Purchased a used 4-series BMW convertible as a second car from this dealership. A year later I take it for regular service and I am recommended $13,000 worth of repairs. I put less than 6000 miles on it. I have them install a new battery and that is it. I get a text the next day at 9:50am telling my car is ready for pick up and to make the picker quicker to pay it online. I paid it online and went to pick up my vehicle. Stephanie informed me that it was not ready. I checked on it several times and finally went to the service manager TJ around 3:00pm to complain. He agreed to follow up. Stephanie ends up calling me on my cell to tell me she reached out to her manager to discuss, and he agreed to refund $200 for the inconvenience and my vehicle should be ready in 30 minutes. I let her know that if it more than that we may have to renegotiate my refund. For the record, she did not reach out the manager, I did. I guess she wanted to pretend that she was being proactive when the truth is after several hours reaching out to the manager is exactly what SHE should have done instead of me having to. I finally get a call about 40 minutes later telling me my car is in the lane to be picked up. IT WAS FILTHY!!!!!! I could not believe that after my car being delivered to me about 7 hours after being told it was ready that they bring my car out with salt all on it from a recent snow fall and the inside not vacuumed. What an insult. You waste my entire day and then deliver my vehicle this way. It is two days later so I called to ask about my refund and why my vehicle was not washed. Stephanie told me that a request has to put in for the refund to get approved first. news to me. She then said because I had waited so long, she did not want me to wait another 40 minutes for a wash. Seems that decision should have been up to me. I am over this place! read more

I paid for a diagnostic service at Passport BMW, and unfortunately, it didn't lead to any real answers. They weren't able to identify the issue with my car, yet still charged me for the service. What was even more frustrating is that they then wanted me to approve additional, much more expensive diagnostics in addition to the initial one without any clear direction or confidence that it would actually solve the problem. I understand that not every issue is easy to pinpoint, but I expected a higher level of expertise and transparency--especially from a dealership. It felt like I was being asked to keep spending money without any real progress or accountability. I have been a customer of Passport BMW for over 20 years and purchased my current vehicle here. In 2013 I purchased a 2011 BMW 335I which was on the display room floor. I brought it back for preparation and when I got home, discovered that the wheels were peeling paint. I had no proof and the dealership only offered to replace them if I paid. Based on the condition of the wheels, I doubt they would have been on display in the showroom. I am a VIP customer for service with valet service. I had problems with the FM Module and battery which required towing in for service. I had recently purchased a 10 yr battery, which was 3 years old and was told it would be replaced if faulty. I needed the FRM module replaced via recall and the battery checked for stability. The team member informed me when I arrived that the battery faulty but not covered and presented me with a 750 dollar estimate to replace it. When I declined the battery, the team member said it would be need for the warranty FRM repair. I asked if he was refusing to replace the warranted item and after attempting to blame the problem on what he believed to be my lack use of the vehicle, it was charged, serviced and road tested. Although I was informed that there would be a loaner vehicle available for me, when I arrived at the shop, I was told that there was no vehicle available and asked what were my plans for transportation. After notifying them that I as stranded due to them not providing a loaner vehicle, I was provided with an Uber ride home but not back to the dealership. I had the battery checked and it was determined to be good and have had no problems with it. After the FRM replacement my headlights do not work properly and although the dealership indicated it was another problem not related to FRM, it appears to be a problem with the configuration. Based on this service incident, I do not feel comfortable returning to them for service due to the attempt to sell me significantly higher priced items that are not required. In addition, as a long time VIP customer, I do not appreciate being promised transportation only to casually explain without apology that it will not be provided. I understand the dealerships charge more for service and parts, but I utilized their service for trust and convenience. Since those things are no longer available, I will be having future maintenance done at independent certified BMW specialists. read more

This place is pretty decent. Every time I've come here it's pretty clean. While my car is under warranty, I'm able to get a loaner vehicle whenever it's getting serviced. However, they almost never have any loaner vehicles available. They have a partnership with Enterprise which allows you to rent a car for free while receiving service. Service is usually hit or miss. Sometimes I've had excellent service, others it was just okay. read more

I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from Passport BMW in May 2025, and my experience has been extremely disappointing. The pricing and sales process lacked transparency, and I was rushed through the purchase with very little clarity or care. Within one week, the vehicle began experiencing electrical issues. For more than a month, I was repeatedly told the issue could not be replicated and was dismissed despite clear evidence of a problem. It was not until I retained a lemon law attorney that the dealership took the situation seriously. Only then did they repair three issues--issues they had previously claimed did not exist. One of those issues still remains unresolved. I have never experienced such poor treatment or lack of accountability from a dealership. I expected far better, especially from a BMW Certified Pre-Owned program. read more

