My elderly parent needed some lights fixed in the kitchen wall. They called Kaufman electric, who came and fixed the lights. They also broke holes in the drywall in order to fix the lights. They left without fixing the drywall. There are big holes in my parents kitchen wall now. We paid the bill (mistake) and then they never came back to fix the wall. I have called several times to discuss this issue, and no return calls have been made to me. Absolutely deplorable! Taking advantage of elderly clients, they should be reported to the BBB, which will be the next letter I write. Make sure they complete the job before paying for it. And, I AM in maine. My elderly parents live in Newton, Mass. which is where they had your company do electrical work. I wrote the check, and spoke with someone in your office a couple of times. read more

Since I'm new to yelp....sorry if my reviews are not up to yelpers standards. I needed some small electrical work done at my rental property in Newton. I tried to call other electricians, but couldn't get through. Dave was the first one to return my call, and I figured since he was from Newton, I'd go local. We scheduled him to come out and estimate the job- I took a day out of work, and 9 am comes- no show 10 am- no show 11 am- no show. finally at 4pm he calls and says he's not going to make it, sets me up for the following week. The next appointment he showed up- late, but he showed up. We went over the projects, and he gave me an estimate. I knew something was up right away. I had priced out the material myself, and his estimate came in at 200 over the cost of material.....for a job that would take at least 8 hours to complete. I've worked with other tradesmen many times before, so I knew malarkey when I saw it. I asked if I could have the quote in writing, and if he could in writing guarantee the price. He tried to talk circles around me-which is not possible, as I'm in sales, so its my job to talk circles around everyone else. He said we should stop worrying about the "bullshit" and sign a contract to get this done. I pointed out the above discrepancies, and got the classic " well, this job isn't even worth the effort." I should have known better after the first day no show, and the crummy way he presents himself. I'd rather have gone to work both days and not lost money. read more

Dave is great. We were lucky enough to be referred to him and use his services for a kitchen renovation and panel upgrade. He and his team (particularly Brian, who spent several days in our house) are prompt, professional, honest and friendly. They are reasonably priced, work efficiently and do very high-quality work (according to our town's electrical inspector). We plan to use Kaufman for an addition to our home this fall and we are happy to have such a great option for a quality electrician. We cannot recommend him enough. read more

Please don't be fooled into signing a contract before meeting for a consult...Shame on us. We were charged $225 for Dave to come to the house and "try" to detect a short in our NuHeat flooring. Nothing else was done. We will definitely go with someone else, to fix the problem. read more

I needed to have a ceiling fan installed in our condo in Brighton. They were the only company that returned my call the same day. I agreed to their hourly rate of $150 per hour. Since we are renting the condo out, we were not there and we received an invoice of $471. I found this outrageously expensive and when I called I was told they spent 3 hours installing the fan. Called few more electricians and asked for a quote after the fact and all the quotes were much lower. Stay away! read more

By far the most expensive service you can imagine, i.e. outrageously, ridiculously expensive. A simple outlet in the garage - no inside wiring, just an outside exposed pipe along the wall and a common outlet on the ceiling - $358.04. It is entirely my fault, only after I received the invoice I called several electricians and all of them quoted me a fixed price between $150 to $200. They also are very liberal with time and easily added 15 minutes to the bill. Beware or even better stay away completely. read more

Dave and his team updated the outlets in our new (but old) home in Newton. With a new baby in the house, we wanted all outlets grounded and child-safe. We also had him install a cable hookup in the master bedroom, and add outlets in the kitchen/basement. They were all very friendly and neat, and completed the project quickly. There was one hiccup, but Dave sent someone to fix it right away. Also, Dave checked our fuse box, found a fire hazard, and fixed it on the spot. He really knows what he is doing. They charged us $130 to press the breaker switch and tell us it was a problem with an electrical component of ours that they don't deal with. I don't mind paying for a visit, but $130 to press a breaker switch is outrageous. They were rude about it when I questioned the bill, as well. read more
