This is one of the stores we visited while we were visiting the City of Salem. Anything you want to find related to Witchery, this is the place to be. They have so many gifts and souvenirs here. A very interesting store. Feels like you are surrounded by witchcraft and sorceries. The staffs here are friendly and answer any questions you may have of Witches and Witchery. They also have Witch Readings. Perhaps they can tell your future and maybe if your ancestries are Witches. That would be interesting to find out if you are a Witch. Lol. It was a cute store with lots of witchy goodies. My mom talked me into getting my first reading here because I was in Salem so why not. Got a 15 min reading for $50 and Yulia was my reader. She said she was a born psychic and asked me if there was anything I wanted to focus on so I said relationships and she had me pick 10 cards from the deck and maybe I should've done some research on what the cards mean but the reading was kind of all over the place and only about 2 things she said was accurately pertaining to my life. Didn't seem like it was worth the $50 in my opinion. read more

In the store they promised a refund but it's been 3 weeks and even after several calls, I haven't received it. They contacted the headquarters in Salem but still nothing was done. I was getting wonderful loving readings from Harriet here for a couple of years. I also had used some readers at the New Orleans location for 5 years before finding Harriet. Unfortunately she no longer was available, and I had a reading with Angel based off the reviews. To say it lacked compassion was an understatement. She looked at my cards and said wow, "good luck." It's going to be "pure dumpster fire." The bluntness and lack of hope crushed me, as my partner was very sick at the time. She even said out loud the death and tower cards were there which was not something I needed or wanted to know. It was so incredibly harsh and the way the information was delivered brought me to tears. I left the reading feeling hopeless and sad. My partner did end up passing away a few weeks later, and as predicted my life is pure dumpster fire. So, she was not wrong. But this was not an uplifting experience for me, and I've decided it's best I no longer use services from Hex. read more

I went to Salem spontaneously on our way back from Maine, mainly to get some...grass. However, we stopped by Salem specifically to browse around some witchy shops. HEX was a true shop for all things witchy whether your practice is voodoo, black magic, white magic, etc. This shop has it all. From egg shell powder to potions, there's something for everyone. This isn't a shop for people browsing through Salem wanting to mess around with spells. It is not touristy like most of the witchy shops in Salem. This is the real deal and I loved that. It was insanely busy inside and I felt claustrophobic so I didn't get anything while I was there (though I would have liked to). I will definitely come back to HEX again because this was as real as it gets when it comes to the metaphysical. read more

I was able to wander into HEX during a rainy day - seems like a story right? The shop itself is on the smaller side, but when I walked into the shop I could see somebody was having a private reading in the window. Unfortunately the day I went they were booked solid until 5 pm and I had somewhere else to be that evening. The store has a lot of inventory, from crystals, to potions, to jewelry and cloaks. Everything was well priced in the inventory and I was able to get some goodies, two pendulums and an evil eye bracelet. The girl working at the cashier said if the bracelet breaks - it means it did it's job of protecting you from something bad. This is a store that even if you do not buy anything, it is worth the the wander through. However, I think there is something for everybody in this mysterious little shop in Salem. read more

This place is located on the main strip which is Essex street. It's a small space with a lot of different goodies inside. It's very very busy and because of the small space and all the stuff around you it was hard to shop. The vibe is low key no one is breathing down your neck to buy anything and the psychic reading can be $5 off with your Salem witch museum ticket. I can't recommend anyone for the reading because we didn't get it done but it seemed pretty cool. read more