Wonderful experience at Passport. A few months ago I sent an email to them for a price quote and received a competitively priced response from Nathan (he is now a manager and isn't a sales advisor any longer). We had cross shopped at Sterling and Fairfax BMW, but Passport was a better deal and the level of detail and enthusiasm Nate has for the brand is what ultimately sold me on him more so than even the dealership. He knows the vehicles inside and out and really helped us decide on the options we wanted. By the time the car was in production, Nate had been promoted so we worked with Rachel during the final phases and also pickup. We were fortunate to get Rachel as she is also incredibly knowledgeable and very patient as we like to ask a lot of questions and brainstorm. Pickup was painless and we were out of there with our new car in a little over an hour. This was overall probably the best and easiest purchase we've ever had in the dozen or so cars we've bought. The Nate and Rachel combo was superb and we've been back to brainstorm our next vehicle. Passport isn't where we began our search, but it is where we were treated well and got a fair deal without any games. If we end up deciding on another BMW, there isn't any question that Rachel and Nate will be the first to know. read more

I then received a total cost proposal from a finance manager. I travelled 2 hours to buy the car--only to be told that a personal check would not be accepted. This had not been told to me. After 20+ years and not one, but two car purchases AND the purchase of enough parts to sustain a small village on any continent of your choosing, I find out the other day from a parts employee that this dealership offers a 10% military discount on parts. She happened to notice that I had on a camo hat that day and asked was I a vet. Something no one had done at any time prior over the years. I was reluctantly ordering a replacement key that was $267 so needless to say the 10% helped out quite a bit. I say reluctantly because the one I was replacing had a transmitter that wasn't working and it was less than 3 years old. Ugh. Chalk another one up for careless indifference here. Totally unprofessional and extremely bad business practices! This company has already awful reviews and it keeps getting worse. Purchased a used X5 from Passport BMW and have had nightmare issues. Have brought the car in once a month for 5 months straight for repairs. They have provided no realistic options for me here. They say they won't just swap the vehicle for me to give me one that does not keep breaking down unless I pay further to fix this lemon of a vehicle they sold me. Makes zero sense to pay for a cars repairs that will not be mine and accept a lower trade in value. I know it's a shock but when you provide an awful product you usually have to correct the situation as a company. This group does not seem to understand the most simple of business practices. Passport BMW of Suitland, Maryland ripped us off for $3,009.91. Here's how: our 2015 BMW 338i was leaking oil. A friend thought it might be the oil pan gasket. But we had no idea. We took it to Passport BMW. Our service rep said a thorough inspection was done and they found the oil pan gasket was leaking. So we authorized the work. The service rep said the vehicle was test driven "multiple times" after the so-called repair. We picked it up New Year's Eve and were told it was fine. We were initially appreciative they fixed it so fast, as we were shipping it to Florida on a covered car carrier on Jan. 5. As soon as it got to Florida, we realized the oil leak in fact was NOT fixed. We took it to a Florida BMW service center. They said the leak was in the valve cover gasket and that the smell we had before and were still having would not have come from the oil pan gasket. The Florida dealer actually fixed the problem, but we were out another $3,000 plus. We contacted Passport BMW to complain. Our service rep, who was courteous and professional throughout, nonetheless listed on our receipt that the car had the exact same mileage on it when we brought the car in and when we left it. So it was NOT test driven. She referred us to the service director, T.J. Lipinski, who totally blew us off, saying it didn't matter whether the oil pan gasket was leaking or not, because we authorized them to fix it! How's that for professionalism and integrity? He indicated Passport BMW did NOT conduct an inspection of the vehicle. We have complained to BMW of America, the Better Business Bureau, and if the BBB doesn't resolve this, we plan to sue. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE to Passport BMW! read more

If "0 stars" were an option, it's what I would select. Their Service Department's customer service skills are the absolute worst and their communication skills aren't any better. Ken was the only good Service Department Representative and he's now retired.. Walking in their 'conex box' office, the air feels stale and they don't even make eye contact with you. You're treated like a problem vice an actual customer.. Steve, especially, could learn to fix his attitude and hateful-looking face... If they can't figure out the actual problem with your vehicle, they'll just recommend you replace entire systems. This will lead to problems worsening and not actually being corrected. When trying to find a resolve, you might as well go directly to the service manager, TJ. The associates here need an attitude check and training on how to try to keep customers. Ever since we moved to the area and started using this Passport BMW location, our vehicle has had only problems; without end. We're never coming back to this location and willing to drive an hour-and-a -half to any other location over this store. read more

