We are tourists, we only get to Salem once a year but we always go into Village Silversmith to shop around and my daughter always buys a silver bracelet or necklace of one kind or another. Last year she bought a beautiful bracelet with large skulls. This year she wasn't able to go with us but I had my orders to take pictures and buy her a bracelet. I got there at the end of the night on a Sunday and took some pictures of the bracelet case and had to call my daughter to talk about which ones she liked. They were actually closing but one of the staff, a very lovely woman with a ton of patience helped me out after I explained that I was trying to do this by phone. Even at the end of the day after a very busy weekend, they still had smiles on their faces and were extremely helpful. We ended up buying a very cool crystal necklace that was a bottle and a bracelet. The staff made what had the potential to be very stressful into a good experience even though I knew that they were probably tired and worn out from the crazy October weekend. Many thanks to the woman who helped me out! See you next year. read more

Pretty cool little place. It was packed when we went and so we didn't get a really see the whole thing but I would definitely suggest spending some time looking to all of the amazing finds in the store read more

Do NOT spend your money on this place. I bought a silver ring and wore it, and by the end of the day, my finger was completely green. I own tons of silver rings and none have ever done this. People spend their hard earned money on this stuff and it's also not right to stamp things as 925, if they are not. Do not recommend. read more

Village Silversmith - Do not spend your money on this place!! Fake silver stamped as 925. People spend their hard earned money on this place. It's sad. - Jewelry Near Me - Salem, Massachusetts

I am so thankful my friend recommended this shop! We bought several pieces at very reasonable prices! They have something for everyone and every employee we encountered was so kind and helpful! What a pleasant shopping experience. We got some great things to remember our trip with. If we're ever in the area again, I know we will be coming here for more purchases. read more

If there's a crystal heaven, it's Village Silversmith. Most higher priced items are in cases and there's an employee parked at different sections so you're never searching for someone to help you. They have tall cases and short cases full of merchandise. It is a bit awkward when you want to see something in the tall cases against the wall because the employee not only has to stand there with you (not really helping more just guarding the cases) but also has to hold your items up at the front. Every piece is visible and easy to see, but I wish they organized their layout differently. In the higher priced cases, the organization is by stone. It's easy to see your favorites and easy to skip over your not-so-favorites. The rest of the store is a bit more of a free for all - all different size/shape stones, each individually held in white boxes. They have everything from gemstone witch's hat medallions to crystal spheres in all sizes to gemstone stretchy bracelets. If you can't find what you're looking for at Village Silversmith, it probably does not exist. This was by far the largest crystal/gemstone shop in all of Salem. read more

One of the few crystal shops in Downtown Salem. The variety here is vast. There are different shapes and types of crystals. Prices are pretty decent. I ended up getting a green goldstone bracelet. I know that it is a man made material, but it's so pretty. read more

A store filled with crystals! OOooooHHHhhhhh~ done. Plus they have jewelry- hence the silversmith. But I was in heaven looking at so many different stones! Some raw, some polished, some cut. They had towers, points, skulls, moons, heart shaped- you name it!!! I found an incredible Super 7 crystal that I grabbed plus a lazurite and apatite stones. Super 7- Super Seven, also known as Melody Stone or Sacred Stone, is an extremely rare mineral with seven crystals in one. The crystals are Amethyst, Cacoxenite, Goethite, Lepidocrocite, Rutile, Smoky Quartz, and Quartz. Properties include: Insight, growth, opportunities, enlightenment, expanded awareness, intuition, self-healing and so much more. It seriously packs a punch in the energy department. Lazurite- Lazurite is a sodium calcium aluminium silicate sulphur sulphate mineral found in contact metamorphic mineral in limestones. Lazurite is most often found as a massive, and is commonly combined with other minerals to form the rock Lapis Lazuli. Lazurite stimulates the third eye chakra, promoting intuitive abilities and psychic development. Lazurite is the perfect crystal for the spiritual traveller, moving onwards in the direction of a being of light. Lazurite expands awareness and enhances memory. Apatite- Apatite is a naturally occurring gemstone, largely unknown to the general public but prized by collectors for its many different colors and forms. Blue Apatite is a stone of manifestation attuned to the future, activating psychic abilities and allowing expansion of knowledge. Apatite will stimulate the intellect and brings ideas from the mind down into the earth realm through realizations. read more

How have I not visited here before!? This shop is filled from top to bottom with crystals. Nearly every type, shape and size of crystal. They have crystals from $3 to $$$ for every budget. They have some very unique larger pieces, and the store was packed with customers on a Saturday. They also have a large jewelry counter, with rings, bracelets, and necklaces. They are fully staffed and super helpful with anything you're looking for. Ambience: 5/5 Products: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Village Silversmith: 5/5 read more

PROS: This is one of the best fossil and gem stores I've ever been to. The staff is nice and very helpful, they have anything you want in a gem store, and they have an assortment of fossils. They have a megaladon tooth, fossilized sea life, foot prints, and plants as well. CONS: The whole place may be clean but it's unorganized. If you wanted a shark tooth, or a certain stone a variety of them is scattered all over the place. There are no sections labeled with what they have. Also, many of their items are overpriced OVERALL: 100% come in here because you'll like it, however, be willing to spend a lot and ask the staff where a certain item is read more

