After reading reviews for several electricians I reached out to Bill at Patton Electric and one other company. Bill called me back within a few minutes and was able to come out to look at my problem the next day (still haven't heard back from the other electrician!). He was exactly on time, was polite, explained to me what he was looking for and doing, and was able to solve the problem we were having which involved a bit of investigative work. I appreciated that although he identified several things which "could" be fixed in the process of fixing this problem, he didn't push me to do any of those other fixes and gave an honest opinion about what was safe versus needed doing. I have had other electricians push me into a much larger scope of work to fix a rather limited problem. He was great with my dog and family. He charged for his time at a very reasonable rate. My husband and I just moved to Watertown and we were in need of a bunch of people to help us fix/improve our place...we needed a plumber, electrician, HVAC service guy, you name it, we needed it. I found Bill on yelp when I decided to finally install a new hanging dining room light. Bill called me back quickly and we set up a time within a few days of my original call. Bill arrived promptly and got to work on my light. When we found out it was missing an important piece to have it installed correctly, Bill thought fast and came up with a creative solution and the light looks amazing. He was friendly, professional, and did great work. I also called Bill back a few weeks later to help hook up my new garbage disposal, and he got back to me super quickly. Bill does great work but I appreciate Bill's responsiveness the most - I've dealt with a lot of contractors in the past few months and many don't even call you back, so Bil responding immediately and being available has been great. Let me start by saying you are going to want to read this review all the way to the end. After he did not complete the work, on the way out, this guy that has been doing electrical work for 30 years told my 22-year-old sister who had opened the door for him, that if she went on a date with him the work would be FREE. Bill was on time and solved 2 out of the 4 issues I had. A breaker had tripped and he turned it back on which took care of the non-functioning outlets. There were three tri-way switches that were not working properly, he fixed only one. When he was done with the one, he called and asked if it was ok to not do the other ones because it would take too long to figure it out since there were so many cables. (Mind you, he did not fail to mention he has 30 years of experience when he said I owed him $250 for two hours of work. Not sure what part of a regular tri-way circuit was so challenging). After living in Watertown for 5 years and going through a bunch of so-so electricians, I finally discovered Bill Patton. Great guy, friendly, listens to you, makes great suggestions, works hard, clean, inexpensive...he's the real deal. I had him install 5 new outlets and a porch light with a switch and all the work was complete in one day and everything was neat and tidy. Bill is fantastic all-around, reminds me of the type of the neighbor you call on when you're in a pinch. Prompt communication, expierence shined throughout the process, and in my situation a flat rate which was close to half of what others wanted just for coming out. I was redoing some track lighting on my aunt's place and was skeptical of the labeling on the breakers, so I had her shut off the main breaker. Then it didn't want to reset...and I didn't want to mess with the live wire coming off the meter. Bill was super prompt throughout the process came over within the hour and we had power back before the cold settled in at night...Great guy when need someone in a pinch! read more

Sent Bill a text on Friday night to fix some outlets at a property I'm renting out. He got back to me promptly and was onsite Saturday morning to do the job. He was efficient and did a good job, so I asked him to come to put in GFIs on Monday. He agreed and in the meantime discovered I didn't have an outlet for a washer at my new place. After he finished the GFIs he came to my house and put in an outlet. My house is an old 1830s home and he put in a less expensive solution to try and gave us the worse case scenario if it doesn't. So far it's working, but if I need to I will definitely call him again. read more

Bill is great! We have hired him twice, and he has done fantastic work on several small jobs. He's fast and delivers high quality results. He also takes the time necessary to understand exactly what you want done and suggests more efficient (and less expensive!) alternatives when appropriate. Also, I will mention that I'm an engineer and I found Bill to be very easy to work with. If you're technical but definitely not an electrician, I think Bill's hard to beat. He will keep your wild conspiracy theories about your building's wiring in check! read more

Bill installed a new bathroom fan for us. He was quick, tidy, and a very nice guy. He offered to schedule early in the morning, he showed up a couple minutes early, and took care of the job fast. I was impressed with how he kept our bathroom tidy while working. He also graciously offered his opinion on other jobs around the condo. We were expecting our second baby soon (as in the next day) and unfortunately overnight our power went out and a few kitchen/dining outlets were not functioning in the morning. Bill was very gracious and came over for the appointment the same day. He was very responsive, arrived earlier than the appointment, and was efficient in figuring out the problem. This is a small thing, but if you are a no-shoes-indoors household- he was sensitive to that and took off his shoes right away. I appreciated that! Bill Patton has saved me twice now with very timely, excellent quality work, friendly service, and good price. Generally electricians and contractors are hit and miss as to responsiveness, and especially timeliness-- they'll hem and haw if your job is not big enough, but Bill is responsive, honest, and gave quotes up front during the visit. 1. The first time, he installed a few motion-sensored outdoor lights with neat wiring that went into the house. 2. Recently my hard-wired fire alarm system sounded at full blast three different times in the middle of one night, with piercing alarm sounds, even invoking the fire department. We were unable to get any sleep, and were afraid for the same the following the night. I contacted Bill Patton, and happily, he offered to come the same day! He suggested replacing the entire system, got all the smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, and replaced all of them, that day! All quiet since! 3. Two days later, when a new washer/dryer got installed, and an outlet was missing in the second floor, he came on the same day, despite prior plans, and saved me again, with a solution that did not cost an arm and a leg, and let us be able to do laundry immediately again. I found Bill here on Yelp when I needed a bunch of odd electrical jobs to be done around my 1920s colonial. I was really impressed with how professional, prompt, and easy-going he was on the job. Some of the things Bill did: added a disposal switch and dealt with a sketchy/illegal under-the-sink electrical situation, fixed an old three-way wall switch that was jammed, added new outlets to rooms, grounded an existing outlet, etc. One of the things he did was to add an outlet to an upstairs bathroom that had no outlets. Others told me it couldn't be done, or if it could, it would cost a small fortune. Bill really thought about how he could make it happen and then did. He did all of these things in one day, and worked like crazy the entire time-- and we have a tricky old house! Also, after the fact, when one of our switches wasn't working in one of the rooms he did work in, he came right when I called (on a Saturday! How's that for service?) and fixed the thing. I would highly recommend Bill Patton to anyone looking for an excellent, trustworthy electrician. Our family couldn't be more pleased with his work. read more
