Several return visits since the last review have warmed me up again on Pat's Diner on Broad Strret, Trenton, NJ. I have stuck with my favorite breakfast, the Greek Omelet, and been perfectly satisfied. Three egger, loaded with home fried potatoes, Italian Sweet Sausage, onion, pepper, tomato. When straight from the hot steel, it is a wet, delicious mess, that puts a smile on my face every time. Rye toast and unlimited Bunn coffee makes me a very ahoy guy. Tina was my accommodating server a few days ago. I remembered her from prior visits. She was attentive and willing to interact when asked questions about her job and the Pat's scene. The joint is showing its age, but as an example of the old railroad car stainless diner, it remains a champ. Going back to 4 Stars for its consistency over the past few years.

We drove a few more minutes because of the reviews and it was completely worth it. Best diner of the trip. Service was fabulous but the food was excellent! Quality, Taste, and Huge amounts. We started with the crab and mushroom app, chicken empanada, and veg soup. 4 words, "melt in your mouth." Next the entrees were just as flavorful. The turkey burger was flavorful, moist, and Not gamey. Most excellent. The turkey platter was wonderful as was everything else. When we find our way back North, this is the stop!!

2 eggs over hard bacon hash browns and pancakes. Pancakes very good. Portion plentiful.

Friendly clean diner. It's a diner. Like a train car diner. Its cute. Staff is accommodating and coffee was fresh and hot. Food was lukewarm and not hot. Our group ate the following meals. 2 eggs over hard. Bacon Hash browns and pancakes Hamburger with fries coleslaw and pickles Chicken pot pie which came with a side and pudding jello or ice cream. Got the rice pudding to go. It was fresh and very good. Pancakes were very good. Hash browns good. Meal Could have been hotter. Hamburger was good and price is very good it is a great value. Chicken pot pie was ok. It was meh. Rice pudding fresh and good. Would return and try other meals. Good amount of menu options.

Waitress name was Denise, she was so friendly and attentive, I ordered T bone steak mid well it was on point flavor and all potatoes were soft the coffee don't know what brand , but it was delicious. My husband had the deluxe steak sandwich, he said it was less meat on steak mostly bread. But my food was on point. Lol

Visiting family and we got there super early so we decided to stop here for a quick breakfast. Essentially we ordered breakfast meals. I had pancakes with bacon and my gf had a ham, egg and cheese on an English muffin. The food was good but it's not like you can really mess up the order. I was not happy with the bacon it was a bit over cooked. I am not a fan of the overly crispy bacon.

Humongous Reuben and French Fries. Side of coleslaw and Russian Dressing with pickle.

I love Pat's. A long-time true diner in Trenton. Huge portions for the price. Extensive menu.

Recently, I rounded out Mercer County by going to my last diner (as of now) in the County. Even though it's one of the smaller counties, it is the first county I've completed. I arrived on a Sunday around brunch time and it wasn't overly crowded. I was hungry and happy to quickly get a table. Atmosphere: The diner looks like a locals favorite. It's fairly big with plenty of booths, tables, and a full length bar. The booths are cramped and I felt like I was sharing my meal with everyone. Coffee: The coffee took a while to get to us but once it did; it was one of the better coffees I've had. Food: Pat's Original Diner has many different options from breakfast, to lunch, and dinner. They don't have a lot of healthy options so if you're looking for that, this might not be your stop. I have been twice now and the second time I decided to order the French toast and Taylor ham. The French toast had cinnamon baked in which I definitely appreciated. It was light and fluffy. The scrambled eggs and Taylor ham were both good. Service: The waitress was nice but she didn't come around much. I could have used a lot more water and refills. M Overall/Summary: In all, Pats Original Diner started off rough but it did get better.

This is only one of there great dishes witch is Rigatoni Vodka

The hostess was very friendly. She immediately took us to our table. Then our waiter came. She was not friendly at all. It did not seem like she wanted to work there or serve us. We decided to move sections because we wanted to sit near a window since it was so dark in the main dining area. Unfortunately, we got the same server. Also, it was a very hot day and it did not seem like they had the AC on. Weird. The food and drinks were meh. I ordered the peach sangria. It was decent. Not too strong and not too sweet. My dad ordered a Coors Light. They didn't have it on draft so he had to get a cold glass. He enjoyed it. Their cocktail menu was very limited considering they have a full bar. We ordered one appetizer which was the onion soup. For our entree's we ordered the the B2 Bistro Burger, Mustard crusted salmon, and grilled chicken pasta. The French Onion Soup was delicious. Very hot but flavorful. However, it could have used less salt. The Bistro Burger was good. Cooked to perfection and very juicy. The fries were a bit salty but still edible. The Mustard Crusted salmon was meh. The salmon itself wasn't very flavorful. The rice was pretty bland but the green beans were delicious. The grilled chicken pasta was probably the best dish of the evening. It was very flavorful, hot, and cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed that entree. Overall, it was a good experience with minor flaws. I am not sure if I will return but if I do I don't think I will have any major issues. If you are in the area check them out. Cheers!

