Came in primarily because we were traveling with our small dog, and as a tradition, we always attempt to find a treat store just for her, each day of our travels. We were a bit confused as the store was first called Coons Card and Gift Shop and the city of Salam's website promoted them for being pet friendly due to the store having a "Penelope's Pet Boutique" located inside. The store is now called "Moons Gift Shop" and "Penelope's Pet Boutique" was reportedly permanently closed according to the internet as of our visit. We still went to see since we were already in the area. The store was quite busy, with a long line to the register and not much space to move around. With mixed-use space businesses, my husband will wait outside with our small dog while I obtain permission from a store member that it's alright for our small dog to come in to shop with us. I was able to spot a back corner of dedicated pet products, with signs to "Please Ask for Assistance." So I stood in line and waited. It took longer than usual, which prompted my husband to end up coming in the store with our small dog to see if I was alright. I let him know I was still waiting to ask, and he went back to standing outside with our dog until we got the "ok." As he was walking out, one of the staff members behind the counter remarked loudly, "I'm tired of people walking their dogs in here." She then made direct eye contact with me. Message received! I walked out, and we ended up shopping at another pet friendly establishment in Salem that warmly welcomed us. Moons Cards and Gifts has a lot of lovely Salem souvenirs, t-shirts, gifts, etc. but if you're attempting to visit to shop with your pet for pet related treats/gifts, despite them having a pet section, I would not recommend visiting due to unwelcoming staff. read more

I absolutely loved this shop. they had your typical Salem,Ma tourism stuff but they also had some very specific metaphysical items as well. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. they were blasting witch approved music (so Fleetwood Mac) and all of the customers were twirling Stevie Nicks style. Out of all the gift shops that we visited, and there were quite a few, this one is where I left the most money and purchased gifts for almost everyone in my circle. They have a huge variety and decent prices. Some of the items are the same price as other gift shops and Some of the items are a dollar or two cheaper. They have a good balance between the witchy negative side of Salem and the lights, fun tourist aspect of Salem. The people working there were talking amongst themselves through the store and I didn't pick up anything negative. I actually joined in a few conversations and, no one was rude. read more

Coon's Cards and Gift Shop is a great souvenir shop for tourists looking for Salem trinkets. From sweatshirts to magnets and everything in between, it's priced reasonably and actually has some fun extras inside. I've been to Salem before but during Halloween so I never went shopping while visiting. My mom collects magnets from other people's trips and I collect magnets from my own travels so I bought two different types (less that $4 each). I also purchased two masks that were on sale as well as a Salem, Mass sweatshirt with a witch on a broom ($29) The layout is easy to navigate and it was pretty well organized. Transaction was quick and the cashier took extra time out to show me which patches they sell (as I also collect patches from my travels). Overall, this was a good souvenir shop with reasonable prices. read more

I bought a few magnets here but wish i didnt - i was with some friends and we all went to look at items. 2 of my friends had bookbags and did not see the sign at the entrance, there was a lady (i think the owner) who yelled at them to take their bags off and then she cursed at one of them. I noticed other tourists had on bags and were not yelled at. Anyway some of the stuff in here is overpriced, walk down the strip a little more and you'll find nicer shops that are more organized and friendly. read more

While shopping I heard an older woman who works at the store refer to a male dog wearing pink as a "f-slur", and that putting him in pink is going to turn him into a "f-slur". When I turned around a said using homophobic slurs is not cool as my wife and I are about to spend 100 dollars at your establishment she argued with me. She claimed that "f-slur" means cigarettes in England. I replied that using slurs is just not cool with me. She continued to say that people shouldn't be upset by words and that she is allowed to say whatever she wants. I agreed that freedom of speech is in fact a thing, but to understand that certain words are upsetting, and it's okay if people are upset by words. She continued that freedom of speech is important. We decided to not spend money in a store that is okay with their employees using homophobic slurs. read more

This is a great place to walk into while visiting Salem to get your souvenirs. Shirts, sage, black magic candles, shot glasses, post cards, magnets, cards, tchotchkes, anything you could possibly want, they have. I visited during COVID and the store is roped off in a way that you go through it one way. They also have someone at the door who monitors how many people are in the store and lets you know if you can enter, or not. read more

In an area full of gift and souvenir shops one after the other this store stuck out. What made them different from the others is their selection of tee shirts was by far the best! They carried all sizes, colors, and had some cool logos and sayings that weren't seen elsewhere. I especially liked their children's section. In addition they carried your normal touristy items; keyrings, shot glasses, etc that you would normally find in a gift shop. In the back was a pet boutique featuring everything you would need for your furry friend to venture out in style. The owner is prominently featured in their advertising on the wall as the "original" witch and some of their tee shirt designs are trademarked as explained to us by the clerk on duty. The only negative I found was the tee shirt prices were more than the other shops but than again some were original designs not found elsewhere. So if you're in Salem, looking for a shirt to represent your trip - make Coon's your first stop. read more

