Paszkowski turned out to be the exception in a good way. They were busy with most of their outdoor seating taken. There was one table for two in the back so we took it. Substantial amount of outdoor seating but also a cafe. We ordered an Americano and a Flat White. Why can't the coffee be as good back home?! Proper Flat white-bold with a double shot of espresso-just what I needed! The Americano was also tasty and was accompanied by small containers of syrup and milk. The real surprise and discovery was they have a pastry/dessert and Cafe area inside. Picked up a Pain Au Chocolat with chocolate coating (a first), Focaccia with Grapes-wow!, and a Maritozzo-all delicious! Service was friendly and engaged. Don't miss their Cafe inside. read more

Came here because it was close to our accommodation. The service was rude but I chose a drink that sounded great. I believe it was called "Again". When I grabbed it to take a sip my hand was covered in blue sticky coloring which I had assumed was on the inside of the glass. I had to ask for napkins to get it off. This was not in the description of the drink. It was a bizarre way to serve a drink, especially without warning. I had to use a napkin to wrap around the glass to finish it. Location is good in a public square near high end shopping. Outside seating in a large enclosed area. Specializes in fancy drinks that look pretty although I wasn't drinking. I took a photo of someone else's drink. Three female host/ servers who were incredibly nice and welcoming. Piano music/ singer who was ok, covering American pop songs. Atmosphere was overall pleasant. (There was one rude waiter) That's the good. The bad is the food. Surprisingly terrible!!!!Everything tasted weird. Even the French fries tasted like they were fried in very stale oil. The bread served in the basket was subpar and had a sawdust taste and texture. Humus plate presentation looks pretty but tastes very disappointing. Tastes like blended canned garbanzo beans with nothing else in it. No lemon, no tahini, no garlic or olive oil. Club sandwich was seriously inedible. I could not eat it and regretted the one bite I did take. Lettuce on it looked wilted and old and it tasted indescribably strange. Came for drinks on patio on a hot day. Excellent drinks. My frozen punch was fragrant and just right. My husband got a non-alcoholic cocktail that he said was very refreshing. It is pricey though! They got American pricing! But you do get a chill vibe for that though. read more

This was recommended by the Tour Guy (aka Roman Guy) and it was right in the center of Piazza della Republica so the atmosphere and location is 5 star but the dinner fell a little short. Pecorino Ravioli- Looked great as the ravioli was covered with a cheese sauce and topped with pears but expecting a more flavorful combination. Spaghetti & Clams - under seasoned on both the pasta and the clams as it lacked the brine of the clams and the tart/sweetness of the pomodorini (cherry tomato). See bass with zucchini - another visually stunning looking dish but the view did not match the taste as it was definitely lacking in seasoning on the protein as well as the sauce. Great service & ambiance but it was definitely a location for tourists to enjoy the surrounding view, live music and drinks. read more

The historical significance of this place is hard to ignore. Every guide book will suggest you go here and it is worthwhile. It's inspiring to sit in a place so many influential people of the past came to spend time. But whether you come here for a morning coffee at the bar or their full on menu - it is worth it. I'm not sure the experience others have had but it was so friendly and helpful with recommendations. I had a couple pastries and small sandwiches with a shakerato (a cold espresso drink of heaven). The one thing about this place I love is the abundance of phenomenal music played every night. I never went past it and heard bad music. Yes, it's a little pricey but my bet is you're on vacation. Splurge on a bit of history where you can actually sit and enjoy a drink and a meal which you know you can't do at The Uffizi. read more

Beautiful restaurant in the middle of a busy plaza. We did not have high expectations for the food here, because it is in a very busy a touristy location, a short walk from the Duomo, but we were pleasantly surprised that how good their food actually is! My husband ordered their spring gnocchi dish with saffron and zucchini, and I ordered a shrimp Caesar salad. The saffron gnocchi was super delicious, it was the best gnocchi we've ever had. The gnocchi was soft and heavenly, the saffron flavor was just too good to describe. My shrimp salad was very good as well, the shrimps were huge and fresh, great flavors! read more

SERVED A BROKEN DRINK WITH AND CHOCKED ON GLASS! I was here last night with my brother, we were listening to the live music and ordered some drinks when I felt glass in my mouth. I started coughing and trying to get it out. I pulled a small piece out of my mouth but it was clear a larger piece had broken off. The waiter offered to get me a new drink and I ask to speak to the manager then the bartender came over and accused me of breaking the glass saying he wouldn't serve a broken glass again we asked for a manager then then a woman and guy that looked ike security came over the woman said I had drank half the drink so how did I not know the glass was broken. Beware of this restaurant! I ate at this restaurant last week and was pickpocketed during the meal. The waiter sat me right behind another table and the heaters were turned on a warm day. I took off my jacket and put it on my chair and the guy behind me took all my money out of the wallet in my jacket pocket. We have gone for dinner there and enjoyed it all so much we went back today for lunch, excellent choice of lunch options, we had a marvelous time and the food and service were exceptional! Matias was our waiter a few times and he was very personable and helpful in meal choices and helping us order. We are from California and speak very little Italian, the staff spoke English as well as a few other languages. It's our new go to place here in Florence. It's what we needed after a hot day. We ordered zucchini flowers with cheese and green pea sauce. I've never had this before and it's unique and so delicious! We had just arrived in Florence and checked in to our hotel nearby and needed a nice lunch after an exhausting travel from Naples. The Piazza here is huge and lovely and lined with nice restaurants, this one looked the most inviting with less crowds and fancier table setup. They were pleasant and the service was on the relaxed side as typical for Europe, which was fine as we wanted to take some time sitting. We actually visited this location in October 2018. We had explore the city all day and were rather tired. This happens to also be the pick up point for our hotel shuttle. So while we waited we went inside to get some espresso and desserts. We weren't quite sure of the ordering process but the guy at the counter allowed us to choose items from the desert case and place our order for an espresso. We then took a seat at one of the few tables that were in the bakery area. It was just a nice quick relaxing treat. The pastries tasted fresh even later in the evening which was about 8pm. This place was great, and they don't charge you to sit at the tables either. I actually came across it as I was wandering around the old city a night, namely because I wanted to go and check out one of the squares where a priest was burnt at the stake something like six hundred years ago. The atmosphere here was nothing short of electric, particularly since you had a guy on a grand piano connected to a laptop to create some pretty cool beats.
