For a relatively small store they do manage to stock a very large assortment of merchandise. I am always amazed at what they can fit into a small space. They carry magic supplies, joke gifts, Halloween masks, books, crystals, herbs, jewelry, souvenirs, and more. The prices are very reasonable for the items that they have. The people running the store are always friendly and helpful. If you are ever in Salem you should definitely give this store a spin! read more

Magic Parlor - Fake replica knock off of product sold by Magic Parlor. Salem, Mass - Gift Shops Near Me - Salem, Massachusetts

I love everything about this store but the main reasons I keep coming back are the warm atmosphere and how welcoming the employees are. Magic Parlor is one of the places that mean the most to me in Salem because it's so much more than just a store. I've gone there when experiencing a depressive episode and I once ducked in for relief when my PTSD was triggered by something going on outside. This is not just a store for me.............it's my safe place. read more

This store has a lot of different stuff, something for everyone, kids and adults. Costume accessories, joke stuff, candles, Knick knacks galore and plenty of oddities. I found the (possible) shop owner very pleasant. We looked around for maybe 15 minutes made our purchase and went on our way without issue. I was amused at some of the unique items it's a fun place to look around. read more

PROS: There was a lot of merchandise for people who like that magic/goth industry. They also had amazing quality masks and the staff was very nice CONS: The place was unorganized in the sense that everything just looks to be packed in and overwhelming. Very hard on your eyes OVERALL: I would definitely walk in here and see what they have. Talk to the team there cause they're also very nice read more

My friend and I went in today just to look around then saw they gave psychic readings. Neither of us had a good experience the day before with a different reader and were skeptical but gave it a shot. Pixie (the reader) was absolutely amazing. Her energy was nothing but love and light and we wish her all the best. Definitely check this shop out if you have the time! read more

My daughter and fiancé visited the store on Monday 07/29. The had a great selection of t-shits and souvenirs. After I walked in, a lady followed behind me with her dog, that was on a leash. You can't see the door form the check out counter. At the check out counter was a guy with long hair who didn't look like he was having a good day. The other two female employees were engaged with customers, checking them out and answering their questions. The guy was not having it. When the lady with the dog asked if it was ok to bring her pet in. He replied "Well you're already in the store", pretty sarcastic toe. She replied, "if it's not ok, I'll take him." He repeated himself rather rudely, "the animal is already in the store." A few minutes later a woman and her family were going to pay for some t shirts. The man walked up to the register, when the guy (not having a good day) looked at the lady and said "no smoking!" I looked over at her, didn't see any smoke in the air but I did see her put something in her purse. My guess, she walked in with a vape and when the guy saw her and made that comment, she put it in the purse. No biggie, right? Wrong! The lady didn't say a word, as the man approached the counter, he snapped again "I said no smoking" then he said "you know what? Get out! Leave!" The man put the shirts on the counter and told the guy that was no way to speak to a paying customer. Giving them 4 stores for the all the cool stuff they had in this store and for the awesome ladies working that day. 0 stars for the guy being rude and disrespectful to customers. read more

Dude. I absolutely love this shop. So much weird stuff. Not just witchcraft, but also tons of other stuff, too. Masks, pranks, magic tricks, oddities. This. This is my favorite shop in salem. The staff is really helpful, too. Can't wait to go back. Their website doesn't nearly do them justice for all the weird stuff there. read more

I dashed into the Magic Parlor recently to keep a chatty niece and nephew occupied, since most of the cool museums in Salem were closed. As soon as they stepped inside and marveled at the gruesome Halloween masks, magic tricks, gag items, and other assorted oddities, their eyes bugged out like a Chihuahua's and they started squealing with glee. The front of the store features magic tricks, gag items (think candy that turns your mouth blue and fake cat vomit), a wall of wigs in every color imaginable, candy, and a section with enough rubber scars, body parts, and spirit gum to worm your way into any Trekkie's heart. In the back of the store, they have various decks of tarot cards for sale, crystals (like the kind Napoleon Dynamite puts in the time machine that doesn't work.. heh), voo doo dolls, and other future-telling implements. Twenty minutes later, we came out with a fake piece of dog poo, a miniature voo doo doll, Bubble Gum Pop Rocks, and two very satisfied rug rats. Score! Five stars for the Magic Parlor! read more

Magic Parlor - Store front - Gift Shops Near Me - Salem, Massachusetts

Masks, Halloween decor, horror movie decor, and costume accessories galore. Even has a large selection of Pagan books and altar items. This place is fun to wander in and I have yet to go in and not leave with some wonderful purchases. Stop in and spend some time browsing, it is uniquely Salem! read more