I passed it on the way to my hotel and immediately decided it was a place I wanted to check out. I'll admit I was a little alarmed when I walked in and realized it was giving neighborhood bar energy instead of the chic bistro vibes is expecting. I happened to arrive during trivia night, and most of the patrons seemed really into it so it was much louder and rowdier than I anticipated. So much for a quiet dinner. I asked the hostess if I could be seated in a booth away from the activity, but even in a less crowded section, the atmosphere remained pretty overstimulating. In addition to the enthusiastic trivia-playing patrons, there were loud, animated conversations among various staff members, music playing from staff member's phone while music was already playing throughout the restaurant, and just a lot of competing noise. After a three-hour drive, I was really hoping for a glass of wine, a nice meal, and a more relaxed environment. That said, the staff were all incredibly friendly and pleasant. You could tell that they genuinely enjoy working there and enjoy each other's company, which made it difficult to be too annoyed. Eventually, I popped in my AirPods and dissociated so that I could focus on enjoying my meal. For dinner, the Chicken Francaise with a glass of the Italian Pinot Grigio (The name escapes me at the moment). The wine paired beautifully with the meal. The chicken itself was a fairly thick cut and cooked perfectly, but it could have used a bit more seasoning. I also would have loved to see some of the risotto sauce drizzled over the chicken because, while the texture was spot on, the flavor was a little underwhelming on its own. The green beans were excellent. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crunch and lightly seasoned. But the real star of the show was the Parmesan lemon risotto. That risotto is easily among the top three best risottos I've ever had. The brightness of the lemon combined with the creamy parmesan made for an absolutely unforgettable dish. I was genuinely disappointed that I couldn't finish it because every bite was fantastic. Honestly, I could have ordered a plate of that risotto by itself and left completely satisfied. While the atmosphere wasn't quite what I was looking for, the friendly service and that unforgettable delectable risotto made the visit worthwhile.

It had been more than a year since my last visit to Marty's Place. Time flies!…read more I was driving by this morning after court, having skipped breakfast at home in order to get a jump on traffic going into the city. I saw a new sign out front on a Bud Light white board that breakfast was now being served 7 days a week! Hot diggity! I parked out back and walked in to a mostly empty bar (2 customers who looked like they were regulars). The bartender approached and we engaged about their breakfast menu. It was pretty wide open if my desires had anything to do with eggs. They did. I opted for a sausage, egg and cheese on Kaiser roll, and mug of java. While it was being created in the kitchen I watched a show about exotic car auctions. A Borgati opening at a cool million bucks was an eye opener. Another black transport used by John Lennon around London was also put up and sold. Pretty cool entertainment. The sandwich was great! Double patty, fried egg, American cheese and a fresh, quality roll, made for a tasty and fun meal. The side of homefries was likewise excellent - hot, crisp and spicy with sautéed onions in the mix. Coffee, strong and kicking. The only shortcomings were the lack of a joe refill offering, and lack of utensils. Luckily, I had a spoon from the coffee, which was fine as a shovel. Afterall, Marty's is still a wonderful corner dive. It was made for comfort, not for speed, nor etiquette.

I'd known about them for years, but they were kind of out of the way for me. The place is small and unassuming, which gave me high expectations, as sometimes I find myself having lower expectations for a more "Mexican" decorated place (I'm wrong as often as I'm right). As far as the Fish Tacos went, they do not serve the Baja style fried fish tacos that I'd grown up on out west, so it was a downer when the plater arrived and I saw the tacos filled with chopped fish cooked in broth. That said, at least the taco was well filled and the fish had a very good flavor. The broth turned out to be a major issue, as the (very tasty) single layer tortillas were soaking up the broth while I ate the first taco, and the second and third tacos both split at the seams and fell apart after one or two bites. A second tortilla may have prevented this debacle, but I won't order fish tacos here again. I'd have loved a fish soup made in this style. The next visit I tried Tacos de Tripa (fried pork intestines), which is my current go to taco style. They were very good, and I enjoyed the heck out of them. They were nice and crispy as I'd requested, and the excellent tasting tortilla made them an excellent choice. My wife had a cheese tamal that had ribbons of poblanos inside as well, and it was also very good with the poblanos providing a nice balance to the heaviness of the cheese. I'd get both again in a heartbeat. My third visit was at lunchtime, and I opted for a Torta de Chili Relleno--essentially a chili relleno sandwich. It wasn't the first I've ever had, and it's a fave torta when I see them on the menu--which isn't often. The torta arrived with a nice sized chili relleno along with the usual smear of beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and a couple pieces of queso fresco served on a lightly toasted roll. Overall, the torta was very good tasting, and it went down nicely. However, I wish they used a little firmer roll instead of the soft one they did use. The torta was big and warm, and a crustier roll would have been better. The soft one used was near to collapsing under the weight of the ingredients. Fries are an option on the many torta options for a couple dollars extra. In retrospect, I'd have liked to have added a layer of fries to the sandwich for a little extra kick. All in all, El Gallo Tropical is a place I'll continue to go to. The staff is very friendly, and the menu is extensive (too big?). Although I had them initially at three stars after my first visit for fish tacos, the second (4+) and third (4-) visits have raised them up, and I'm rounding up to a four.
