They have cool stuff including cute clothes/bags/hats w/ fun prints, greeting cards that make you laugh,& even books! The vibe is full of Halloween fun! The staff are super nice & they act like they actually want to be there, which makes the experience even better. I ended up leaving w/ way more than I planned but honestly it's impossible not to. The prices weren't too bad which made it even harder not to buy something. If you're a fan of all things cute and Halloween-y this place is def the place for you! read more

I go to Salem annually and this is the first time I stumble upon this cute little shop downtown. It's full of fun, quirky gifts, candles, décor, and other artsy little things you don't really see in the typical tourist stores. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's fun to wander through: it's perfect if you want a unique gift or a cool souvenir. I would have went on a shopping spree, but many things were a bit pricy. read more

Pretty standard fare for a gift shop- I've seen a lot of the same products in plenty of gifts shops across many towns. I love the snarky towels and oven mitts- I've bought several in the past. They had some cutie baby items and I am a soon to be grandmom! But nothing screamed at me to buy it. So- just a quick pop in and pop out. read more

I discovered one of my most beloved scents (Ginger June Candles) at Roost & Company! My family and I came here a little while ago and they have so many cool Knick knacks ranging from candles, cards, notebooks, toys, books, jewelry, clothing and accessories. It's gorgeously decorated and their items are displayed and arranged nicely. I can't wait to come back here so I can discover and fall in love with more of their items. Whoever is the buyer for this store- my son and I adore you and your style! We will be ba read more

This is a top-notch spot for gifts. You'll see cool artsy items and A LOT of house plants to choose from here. Good quality items for a fair price. The smell is amazing right when you walk in. It smelled like eucalyptus or something similar, either way it was nice. There's a variety of items to choose from and the entire store is well organized. The staff members are nice and quick to serve. read more

This shop is so cute and has friendly staff. However they advised a $7 mystery ball and I bought it thinking I was going to get something cute and like the other products. YET THEY SCAMMED ME seven dollars for paper fortunes, purse candy, and dollar store crap?!? Like hello?!? What happened I fell so heartbroken because everyone and everything was so nice and cute!!! read more

There are so many random things in this store that you never knew you needed or wanted. I mean go damn figure there is pumpkin flavored/shaped soap that apparently was calling my name. Some things are great as gifts vs. things you want to hold on to, but there is something for everyone. Not really cheap items but I guess it goes w/ the territory in a tourist area. So if you walk around this store you're bound to buy something you may or may not need but still fun to have. So might as well as support local business for them & the community. read more

This is probably my favorite store in Salem. They have a little bit of everything for everyone and are perfect for gift shopping. Some of my favorite products are their cools socks, bubble bath, and shower bursts which are like bath bombs for your shower and let out a nice burst of scent when they're wet (they also have one the clears your sinuses and it's awesome). They also have a great selection of cards, including gay wedding cards (which are really hard to find offline!). The owner is super nice and personable, she always remembers my name, and when I was in the process of planning my wedding she would frequently ask how everything was going. :) read more

My favorite non-witchy boutique in all of Salem. I can't pop up to the North Shore without stopping and usually end up spending at least $50.00 (and may I add, very happily!) They have something for everyone: cards, housewares, jewelry, books, candles, baby items, bath products, anything you could want, really. And to top it all off, they sell gift wrap, too. I've found wonderful gifts here -- for others and sometimes for myself. Whoever does their buying has a discerning eye. There are several unique items/products there that I just haven't seen anywhere else. It makes me happy to buy local! read more

Roost is my very favorite shop in all of Salem. Everyone that works there is super friendly, and they always give my dog a cookie (or two). They stock such a great selection of cards, gifts, jewelry, housewares, and baby "stuff" that I literally always buy something when I go in. They have a card log so after 10 cards the next one is free. They also run a promotion during the holidays that you get a store credit equal to 10% of your total December spend to use in January. My fiancé and I had a $45 credit this year (we actually forgot to use it now that I think of it..........crap!) but I just love that they do things like this. It makes it so easy to shop local!! I basically have nothing negative to say except can they please just let me have every candle for my house?! Definitely stop in if you find yourself nearby! read more