A Pagan shop with a large selection of tarot and Oracle cards. Lots to look at. Also sells some special FX makeup, and has small selection of stage magic stuff. The staff was fun to talk to. Like all places in Salem, masks are required and limited capacity. read more

This shop is an eclectic mix of joke shop and occult supply depot. Everything from statues, bags of herbs, candles, oils and more can be found. The shop is brimming with stuff to look at and sometimes a crowd, depending on when you visit. If you want to buy tickets for Spellbound tours, they sell those here as well. Visit while you can; the current owner Frank may be trying to sell after this year, so it may not be here later. read more

As soon as me and my fiancé walked into the store, the store associate was hyper vigilant of us and even continuously surveyed us with the camera. This was not an issue however, the problem was that she was very obvious about her mistrust in us. It made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable as she kept popping up behind us in close proximity to check on what we were doing. It was only when we noticed her that she would say "hi, do you need any help?" She would do this over and over again every few minutes even though we had only been in the store for a total of 10 or 11 minutes before leaving. We witnessed her do this to another customer as well and she scared him half out of his wits. Afterwhich he just up and left, she then came back to keep checking in on us. This resulted in my fiancé asking if there was a lot of theft, he asked if we had done something, and told her that if there was a problem that we would leave. She stated there was no problem and she apologized for breathing down our necks. Things were thought to be settled until we went to the cash register and the presumed owner/the cashier was very rude. He made a snide comment about how we took a long twenty minutes to look at his large herbs collection (said to us in sarcasm), which 1) is not true because we were not in that section more than 6 minutes and 2) spending time shopping is not a crime. I was looking for ground Barberry and items of similar properties. My fiancée and I ignored his gripe and then gave him our card, however we were under the minimum for card usage and didn't have cash. So we thanked him for his time and left. I don't recommend going here if this behavior is to be expected. I believe it's possible that he was racially profiling us, because we were well kept and nicely dressed and in our mid-twenties, so there doesn't seem to be any other reason they'd be after us. We're not sketchy. So please be careful when shopping there. read more

The Magic Parlor in Salem Ma has great prices for Crystal necklaces!!! Very pretty wrapped silver crystals for Necklace's, dainty not bulky and heavy silver. Comes with a black silk chord but you can easily put your crystals on any necklace. Great prices around 5 bucks includes chord! As opposed to 12.00 across the street and 24.00 at other places. Another tragic disappointment..while in Salem, Ma doing the tourist thing. my young son wanted to go into this place Sadly another place with no Wheelchair access. Fortunately one of the employees of this store was setting up a table outside the store. He did ask if he could help us. I asked him if they sold a particular item in their store. I was told by a friend that's were he got his. We were looking for a card game. The employee immediately dismissed us. and seemed like quit a jerk. Like we were annoying him. Sadly I found this type of attitude frequently amongst the merchants in Salem read more

Franks is one of the very few places in town that does not inflate prices to take advantage of tourist traffic. You can find all kinds of made in china junk for under a couple bucks as well as cheesy costume wigs, masks, makeup, gadgets, jokes, gags, bumper stickers, funny stuff and even some very nice jewelry and figurines, etc.. and alot of occultish stuff in back too... Staff are nice outgoing people... Oh, and the sexy red haired psychic is HOT too..... she had a nice big smile on her face after reading my mind... Store is a bit difficult to move through when it's crowded though. read more

Diamond in the rough!! What a great find. I honestly have never walked into a store and been greeted with such a friendly staff! If you don't love this place, you'd bettah check the 'tude or check ya pulse. Magic Parlor is one of those rare gems that just make you want to move to Salem. In the front you've got fake puke and cockroaches. In the back you've got occultic paraphernalia, and in the middle you got. . . stuff. . .lots of really cool stuff that I'm not entirely sure how to describe. . . .but you know what? I bet the totally chill awesome staff could! YES! Not only is this place completely chill and awesome, and schizo (in the BEST way), it's staffed by people who are totally friendly and engaging! YES! I CANNOT USE ENOUGH EXCLAMATION POINTS IN THIS REVIEW!!! SEE!!!!!! So if you're looking for a fun shopping experience in Salem, remove any and all sticks from your posterior (depositing them in a sanitary manner please) and head over to Magic parlor. You can thank me at the next elite event! read more

Yes there is a ton o tourist traps and kitsch in Salem. But the parlor is a combination of joke shop, toy store, hidden treasure, and standard Salem mish-mish. The thing that sets the parlor above the rest is the staff. When you have a question they really try to help you find the perfect item to fit your needs. They also have a nice collection of old brass skeleton keys. read more

I really like this guy!! He closes at 6 but let people continue to come in anyway (and let me stay for a while). We talked about Anton La Cry's Church of Satan, some of the items in the store, etcetera. The prices for most of the merchandise are pretty low which is always great. I plan on going back soon. read more

