We visited Pat's for dinner on a Wednesday night. There was convenient parking behind the diner. The diner has a good amount of seating but it was very quiet during our visit so all of the guests were in the front area. Service was pretty basic. I don't know that it was bad but it certainly wasn't extraordinary. My Mom and Aunt both got salads. I got a hot dog plate and a side salad. My Aunt enjoyed her large house salad. My Mom really didn't like her Greek salad. I ended up eating most of it. They were VERY generous with the feta. Maybe too generous. I thought it was fine. I enjoyed my side salad. The hot dog was interesting. As described on the menu, it is two hot dogs, cut in half lengthwise, then griddled, then put on a hoagie roll. It was unusual. Not bad, just different. The hoagie roll was a bit chewier than a standard hot dog bun. The sauerkraut was good. I had asked for mustard too and they brough it on the side. Overall, an OK experience. I don't know that we'll be back if we are in the area again. read more

Pat's Dinner used to be my favorite place, but after it changed to new owners, everything went downhill. The food comes out with hairs in it, and now they charge for everything. Consistent, excellent food and service, in an impeccable establishment. No luxury, but very well appointed, with pretty live plants in the skylight room- my favorite! Several return visits since the last review have warmed me up again on Pat's Diner on Broad Strret, Trenton, NJ. I have stuck with my favorite breakfast, the Greek Omelet, and been perfectly satisfied. Three egger, loaded with home fried potatoes, Italian Sweet Sausage, onion, pepper, tomato. When straight from the hot steel, it is a wet, delicious mess, that puts a smile on my face every time. Rye toast and unlimited Bunn coffee makes me a very ahoy guy. Tina was my accommodating server a few days ago. I remembered her from prior visits. She was attentive and willing to interact when asked questions about her job and the Pat's scene. The joint is showing its age, but as an example of the old railroad car stainless diner, it remains a champ. Going back to 4 Stars for its consistency over the past few years. read more

We drove a few more minutes because of the reviews and it was completely worth it. Best diner of the trip. Service was fabulous but the food was excellent! Quality, Taste, and Huge amounts. We started with the crab and mushroom app, chicken empanada, and veg soup. 4 words, "melt in your mouth." Next the entrees were just as flavorful. Friendly clean diner. It's a diner. Like a train car diner. Its cute. Staff is accommodating and coffee was fresh and hot. Food was lukewarm and not hot. Our group ate the following meals. 2 eggs over hard. Bacon Hash browns and pancakes Hamburger with fries coleslaw and pickles Chicken pot pie which came with a side and pudding jello or ice cream. Waitress name was Denise, she was so friendly and attentive, I ordered T bone steak mid well it was on point flavor and all potatoes were soft the coffee don't know what brand , but it was delicious. My husband had the deluxe steak sandwich, he said it was less meat on steak mostly bread. But my food was on point. Lol read more