Salem is becoming quite a little shopping destination. I've heard that there are a bunch of lovely little stores ready to open on Washington Street, and recently this little gem of a store has opened on front street. the roost specializes in quirky little home items, be it a hand made measuring cup, a beer bottle opener shaped like a rather toothy whale, or a movable, twistable calendar or two for your favorite urban planner or hipster. there are also a number of baby dishes for your friends who just had a little one, and a cute selection of jewelry, that, trust me, she does not have, and will coo over for at least 60 seconds... you're so thoughtful. the lady working on the store, perhaps the owner, was lovely upon speaking to her briefly last week, and i can only hope that this little shop thrives. read more

How have I not reviewed this gem?! I adore Roost. This is my favorite place to treat myself to something nice for my home. This weekend I purchased the nicest smelling candle in the Library collection along with the cutest long matches in a box with the conestellations on them. This store is all about frill and amusement. Some would say that nothing in there is necessary. However, if you like to cozy up your nest or find the perfect hostess gift, this is the place. I love that their selection is constantly changing. This is the place where I will get most of my Christmas gifts for friends! p.s. they are dog friendly to well behaved dogs/ owners. (A huge plus when you are out walking the pup and want to stop in for a quick browse!) read more

Love this store!! I try to visit as much as possible because they are always getting new things. I follow them on facebook, which I highly recommend because they are always posting new pictures of merchandise that make you want to go and purchase right away. The staff is so friendly and welcoming! They have great selection of cards, so now I don't have to buy generic CVS cards for peoples birthdays! So happy to have this store in town. read more

Super cute store. It reminds me a lot of Paper Source in Brookline. Some stationary, some whimsey, some random. I'm guessing this place is a one off/locally owned. Definitely a great place to grab a gift. read more

What a fun place to knock around. "Urban country design." I'm not sure exactly what that is, but Roost seems to nail it. So much of their stuff would appear at home in both a contemporary or traditional home. This is where the locals shop. Need a bottle opener? I have one on my deck that I got here. You can even get one made from recycled bike chains. Need a onesie for your baby? I have one of those from here too. Glassware? Check! My last trip in I got a small plates cookbook, a microwavable body warmer, a baby bib, and a scented candle. Want furniture? Nothing cookie cutter here. Better check back frequently to see what they've just reclaimed/restored. read more

This store is amazing. I love it. It's just, you have to go here. They had Bob Ross "Happy Cloud" socks in the window that caught our eye & it got more amazing the more you got into the store. Amazingly cool cards, kitchen items, gifts, from dinosaurs to baby shower presents and inappropriate dish towels you'd love it. Go here! read more

The shop is beautiful and bright and every single product I saw was wonderful. The sales girl was very happy and friendly. We bought 3 pet tags for our cats' collars that read "Spoiled Brat". They have been wearing them for almost 5 months now and they are still in perfect condition (which is amazing since they are all rowdy and 20lbs). Definitely will stop by next time we are in Salem! read more

One of the greatest things about living in Salem is being able to walk to fabulous finds like Roost! This shop is a true delight! They have great soaps, candles, cards and amazing jewelry! One of the nicest traits of the this store is their products come from America and most of the them are locally made! Adorable shop with a very nice owner! I came in looking for an apron... specifically a cupcake apron... I may or may not have a major cupcake obsession :) I cam in and simply asked for an apron. She went in the back and said she only had one. Then she pulled out this gorgeous cupcake apron. It was beautiful. She said it was on-sale for $28 from $36... those kinds of aprons are generally very expensive. I told her I could not afford that. So she bargained with me and ended up selling it to me for $20. My boyfriend was hysterically laughing in the background as soon as I brought out my NY bargaining skills. All for a cupcake apron. Fun little store though! Good memories! read more