Great staff. Honest and helpful. Good products! Best magic store in Salem! We went there to look and we were treated with respect and were helped with whatever we needed with. read more

I noticed folks mostly wrote about the joke items in the store. This store is also wonderful for divination items along with items I need in my practice of hoodoo. I generally go out into nature and get my own items. I was very pleased to find the hard to get items here. The woman was also very honest when I questioned her about a particular product and it not having the ingredient I needed. Wonderful folks and store. read more

Rude place!!!! Just got accused of stealing stickers!! Made us take everything out of our purses and pockets and found nothing with no apology!!!! Never coming back here again.. Was embarrassed infront of other customers. Worst customer service!!! I hope your business does close down! Learn some manners and don't just accused customers. read more

Love this shop! Everyone is super friendly and educated on the products. I purchased a few tarot decks and boxes to keep them in, I'll be back :) read more

Oh man, I would have loved to be able to give this place 5 stars like seemingly everyone else... we walked in and got really disruptive and aggressive pushy vibes, turned around and left. It wasn't a busy day or a lot of people crowding the place so I am not sure what was happening today. read more

Rude staff and although there is a good selection you can check out their inventory and just order it from Amazon, at far better prices without the attitude. They also offer "readings" which is just another scam. There are better places deserving of your business. read more

Beware if you are allergic to dust. Omg sooo dusty I started choking up ,coughing , wheezing and generally having pretty significant respiratory distress. I needed my inhaler after using it. I was ok. I realized the clerk/? owner rather than asking if he could be of assistance was staring at me rudely. He then asked me If I was done and to get out. He said " People coughing all over the merchandise was bad for business." I couldn't believe it HIS dust and dirty objects are bad for business . Breathless in Salem I won't ever go back read more

From the wild, to the mild to the tacky this store has it. They have a nice collection of magic items and pagan related items. The store owners are always friendly and helpful when I have been there. If you are looking for fangs they have the best pairs there. read more

An absolutely amazing store with amazing staff. The new owner Rob is an amazing guy who just brightens up the place. So many cool things to see and buy with an amazing selection of fx makeup!!! Can't wait to go back! read more

This is a fun store. They have a wide variety of "magic trick" items in the front of the store and in the back of the store they have an array of informational pagan books and spellwork materials for the more serious wiccan practioner. The also carry some very interesting figurines (faeries, dragons, Egyptian art, etc.). I believe they do readings in the back room. The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly. Ask for a catalogue because it has far more items then they carry in the store. read more

This is a rather iconic store in Salem. It is also one of those old-fashioned independent stores that one used to see in urban centers, akin to the now defunct Jack's Joke Shop that was near the Boston theater district. That store played up the jokes. This one has so many different types of things in there, from Salem souvenirs to stage makeup, to masks, clothing, magic tricks (some pretty high level ones to beginner ones) to, yes, jokes. There is also usually someone there who gives readings with such devices as Tarot Cards. In Halloween season, there is almost always a line out the door. And during the Halloween season, there are professional makeup artists who will give you pretty much any special effects makeup you ask for (I am a professional film actor in the area and I have worked with them on those projects, so I can attest that they're used on the highest levels.) The staff is friendly and go out of their way to help you. If you're visiting Salem, make sure to stop in this shop and check it out. read more

Great place. Your typical great joke shop that is hard to find these days. Only complaint is that you will constantly have eyes watching you because the couple who own it are very paranoid when it comes to theft. I tend to see it more now with the younger crowd if they have to choose between them or me, still slightly annoying. read more

Good Good Good vibrations!! You know when you enter the Magic Parlor, you've come upon a rare find. The groovy couple that run this piece of coolness in Salem is to commended for their super personalities and helpful attitudes. I shop here for oils (Nag Champa of course) and several other things. Have bought a silver Yin and Yang pendant from the Parlor that I just love and they were so cool to make me the necklace to go with it. I'm sure this little Salem gem will be around for a very long time. Newcomers, go in and have some fun; you'll be very glad you did!! Peace to all;-) read more

I absolutely love this place. I have been going to this store since I was 5. Frank(owner) is he nicest guy , he really encompasses what Halloween used to, and should still be like in Salem. We love ya frank! -evil read more

I had fun at Magic Parlor. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because the owner is pretty gruff (with both a few customers and the staff) and the store is really crowded. Otherwise, it was fun to browse the large selection of goods they have for sale. I had Theresa read my cards, which was spot on (and she was super nice!), and I had a henna tattoo painted up my arm (only took about 5 mintues) that turned out beautifully! I was in the shop for probably an hour total, because, overall, it was a great place to hang out. read more
