I am so happy to have discovered this local company eponymously named Patsy Kane after the handcrafter of a variety of very New England, quite lovely, preppy and nautical jewelry.
Just yesterday, less than a week after placing my on-line order, I received both my navy knotted "summer bracelet" and a sterling silver "Navigator True North Necklace".
The woven bracelet is Patsy's take on a classic favorite. These have sometimes been called Sailor's Knot bracelets or Surfer bracelets but Patsy's are so much nicer. They are still casual and beachy but with a touch of class.
The addition of the stainless steel marine-grade shackle adds interest and makes the bracelet unique.
What I really love though are Patsy's Navigator pieces. This is where she will stamp your sterling silver bracelet or in my case necklace, with the navigational latitude and longitude coordinates of whatever your special place in the world is.
This could be the coordinates of the town you live in or of some special vacation spot.
Given that I am such a water and boat person, this idea seems especially cool and fun to me. I just had to have a necklace made with one of my favorite destinations etched in silver.
There are Navigator bracelets too. I will be ordering a couple of these pieces as gifts. I love having a way to uniquely pay homage to important places in either my life or that of friends and family.
Check out Patsy's website or visit one of a few stores in Marblehead and on Nantucket that sell her wares. We'll be in Nantucket in two weeks so I just might need to pick myself up another woven bracelet...maybe hot pink?
Patsy is super-responsive to emailed questions and special requests. Prices are quite reasonable. Her packaging is adorable.
