Well, it only occurred to me later, after the car was diagnosed properly at my normal service place - when a car runs out of transmission fluid, might there not be a leak? Shouldn't a good technician realize that and check for a leak? Apparently the fluid was pooling in the tray under the engine. Mike's didn't see that? So A for friendliness, E for effort.