I got a reading by Tim and it was a huge disappointment. I went in totally open minded and if anything probably too inclined to believe what he was going to say, but he was so off that it was impossible to take anything he said seriously. - He said a maternal figure who passed around 2013 was in the room watching over me. Literally ZERO clue who that could be. I don't even know anyone who died around that time. - He said I have been feeling lost in life since 2017/2018. Actually, I was really lost UNTIL that time when I decided to go to grad school and finally found my purpose. So no, not lost. Very found. - He said I have an older mentor guiding me in my career right now and this person wants more from me. Most people who look under 35 probably have some sort of mentor so big deal. But I happen to be totally mentor-less. - He said that Connecticut is calling me. Um... actually I am thinking seriously about moving back to California because I have seasonal depression and I can't deal with the New England winters anymore. I even tried to help him out and asked if maybe he meant California given that it also starts with a 'C' but he got annoyed and was insistent it was Connecticut. - And lastly, he said my husband (who apparently works in the government, which is news to me) and I are going to get divorced because he is too controlling and when I realize he won't ever change, I leave him. Cool. Except my husband is actually really passive, if anything too passive, so not sure how that could play out. Overall the reading had a pretty negative tone. If what he said was at all accurate or possible, I would be bummed but I would still find it worth respecting. But if you're going to completely make stuff up anyway, why choose to say negative things? It's just mean. If I'm going to be wasting money to hear something totally fabricated, then at least give me fabricated positivity. I am giving two stars because the lady who ran the cash register was nice and they have a good book selection. read more

I visited over the long weekend (Saturday) from Rhode Island and had a reading with Timothy Reagan. He was amazing and I can't say enough about him. I'll start with the fact that I have had readings before in my life at other places and nobody I have dealt with has been as accurate as him. I was actually blown away that he was able to tell me in detail about the health issues I was experiencing and how a future surgery would go. (Visually you would not be able to see that there is anything wrong with me or guess anything along that lines) He also was able to answer my relationship question directly and with great depth. I liked his style, he is friendly and direct. I actually walked away from the reading saying "I wanna be your friend" LOL The shop itself is nicer than most of the shops I went to in Salem. I liked all of the things they sell there and the people behind the register were so nice/ welcoming. Will/ would come back again- and- recommend to others. In a town full of spooky witchcraft themed shops, Hex is one of its kind! You wont find lame angel and devil keychains in here like the oh so many cliche stores in Salem. They have a really interesting selection of potions, books, candles, and more! The first time I came in, Lori Bruno, the psychic stopped me randomly in the store and told me the name of the book I was reading that I left in New York! Then, she gave me a bag of wolf hair and a talisman that is meant for good luck in the forensic field which was the degree I was completing at the time! Creeped me out for sure considering I never even spoke to her before. So when I came back a second time, I had my tarot reading with her and she was really good! She's definitely perceptive and can read people very well. I kept my poker face and she still knew things very personal to my life. I picked up a few titles here by Dion Fortune and Judika Illes and in contrast to other occult shops on Essex Street, HEX definitely has a better book collection. I also saw things which are often hard-to-find in my neck of the woods, like dried Rose of Jericho and High John the Conqueror. As for reading, my friend went to see Leanne and she was very surprised how accurate Leanne was - she could guess her family situation, job, job situation and number of kids?! I have had readings in person with David and nick ..while different in style, both Def worth the wait. David is more detailed oriented and nick is more "hey this is how it is" - no sugar coating. I have also been to the newly renovated omen. It's now quite large and the additional room has also expanded the book selection. The tarot decks there are also vast and I have bought quite a few from omen in particular ... while I get my magical supplies elsewhere, I do enjoy going every time I'm in the area and am usually greeted warmly each time, the readers do remember their clients even though they are pretty busy. Overall I would give hex salem, hex nola and omen salem an A+ Update : Tim is also am amazing reader...I was blown away by his accuracy and await his predictions. Also, their supplies have been on a gradual climb which is nice. I felt before it was more touristy...some of it was great but it had a touristy edge to it. At this point, maybe bc of the great new management, it's become richer and very significant. Do make the choice to stop here even I'd you are seasoned in the practice of magic. read more

My mother and I got readings at the sister store Omen and had questions about candles. We were sent to Hex and had the best customer service experience. I wish I had the woman's name because she was so helpful and insightful. She took the time to go over items and answer our questions and even told us about some she had used and the results. I had a really great feeling about her and I'm usually not much of a people person. I want to go back and ask her about 10 more items just to hear her descriptions and insight! They have so many items - even if you're not a believer there's so much to browse and read about as you wander around.
