This is a hidden gem! Great staff, friendly service, attentive care...great food! Everything is reasonably priced to where you can try a wide variety of menu items (which I highly recommend you do). I sampled their tequenos (a much better version of breaded cheese sticks), arepa, pastelitos, and cachapa. Everything was delicious and made fresh. Beware - your eyes may be bigger than your stomach, like me, and these items swell up! I so wish I could have eaten more because everything was delicious. read more

Came for a nice mother days breakfast and left for fathers day dinner time. Despite the food being decent and the staff are trying to be nice, the service delivery is verrrryyyy slow. Came here for breakfast. Been here for about 2 hours or longer waiting for our food and the kids patience is running low. The wait staff/kitchen needs training and the business seems to be chaotic. There's no structure. Our drink wasn't taken correctly and the water did not come out till we ask again 30 mins later. I asked for my food to come out separately since my pastelitos is my entree and other people are eating it as an appetizer. I reiterate this to the wait staff. It came all in a basket and I don't know which one is which. They also asked what I ordered and at this point im just really upset. It's already afternoon (1:15pm) food just barely starting to arrive...not coming here again.. Update. I saw a couple tables walk out due to the long wait for their food.. Another table was getting up and the manager rushed over and was able to persuade them to wait a little longer. I'm telling y'all, it's not just me. The restaurant cannot handle having a full house. I had the (ground) beef pastelito, which is a stuffed pastry. I also had the perfect Venezuelan coffee with cinnamon and a little sugar. I had the hot fresh chicken soup which had large pieces of chicken breast, a small corn on the cob, potato, served with chopped onions and cilantro. I also had the reina pepiada (avocado chicken salad) arepa to go. All were seasoned perfectly, not too spicy. I'm definitely going again and the prices are just right. I met the owner and his wife and they couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming. I loved the colorful paintings on the wall and the cozy but quiet atmosphere. I felt so at home here. No one told me this was a Christian restaurant!!! This is just what I needed on this Sunday morning. The music was refreshingly and surprising...made my soul glad while my body was well fed!! The plantains were perfectly cooked...softer on the inside with a slight crispness on the outside! I has the Criollo breakfast with no cheese, avocado instead. I had the Venezuelan coffee WITH almond milk! She gave me a free arepa to take home with me. The dough was cooked perfectly. Everything was so yummy here! The pastelitos w the guasacaca sauce were fresh and flavorful. We had the Caribbean beef and the platanos con queso. There's plenty of vegetarian options too -- the domino arepa was my favorite, but the cachapa was incredible as well. And the platanos..... wow. Beautiful and clean interior and friendly service. You were!!! This place is a excellent!!! The service is on point and very attentive. We decided to try their most popular breakfast plate. It was good but for us not enough to make us drive this far HOWEVER the pastelitos are incredible as was the empanada and the tequeno. Y'all were right the green sauce is fire and takes everything up a notch. I can't wait to return to try everything else. You must try this place it's worth it!!! Came here years ago with my bf but my coworkers frequently buy Pastelitos from here, so on a whim, and a craving decided to come by to pick up some of their delicious treats while on a apartment hunting excursion. We ordered tequenos, carribean beef empanadas, and guava and cheese, As per usual they did not disappoint and that amazing green sauce is heaven in a cup! Such a disappointing visit toPastelitos this past Sunday around 1:15. I had visited this restaurant a few times before and enjoyed my meals but sad to say i will never be back after this one. Basically it was just poor service, one meal was served and 10 minutes later my wife's meal arrived and then we had to walk around to find silverware. not once did anyone come over to ask if our meal was ok. At the time it was too far from where i lived or else I would have been here ever week, well now I have the pleasure of being less then 10 minutes away and made it a point to visit again yesterday and it did not disappoint. I got a Caribbean beef pastelito, which was filled with beef and veggies, a spinach and Alfredo pastelito, which was so yummy and creamy and a guava and cheese pastelito which was honestly my favorite because I'm a sucker for something sweet and the cheese adds a sweet and savory combo which made me have to come back for more. The inside of the restaurant is vibrant and welcoming. The staff is kind and helpful, the customer service is top notch, I had an issue with my order and I was immediately helped with a smile. The owners son even took the time to help which I very much appreciated. The prices are great considering the quality of the food. Love to know I'm supporting a family business as you can tell everyone there cares about the food they're making.This will be mine and my husbands new breakfast spot for sure. Floks!! I like to tell you about Patelitos Cafe. This is a Houston well kept secret. This is such a nice-cute-pleasant-GREAT food place of Venezuelan (South America) food located by the energy corridor on Eldridge this place is so nicely decorated. Their service is superb and their food is so suculent and delicious to say the least. The owners Jose & Carolina Criollo are such a nice people. Carolina took good care of us. I can surely guarantee everything on the menu is really good. The portions are more than enough. Everything is so good that we ordered a few things because is was hard to make up our minds what to eat! We started with a capuchino and a big latte. Best coffe Venezuelan style. We had also empanadas....Bejond of this world. Also had the fried cheese, "Queso de Mano" and a plate with scramble eggs with tomatoes and onions with carne macheda, black beens, fried plantain and a BIG arepa on the side....Also we had a Pepito (stake sandwich) with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese....Folks...This is the best steak sandwich I have EVER HAD. The meat was so lean, juicy and tasty. Their natural fruit shakes are very good and fresh as they prepare them upon request. To finish we order an empanada with guava and cheese. Very good as well. Last, We took home Paella to go. I have to tell you that being a paella connaisseurs I have to say that for a great Paella, this is the place. Rice perfectly loose, abundance of sea food. Nice and rich color. Ever since Tio PEPE closed I have been searching for a good Paella place and this is it!. Last, I do really recommend this place. Stop by and pay a visit to Jose & Carolina.