Coon's is an odd little gift shop, but I am so happy I stopped in. Earlier during the day in Boston I spotted a t-shirt I loved on a cart. We were on a walking tour so I couldn't stop to grab it. When we returned a few hours later the cart was gone. That night we went to Salem and Coon's was the only gift shop open. To my surprise immediately when we stepped in the adorable shirt I wanted was right at the entrance! They had a fantastic shirt style selection and I ended up buying two. I would have been tempted to buy more if they had more in my size (I wanted an adult small or medium and the styles I liked only were available that day in youth sizes or adult L or XL). They had cards, magnets, stickers, and many other odds and ends you would find in a gift shop. What made them unique was their variety of crystals and other things of that sort. The staff was really helpful and friendly. I would return again to their shop! read more

This shop is one of many souvenir shops along Essex street. However, Coon's has an incredibly fun vibe, friendly employees and eclectic selection of products. The ramp leading into the shop is lined with dozens of different Salem shirts. Coon's also carries "Georgia Made This" products, lovely crystals, Ravenstone jewelry as well as beautifully wire wrapped crystal pendants. The most fun selection of mugs, coasters etc.. a darling pet section and a seriously impressive wall of tarot and oracle cards. They also carry various historic Salem house paintings/statues.. and so much more! Coon's was originally established in 1953 as a jewelry store by Arthur Coon. I love this store, i just went in today, they have a nice assortment of clothes and trinkets, i got a nice hoodie that says Boston on it with a Clover in a Green font , i really like it, definitely one of my new favorites, only 2 issues. Number 1, most of the shirts here are very reasonably priced, going anywhere from $8-$15, but what i don't understand is how the hoodies suddenly bounce to $37. maybe there was a sale going on or something but idk. Number 2, the name is really off putting, i walked into here with my brother and said the name on accident and was like freaked out, i didn't really want to stay there for long. but besides those issues i really recommend it! read more

Staff were all wearing masks. Hand sanitizer stations were provided and markers on the ground to mark 6ft social distance. This shop has a great selection of souvenirs and I was able to find things easily. The staff member who rang up my purchase was extremely sweet, and joyful. My three granddaughters and I visited this unique gift shop on our visit to Salem in June. We actually spent over an hour shopping in this store there was so many interesting things to look at. We purchased a few things that we could fit in our suitcases because we are from California and we only brought carry-on luggage. So when we got home I got on their website and ordered some beautiful statues for my granddaughters. unfortunately one of them came broke because of the Postal Service. Without a second thought the owner of the store refunded me my money when I let her know that the statue arrived broken. Not only does this store have so many amazing things to buy but you can feel good if something goes wrong that the owner is going to take care of you. I guarantee you I will be ordering more things on the Internet from Coon's and my first stop when I go back to Salem will be this unique little shop. you can see by my yelp reviews I do not recommend very many places but I do recommend this shop so have fun everyone if you stop at Coon's there's so much to look at. read more

Did not love the name but I am open minded, maybe a family name or something. But, this is not the reason for the one star review, would give zero if I could. Was in this store yesterday and was rudely told to move out of an isle while looking at merchandise that was placed in the isle. My family heard the rude comment and asked what happened. When I was telling them what happened a second employee said exactly "we have been working long hours this weekend which is worse than Halloween weekend and we just don't care". I did nothing to deserve this rudeness, was only there to shop. What made it even worse is I left the shop and my family stayed behind. The second employee continued to make rude comments loudly about the situation for all to hear. Because of that, my family put the items they were planning to purchase back and walked out. Great place to go for all sorts of Witchy trinkets! Great prices, too! They have a wide selection of shirts, pants, sweatshirts and hats available, as well as all sorts of souvenirs. They had postcards 4 for $1, which was great because I was able to send them all out to family for cheap. this place actually rules. you walk in thinking it's a standard card shop (much like a hallmark or something of the like), but what you don't know is that they have many racy items. there are all these little hidden dirty gems all over the place. i don't think i even want to ruin it for you and tell you about all the sass. just go and find out for yourself. it'll be like a naughty scavenger hunt. it's a great store, though, and they have a wide selection of cards. i think they're all 50% off. they have a ton of touristy souvenirs like shot glasses, pens, shirts, etc. they have personalized items, like those pens and key chains that have names on them, but i'll never find one that has my name. they have rachel and racheal (not rachael but racheal. p.s. who spells it with "eal" ever?) but never rachelle. i pronounce it like rachel, but the name rachelle (pronounced ra-shell) exists, so why can't i ever catch a break?! all i ever wanted was a rachelle license plate for my bike! damn! they have this hilarious set of "salem, ma" cards. like, they'll say something like, "there's only one thing missing from SALEM, MA... you. i miss you." and the SALEM, MA part is in a totally different font. it's obvious that they're these stock cards and whenever a tourist town orders them, they just print the name in the space regardless of font. the cards were funny anyway (and i gave a bad example) but to have the generic SALEM, MA font was such an added bonus. they have some toys and picture frames and albums and all that stuff. such a great little store. i'd say it's not just for tourists, but is great if you're not from the area. read more