My daughter had been here on a class trip a couple of years prior, and she wanted to head back up to Salem and visit again. I can see why - they have a great selection of crystals and jewelry at very reasonable prices. I think she spent 45 minutes browsing before picking a bunch of different items for herself and for her friends. Everyone working in the store was great and helped my daughter make some fun choices. They have a very nice selection of reasonably priced silver jewelry, geodes, and fossils. It's a good place to stop if you're looking for these kinds of things. read more

My friends and I went to Salem to see some baby goats. My friend wandered into this store while I was in the bathroom. I recognized the name, and remembered I had bought a ring there I really liked last year, so I went to follow her in. The door guy stops me, and starts going on about how he can't allow me inside with my service dog unless he has a vest on, which is discrimination, and illegal. Service dogs aren't required to wear service dog vests in public. They can ask "is that a service dog?" And "what service do they provide?" I explain that to him, and he's going on and on about how "in his experience" it's a "bad idea" because the store is crowded.. (it wwsnt even that crowded) He goes on about how he's been doing this a "long time" and blah blah.. so I say "I've had him for 11 years, and in my experience, including in this store. He's fine.." (very calmly, mind you) He says "now I'm going to deny your business because you're being argumentative" yea.. about my rights as a disabled person.. I step out of the doorway. I'm not fighting him anymore.. and two seconds later, he lets my boyfriend in with his emotional support animal because he showed him paperwork. I would have shown him paperwork if he asked, even though they're not supposed to, but he started arguing with me right off the bat. Very unprofessional, and discriminatory. Also, the ring I bought there broke a week after getting it read more

I love Village Silversmith. Have to say it's been a while since I went shopping in downtown Portsmouth in person, but I'm looking forward to going back to look at all the beautiful jewelry and stones, talk to the knowledgeable staff, and pick out something special for spring. This weekend, I had one of those questions about an old gift certificate that I'm sure drives customer service people crazy, but they treated me like I was their best customer and took care of me even though they totally didn't have to. So in addition to have a wonderful store, they have accessible and knowledgeable staff who really care about their customers. read more

Best and widest selection of Rose Quartz penises on the east coast!! They also had thousands of other beautiful rocks and minerals and jewelry but they all pale in comparison to the assortment of rock peckers I rub it all over my face and forehead every night to absorb the negative energies of boyfriends past and fill me with the soothing energies that Rose Quartz fosters like empathy, reconciliation, and forgiveness of others. AMAZING PLACE IF YOU WANT AMAZING PRICED CRYSTALS!!! I paid $8 for the selenite heart! Which is typically over $10 any other place!! The labradorite... you'll never believe me but $34!!!!! What!!!????? They had pieces of other crystals that were bigger than the labradorite and they were cheaper!!!! The chalcedony was $14!!! They had pieces of chalcedony in different shapes that were more than that but this one I loved! Also got this beautiful amethyst for $60!!!! Only one issue was I got this beautiful carnelian piece but they forgot to pack it in our bag, but thankfully I checked the bag before we went on our plane and I called them and the manager apologized and found it and said they would email a picture of it just to make sure (it was the one!) and then asked for me to just reply with my address and so they're going to ship it to me! Hopefully I get it soon! I wish I could've gotten more stuff!!! read more

Great store with very friendly people working there. They helped with a birthday gift we weren't sure what to buy. Love this little shop!

Lots of interesting stuff. Just an FYI, if you're looking at the fossils, many of the cheaper ones have been stained/painted to highlight the fossil in the rock. They look cool and are reasonably priced, but most aren't high quality. They've got a lot of geodes and other stones and minerals and knicknacks. Not a bad tourist shop, nothing really local but interesting stuff. read more

Village Silversmith - I bought this beautiful smoky Quartz ring. I've not taken it off since I bought it. :) - Jewelry Near Me - Salem, Massachusetts

This place is great. I bought a moonstone ring here in September and I love it. I get compliments on it all the time and I've been dying to go back. I was in town with a few friends and we came in today to shop. We met the owner and he helped us try on rings and we chatted about the stones and fit, etc. He's the nicest guy and super passionate about what he does. It was a total pleasure shopping here. Today, it was incredibly packed with people. But he was so patient with us as we tried on a bunch of rings looking for the right fit. Both times I've shopped here the customer service was exemplary. Everyone is so kind and helpful. They have an amazing selection of jewelry and stones. I bought an awesome labradorite ring today and I'm so happy with it. I don't know how I missed this place the past few years when I have visited Salem in the past. Well glad to have walked in as this place has so many different stones/gems/jewelry to choose from. It's like being a kid in a candy store, so many damn pretty shiny things to look at.It' shard to not be amazed & even harder to choose. I can't imagine being in the store & only buying one thing. For real. There are shelves & shelves of different stones & it's not in any type of order which makes browsing a bit long & tedious. As someone who likes continuity & for similar things to be in order I was like oy vey. I am not sure if this just bugs me but it just made it harder to find what i was looking for but also waited to make sure I didn't miss out but looking at everything. So yeah give yourself a good amount of time to peruse the store. I ended up buying several things & after I left, then ate & did more walking around, I came back because there was one gemstone that was like calling to me so I went back & bought it. Yeah it's easy to spend lots of money because they have so many cool things. So be prepared & enjoy all the pretty things they have. read more
