This dealership just lost number six.....and the service on my entire little fleet. If Kevin had an ounce of people skills and offered an apology, a 15% token coupon, anything I wouldn't have flinched. But alas, your employees are the face of your business and well, this is an aggressive, sloppy dealership that could care less about you. Some family business Paul Miller is.

I called them and they asked me to keep an eye on it, so I did. The error message continued and the car was unable to lock. Then, the Check Engine light came on. I called Paul Miller Audi to report to them that my car would NOT LOCK. The earliest appointment mentioned they had to receive a loaner was 9 days away. Fine. I turned in the car and received a loaner. It was a "Late 2025" Q5, same as the car I leased. THIS LOANER BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. It overheated and had a drivetrain malfunction. I called Audi and they told me it was my responsibility to have it towed back to the dealership. I was not charged, but I had to wait with the car in the freezing cold for one hour and a half. When I asked them if I was able to Uber to work and if they would cover the expense they said "NO". I returned to Paul Miller and they had another loaner waiting for me. Funny how they had it so quickly. Now for the unbelievable part. It has now been one month since my brand new car has been in the shop. There is still no ETA on when the car will be fixed. I am still being billed for the car AND ON TOP OF IT I AM STILL BEING BILLED FOR MY PREVIOUS Q5 THAT I RETURNED WHEN I LEASED THE NEW ONE!!! YES, I'M BEING CHARGED FOR BOTH!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT BUY AN AUDI. PAUL MILLER CUSTOMER SERVICE COULD NOT BE WORSE. ED IS THE GENERAL MANAGER, "We don't make the cars, we gave you a loaner, you need to pay your bill, there's NOTHING I CAN DO." I sent over requests for 2 or 3 cars to get a feel on prices.. Tatiana was great with replying. I even ghosted them a few times bouncing around looking at all car company deals. But each time I came back they were there like an old friend. After a few weeks of my search I found 2 cars I wanted. I went in, I sat with Dashawn, they were sold. Damn. He showed me the nearest to what I was looking for in my price range. Never with an agenda to get me into something I didn't want. I was discouraged that the car I wanted was gone. I told him thanks but no thanks.. he was great and helpful even in this situation. I should every make model deal I could. I ended up at another Subaru location on a referral. I had to pull teeth to get in my price range. Back and forth 6-7-8 times. I agreed to a deal except the car would be a week away. I left, happy but not so happy, it felt like work, but $34k worse. I get home go to another company, no dice. On my way home I call Tatiana again... Hey I left there a few days ago without pricing on these models.. she got me right to our next hero in the process, Sharon the sales manager. I told her the truth, I checked out another Subaru store. She asked why did I go so far we are neighbors. She literally throw out an IDENTICAL offer in the first 2 mins telling her my story. We agreed to a price in minutes that was better than my 3 hour battle at the other Subaru dealership. She gave me all the time I needed to discuss it with my wife. It was too good to pass up. I was told the cars going in for detailing and prepped for me at like 445, they close at 6, they say come when your ready. I get there like 515. Go right up to Deshawn and he was as happy as the first time I met him, just a nice, honest, positive, straight forward, respectful down to earth guy. It was easy to pick up where we left off. The paperwork was already on the desk ready to go. We went to the finance department. I met Carlos, who is probably the most honest, informative and insightful finance guy I've ever met. A truly great person, the kind you want to sign 25 pages of paperwork with. They were both stuck there with me on a Saturday night well past closing. Deshawn went over every feature in the car, with zero rush. None of this felt even 1/8th as bad or worse than work like the other dealership. You may show up and not get lucky enough to sit with Deshawn or Carlos, but if you can ask for them, do it. An overall incredible experience from a person that hates typical sales people. Forget about the great deal and quality car I bought... The people at this Paul Miller store are there working for you from bottom to top.