My experience with Passport BMW service was exceptional. I purchased a 2018 X3 from Carvana and it was still under their 90 day warranty period when I had an issue with my struts. I worked with Stephanie and she was terrific every step of the way and took care of the claim on her own behind the scenes to ensure I only paid for the deductible. She even ensured I had a loaner at no cost as the X3 was my only car at the time. The car was fixed within 2 days and was in great shape upon return. If I could give this place a -100 I would. The worst service ever!! No one ever answers the phone. And when they do, they have an attitude. Also, I purchased my car off of the showroom floor and have had so many problems. Moreover, compared to other cars that I have driven as loaner,, mine does not have the same features, and they cannot tell me why. - despite it being the same exact car. I have been trying to make a service appointment via phone for the last 30 minutes with no answer. Utterly ridiculous. I just did the auto butler service and Hyun Kim who helped me check in and get me a loaner was very friendly and professional. He had a personal approach towards clients, which I appreciate. As for the actual check up and clean service, I don't think they have done a thorough job. It looks like they didn't bother to clean the trunk. ****BEWARE**** If I could give them a zero rating, I would. I purchased a certified, 36k mile, 2021 BMW 740i from Passport BMW of Camp Springs Md. I had this vehicle for 3 months. Recently my vehicle would not start. Everything else came on but the engine would not start. I didn't believe that my vehicle needed a jump, but roadside assistance attempted to perform a jump & that was unsuccessful. "Drivetrain malfunction" appeared on the screen. A burning rubber odor & smoke was coming from the engine compartment. Everything was functioning in the vehicle; The car just wouldn't start. I had to tow my vehicle from Baltimore Md to the Passport BMW Service Center in Camp Springs Md. I explained all of this to my service rep. The Service Department had my vehicle for 24 hours. The mechanic claimed that they had to jumpstart my vehicle to get it to start. I don't believe that they had to jump start my vehicle to get it to start at all. They mentioned that a fault test was performed on my vehicle. It was mentioned that I needed a new battery replacement. Keep in mind that the battery was not covered under either of the two warranties that I have on the vehicle. I was told the amount for the battery was $720. That didn't include labor & tax. These are supposed to be certified experts, so I trusted them. After spending $875.24 & leaving the dealership with my vehicle. A couple of days later my vehicle wouldn't start & the same issues occurred. So that makes me feel that the battery was never the issue. I feel that these people really took advantage of me. So, when I called the service department to inform my service advisor of the same issues I was having with my vehicle. I wasn't going to be able to get my vehicle in for service that same day before their department closed. So, I had to work on getting my vehicle there the following morning. Fortunately, the next day my vehicle started & I was able to drive it & park right in their service lane. When it was time for them to start my vehicle. It wouldn't start for them. The service men tried to jumpstart my vehicle, but that wasn't successful. I told them "The vehicle shouldn't need a jump, when you all just put a brand-new battery in it a few days ago." Interestingly, the previous report claimed they had to jump start my vehicle with the "old battery" & with the "new battery" they couldn't get my vehicle to start by trying to jump start it. My vehicle had a burning odor, it started to smoke & do all the things I initially told them it was doing right before everyone's eyes. After they had my vehicle this time around, I received a text stating that my vehicle was ready for pickup. I asked them what was the issue with my vehicle? They told me they replaced the "starter motor." While they had my vehicle, they also changed the spark plugs & the cabin filter. These parts were covered under the warranty. I'm extremely disgusted & dissatisfied with how my experience was. I reached out to the Service Department Manager & wasn't happy about the feedback that I received from him either. I believe that these people were not honest with me from when I purchased this "Certified Vehicle" from the sales department. Or honest with me in the Service Department when this situation happened with the vehicle malfunctioning. Now I'm on edge, wondering if they fixed the issue & anticipating whether my car will begin to have the same issues. This is my first & last purchase & my last time dealing with this Service Department. I don't trust these people. Now I think I should investigate whether this vehicle qualify as a lemon. Unfortunately, I can't recommend as a former customer. Had my BMW appraised, as someone at Passport expressed interest in buying our BMW. I leased from Passport 1.5 years ago, and while they definitely weren't the best in price then, I had a decent experience. Figured they would be decent again... Fast forward to today, Tyrell helped me out in filling out the paperwork. I was upfront with issues (missing key and damage Passport already assessed.) Sales Manager Matt Charske did the appraisal. I already had quotes from other dealerships, just giving Passport the opportunity. Matt came with a pretty low offer compared to the market and other dealerships. I assume he's either inexperienced or thinks customers are idiots. He started with a list of issues: first the tires, after I informed him they were recently replaced in Alexandria, he went onto the missing key, which I offered to pay cash for, then the damage, which I informed him they already assessed and didn't explain the low offer. He then mentioned an influx of X3's coming in, which leads me to believe he is inexperienced as this is a M40i, not a typical X3. I could tell he was struggling to explain why the low price. After he realized he didn't carry much weight and already knew the value, he gave up. I gave another opportunity and only came up a slight amount. Only positive was Tyrell who really only assisted with the paperwork and going to Matt. Recommend going first to another BMW before here, much better prices on new, better offers on used. NEVER AGAIN. I called on Thursday to check status of tire/wheel warranty. One tire had to be replaced, the customer service rep said i didn't need an appointment bcuz this considered an emergency. I came in at 10:30, at 12:30, I asked for status. He said, bcuz I was a walk-in, they're others with appointments before me. Wait, what?. When called yesterday, you said appts weren't necessary. Finally I get the status email, and im told the opposite tire is bad and the bad tire is good and I also needed brakes and an oil change in 500 miles. Excuse me?? No, im not getting brakes or the oil change, just the tires. At 1:30, he tells me both tires were approved for replacement by the warranty people and it will be another 30 minutes. At 2:45, im finally getting my keys and paperwork . This is so frustrating !! This location is convenient but I will have to rethink this bcuz 4.5 hours for two tires?? After being close to selling my previous BMW to a dealership in VA, I was referred to BMW Passport which was such a blessing through both gentlemen. An hour before closing, BMW Passport Sales Department, Nana Prempeh, would be the personnel to assist with my trade in and purchase. Mr. Prempeh provided a phenomenal experience at such a short notice on a Saturday evening in hot July! The entire process took about 2.5 hours with Finance staying to assist as well as trade in. Lastly, the outstanding service did not end on Saturday but continued after finalizing the sell. If you are buying with trade in or not, consider BMW Passport. read more