I absolutely adore this store. It's the perfect little place to pick up something special for yourself, your home, or a gift. I usually pop in at least once a week to browse & blow a few bucks spoiling myself. Full of quirky & adorable items, you are guaranteed to find something you simply must have. I love the line of Library collection candles & I always seem to find a bag I can't live without. The owner is usually on site & is really friendly, staff is always helpful & not at all hovery. The Beehive next door is stocked with a wide array of cards & finishing touches-this establishment is a must if you're shopping Salem. read more

i'm so into this store! it's the type of place where, every time you walk past, you point at something in the window and say, "aww, i want that!" in a girly voice (even the guys). with handmade soaps that don't smell like grandmas, neato and classy household items, greeting cards (including some AWESOME thank you cards made with a letterpress), and more, this is a rad place to go if you need to pick up something for a housewarming party or a cool person's birthday. there's a clearance section, but i think the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the products that aren't on sale. i know from speaking with one of the sales associates (actually, he was from the beehive but i know the two stores are owned by the same people) that a lot of the stuff is made by indie, local artist-types. for instance, the coffee mint soap was made by a lady, not a factory. it smells AMAZING. i would have picked up a bar ($8.50) but i just bought a beast load of body wash elsewhere. also, the cool guy that worked there that i was talking to mentioned that the owners will take stuff and repurpose it. like, if they find a cool, not shitty piece of furniture on the side of the road, they'll grab it and clean it/class it up and call it new again. i THINK he said they sell some of that stuff but i may be wrong, since that's happened before. go in and ask! i want to go back because they had this cool vase. it was essentially two-sided; if you have it turned one way, it will hold a bouquet, but if you flip it around, it will hold just a flower or two. whenever i have flowers, i usually end up putting them in a huge beer glass or something, like the classy bird i've grown to be. roost takes salem's qool quotient and boosts it up a couple (couple = roughly 1.5 million) points higher. like, this is the type of store that makes all the boston-area hipsters realize that the suburbs aren't so bad after all. it feels like etsy, but with a storefront. LOVE! read more

We just got the cutest table from Roost. It was in decent shape, and at a reasonable price. We can't wait to put it to use! The woman working there (I assume that was Kate) was very friendly and helpful - taking measurements and helping me figure out where in the house I would put it. I'll totally stop by again when I return to Salem. read more

This store is sooooo fun! So many great and different products! The store smells good, the employees were very nice. Long life!

When the shop owner takes the time to help a customer pick out a small household object, that's just golden. It's wonderful to find objects we use every day, but here they're both fabulous and functional. And, the effort from Kate makes Roost all the more special. read more

I'm so sad that it took me a couple years living in the North Shore to discover this hidden gem! Roost & Co. Is a warm little eclectic shop of eye-catching curiosities that has something for everyone, kids included! From Christmas ornaments, to books, to socks, to bath & beauty, to jewelry, to cards, they have got you covered. The goods are displayed throughout the store awesomely and I guarantee you will find something you can't live without. They are perfect if you're looking for a gift that will surely be a conversation piece, and you're not looking to spend a fortune. For me, I love sending cards out regularly to family and friends. The selection at Roost & Co. Is large and covers a wide range from thoughtful to funny and everything in between. To top that, they have a card buying reward program and after the purchase of 12 you get a free one--my kryptonite. Great place to stumble upon interesting things and get distracted. The staff are friendly and always working hard to arrange that next great display! read more

Good store for unique gifts, cards, novelty items and home decor.

Love this shop. It has the best selection of cards and unusual doodads that you don't usually see whether else.

Perfect spot for gifts and cards. Need a gift for a birthday, bridal shower, housewarming, anniversary, baby shower, wedding, or just because? Come here. They have candles, quirky but practical things like tea infusers and camping utensil sets, novelty socks, jewelry, bath/body items, cookbooks and books about gardening, and more. Their greeting cards are very sweet and unique, and comparably priced to the Hallmark stuff you'd get at CVS. I love this store! read more