I had pancakes with bacon and my gf had a ham, egg and cheese on an English muffin. The food was good but it's not like you can really mess up the order. Recently, I rounded out Mercer County by going to my last diner (as of now) in the County. Even though it's one of the smaller counties, it is the first county I've completed. I arrived on a Sunday around brunch time and it wasn't overly crowded. I was hungry and happy to quickly get a table. Atmosphere: The diner looks like a locals favorite. It's fairly big with plenty of booths, tables, and a full length bar. The booths are cramped and I felt like I was sharing my meal with everyone. Coffee: The coffee took a while to get to us but once it did; it was one of the better coffees I've had. Food: Pat's Original Diner has many different options from breakfast, to lunch, and dinner. They don't have a lot of healthy options so if you're looking for that, this might not be your stop. I have been twice now and the second time I decided to order the French toast and Taylor ham. The French toast had cinnamon baked in which I definitely appreciated. It was light and fluffy. The scrambled eggs and Taylor ham were both good. My sister and I were looking for a local joint for breakfast one weekend. We settled on Pat's Original Diner, and I was looking forward to the meal given the number of people sitting in the restaurant and on a rainy Sunday morning. The hostess was also quite welcoming as she ushered us in from the storm. The food also was solid. I ended up getting their pancakes with a side of bacon. The pancakes were fluffy and more than enough food for 1 person; my sister ended up finishing the last one for me because I was stuffed! The side of bacon was also quite hefty, but I'll never complain about too much bacon! Unfortunately, it seemed like our sever was having an off day. My sister ended up ordering one of the specials that comes with eggs, a side of meat, toast, and a beverage of your choosing. She ended up not bring my sister's bacon (which, to give her the benefit of the doubt, might have gotten missed somehow when my sister was giving her order), and when it was brought to her attention, she was somewhat snippy about it. One mistake is fine, but then when you also forget to bring the ordered tea, it seems like maybe the server's mind is elsewhere. There's nothing fancy going on here, but if you're feeling the need for along the lines of eggs, pork roll and home fries, then you're in the right spot. It is rare for me to visit a diner, and even rarer for me to say that I'm a fan. But I will acquiesce to Pat's. This spot has been in operation in this same location for at least 70 years. Truly an achievement in this day and age. I have probably only dined here 3 times,today being the most recent. Each time I left satisfied and bewildered as to how the prices can be so low. Today for example, a 3 course lunch was $8 and change, non alcoholic beverage included. Portion size was large, so much so that my senior dining companion took half of his home. We both had different fish dishes, and both were easily worth the cost. It is easy to see how this restaurant makes and keeps loyal customers. My next visit here will probably be for a breakfast, and I am sure that after the meal I will still be a fan. read more

If you're looking for a large updated diner with bright lights, no atmosphere, and no personality, then you wouldn't consider coming here. If you want an old fashioned, worn out looking diner, with charm and character, warm friendly service, then you want to come here. I loved the counter seating, booths, and the atrium area. Personality! My co-worker and I were in the area for work and we happened to stop in during lunch hour on a Tuesday. Nice crowd already there and it seemed they all new the wait staff. My co-worker and I both ordered the Lumber Jack breakfast. The breakfast consisted of 2 large thick slices of French toast, 2 eggs, and 2 links of bacon or sausge. Not your typical French toast and I would consider it a step up. Service was warm and friendly. Prices were very reasonable, and there was on street parking as well as a parking lot in the rear. And don't be scared by all that because it's clean and friendly with a clientele that seems to warmly know each other. A neighborhood diner, open 24/7, like all diners were back in the day, as if it were mandatory for shift workers and after-party drunks. Tonight was a cold and stormy night...a nor'easter storm named Quinn that dumped what looks to be about a foot of wet and heavy snow...and Pat's is the only place stubborn and reliable enough to be open for the tired and hungry. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Came here looking for a quick meal while in the area, and the Yelp reviews came in high, and they were open for dinner. As we drove up, I'm now having second thoughts, it's old, definitely needs a face lift. I knew we should have went to Yardley, PA., BUT, we are here now, and I'm all for divey establishments. Only one half of the diner was in swing, but it was full of patrons. The dining area was definitely older, but clean, so no complaints there. Seated immediately, our waitress was very nice, and knowledgeable of the menu. Food came out quickly, we ordered four different items. Each made very well. Stand out dish was the crab cake, I expected a frozen pre-made Sysco crab cake, I was really impressed with what I got. A fresh cake loaded with crab, and a small amount of filler. Freshly made, and perfectly fried on the flattop. It's a good size too, much bigger and thicker than a burger. I didn't take a picture, shame on me! I also had a Greek salad, fresh with lots of feta, and a different twist on the anchovy, they incorporated it (it was all ground up) into the dressing. Everyone else enjoyed their food, as it was fresh cooked (as a diner should be), the gravy was meh, but that wasn't a deal breaker. Good service and good people! read more

In a land before time :) This is how it must have been all around Trenton back in the days when the 'Burg still was the restaurant district. I call this a blue collar type, original dinner and really liked it. The food is what I expect from a dinner, good size portions, home style cooking; real comfort food. I probably digested enough grease and calories for a week but that's what it's all about when going to a dinner. The place was full on this beautiful Saturday Morning. A mixed crowed of black, white & a surprising latino portion. The same people that you find at lunch and dinner in the many Guatemalan/ Ecuadorian eateries apparently also come here for breakfast.