This used to be my go to place to service my BMW vehicle but that changed today. In November of 2024 I purchased the unlimited 3 year oil change plan. My car was hit a few weeks ago (In December) and was considered a total loss by the insurance company. I've since purchased a new vehicle and asked BMW Passport if they could roll the oil change plan to the new vehicle since it was not utilized on the old vehicle and advised them of my car being totaled. I was told no by Kim from the service department. So I then asked for a refund since this service couldn't be rolled over and was also told no. Not only was he very dismissive of my questions and concerns but he also raised his voice in a hostile manner which I found to be extremely unprofessional when all I was doing was trying to get some clarification. I never once raised my voice. I immediately told him that his demeanor was rude and unprofessional and canceled my upcoming service with them. I would never take my car to get services by anyone or anyplace with such behavior and am not planning to ever go back there. read more

I located the car with the specs I wanted and they were able to work with the dealer to do an exchange to acquire the car from the out of state dealer. I did my research before going to the dealer and knew the price point for the car. No back and forth negotiating and was able to get paperwork processed, in and out in 2hrs tops. I was given 60 day temp tags, got worried didn't hear anything about my plates being transferred after 50 days. Contacted the dealer and found my dmv paperwork was not submitted. I received brand new plates instead of getting my plates transferred, as previously requested. read more

The car died in Delaware, they blamed me for driving an overheated car,,‼ They did absolutely nothing but insult me, and block my phone calks. From our conversation yesterday it seemed that I had been "branded" as unreasonable and unwilling to let you tow my BMW and that all I was willing to accept was a cash reimbursement for the value of my car. Horrible service department. They serviced my BMW recently. I was driving the vehicle and I heard a noise. Popped the hood and saw a plastic piece duck tapped together to hold it in place. I informed TJ Lapensiki the manager, he said I was lying and that he cant vouche dor where the car has been since that service. At one point they said it could have not been their shop and probably when u bought the vehicle. Mind you I bought this vehicle from a BMW dealership. Brought my car in for a routine oil change and was told I needed a few additional services. I opted to have them done and 3 days later I pick my car up to a large oil stain on the driver's seat, a tear in the leather on the passenger seat, 100 less gas miles, the radio turned on, passenger side visor pulled down appearing evident that someone stole my car for a joy ride and picked up a passenger. The service manager TJ stated at me blankly like he couldn't possible give less of a damn that I'd picked my car up in worse condition than what I'd dropped it off. He showed he didn't much care by not following up with any sort of courtesy call, blaming it on being out for personal issues. He hadn't even told my service advisor that he'd promised to replace my seat covers and I had to press to get that so he had no intention of replacing my seats with oil and torn leather. I was offered a glorified car wash (detailing) and they replaced the passenger seat cover after I fought for that. I demanded a refund and TJ thought it was more important to keep my money and essentially make a customer pay for this poor service that I'm sure is only happening because of the community this dealership serves. So I'll take my car to Alexandria or Silver Spring but these people can't even wash my car for free at this point. To add insult to injury, I'd been given a dirty, smelly loaner for my initial service and was only given a decent replacement loaner after they ruined my seats and had to keep my car to replace the seat. Mike, my service advisor did all he could to help and was appalled at the condition my car was in when I showed him the pictures so although TJ tried to blame this all on Mike, it is he who is a terrible example of a service manager.
