We went to Pasquale's for lunch. Pros: The food was delicious. We had the Italian sub sandwich and the lasagna. The server was fine. The restaurant is beautiful inside. Cons: The food is pretty expensive but you get big portions as in two meals from one dish. Our order took a while (the reason I'm only leaving 4 stars). The four of us enjoyed a lovely meal for my wifes birthday Tuesday night. Made a reservation for 6pm & they we're almost a full house when we arrived. We had the following. Brushetta for an appetizer, Scallops over risotto, lobster ravioli, lasagne, seafood pasta. Ceasar salad add on. All the dishes were fresh & yummy. Brushetta was a bit overly crunchy, but nice mix of tomato, basalmic glaze and cheese. Scallops were on special & charred properly, risotto hot and rich. Lobster ravioli had a creamy tomato sauce, good, not my favorite. Meat lasagna may have had a mixture of beef/veal,rich and filling. Pasta with bay shrimp and an Alfredo sauce was surprisingly tasty. We came in on Father's Day and though we were seated right away...we waited maybe 15 minutes and no one had come by to take our order. We had a baby with us who started to get fussy so we decided to get our food to go. We ordered and paid for a carbonara, full size garlic bread (6 pieces), Caesar salad with salmon (because they were out of chicken), and a large Caesar salad. The order came out quick. When we got home and opened our order...no salmon on the salad, barely any ham in the carbonara and 2 pieces of garlic bread. Our initial waitress did come around while we were waiting to apologize for the wait time which was thoughtful. However, the phone line was cut when I tried to call for a refund. Pasquale's did not disappoint! So good! First time here, we love Italian food! We travel quite often and at least once during our trips we choose Italian in the place we are visiting. I had the Mushroom Ravioli with Creamy Pesto sauce. Perfect. It was not acidic in any way. Perfect blend of pesto and cream (Alfredo) sauce. Raviolis were not mushy or too al denti, it was perfect. Mushrooms were fresh. I thought I'd have to bring some home but kept graze eating, even if I was full. My husband and daughter had the chicken parmigiana. He really enjoyed it also. Chicken was perfect, not dry. My son-in-law, who is Italian, really enjoyed his creamy pesto fettuccine with Italian sausages. My grandkids had a simple cheese pizza and they loved it. They have indoor and outdoor seating, we opted for outdoor, and the weather was perfect. The kids were a little restless, and so it helped that we were outdoors. Nice place in old Auburn tiny neighborhood, difficult to park so you need to be patient. The decor is rustic and warm and rather pretty, there are some excellent Italian wine bottles in large format here and there giving the impression that someone here has some knowledge of famous producers ( Biondi Santi, Antinori, ...) The menu is exactly what you find in an Italian restaurant in the USA, no surprise. The room was full of guests, we seated at the bar, many potentiels guests keep arriving during the entire time we were there, giving a good impression on what quality we could expect. The owner was serving the tables very energicaly, and I noticed immediately the natural charisma and authority that emanated from her presence. She was very welcoming and so was the other staff member. I was surprised to see that only two persons were on staff for this very busy saturday lunch, so inevitably and unfortunately something did not go smoothly. The very good looking dishes accumulated on the distribution table and were not dispatched to the customers table, instead, the owner focused on welcoming more customers and the second staff member continued her very slow moving pace like if there were no urgency. We received our starter eventually, the calamari friti, and there were very good, the two sauces were very tasty and we could tell the deep frying oil was fresh and clean. We were not in a hurry so we did not mind that it took a while for our main dish, a pizza and the clam spaghetti to show up. However, as we were seated in front of the distribution table, we could witness that these dishes were delivered by the kitchen around 20 minutes before we received them. I refused to eat the pasta as they were totally cold and possibly unsafe at that point, the pizza was dead cold but we did not mind as much for that specific dish and by that time we were hungry. The pizza was delicious, the thin crust was crispy, more like a real Napoli pizza than the American version. Later when we finished the pizza arrived some garlic bread we did not touch as we were done. But everything I had plenty of time to see passing by looked really good. I am going to give it soon another try, perhaps it was just an unfortunate busy day with not enough staff... However, I reviewed here several comments that seems to indicate that this issue is recurrent...Laura, you have a great base here, a potential gem, now , with your long experience, you ought to reorganize the priorities: the food produced by the kitchen need to be immediately dispatched, for sanitary reason and of course reputation, I would be sad to see that an FDA inspection give you a negative note. The customers would promptly consume and leave, this making room for the next customers waiting in line. read more

We found this gem by accident. A group of us were in Auburn for meetings and were looking for a place for dinner and Pasquale's popped up. Service and food was great. We returned a few months later for another meeting and had to come back to try other dishes. No disappointments there, more deliciousness. I would say 4 stars for service. - Outdoor seating is pretty good, but some unavoidable street noise is present and the music should probably be more classic Italian instead of 70's mellow rock. Cons: - The food. Wife's antipasto salad was huge but mostly just lettuce, with hardly any meat or cheese or any of the "good stuff". Big let-down. My sausage sandwich was not good. It had very little flavor. The sausage, the sauce... just not good. I ate less than half. The server did remove it from the bill which was appreciated, and she offered a meatball sandwich to replace it, but I passed. So we both ended up leaving still hungry. Verdict: - Disappointed. I like this Italian restaurant a lot. We got lucky to get our table at walk-in during dinner time. This place is popular and totally packed and I can understand why. Super excited to try on the three most popular dishes. The fried cheese ravioli, the egg parmigiana, and the lasagna are the must have! The dishes were served hot which made our dinner taste so much better. I can tell the chefs cook our meals with joy and love as every thing was delicious and tasty. The ambiance was amazing. Ok, I was so excited after reading the reviews of this place and checking out their menu but my husband and I walked away going "meh.... Just not that good!" I will say the appetizers were good - bruschetta and caprese salad got us very excited for the entrees. Fresh, flavorful and delicious. The entrees were the most bland, mediocre nonsense I've ever had an Italian restaurant. The Chicken Parmesan tasted like a chicken strip fried in dirty oil covered in cheese. I got the pesto sauce on my noodles and honestly pesto is one of my favorite foods and I find it hard to mess up. It was SO bland! It needed that basil, lemon, pinenut flavor that just makes basil fabulous. My husband got their Halibut special which was also incredible bland and boring. The atmosphere would have been really sweet if it weren't for the large tv with a fake fire place. Screens make any restaurant WAY less cozy and quaint, in my opinion. We ate on the outside patio following the Auburn "No Kings" rally and protest. Although the food was OK, the behavior of the management was atrocious and disgusting. Pro-Trump music was intentionally increased to a point that diners were unable to hear each other. Folks who had been to the rally were forced to hide their signs in the back of the restaurant. Apparently, the intolerant management has decided that this otherwise good Italian restaurant should become a pro-Trump, in-your-face establishment that caters only to those that have the same political sentiments. My husband and I were finally able to stop in and try Pasquale's for an evening out. We shared some Crab Cakes as an appetizer. We got 5 tiny smashed balls a little bigger than a quarter. Definitely overcooked, despite that, the flavor was still OK. With each crab cake being smaller than a bite, it was over before it started. We shared a small antipasta salad, which my husband liked, I felt there was too much iceberg. We shared a Chicken Parmesan. My husband complained that he felt the chicken Parmesan was too salty. I think rather the chicken fillet was so very thin that the crust on the chicken overtook the flavor of the dish. The marinara sauce was good and had a nice flavor. The service and atmosphere were nice. There are only a few booths and they were all reserved. The drinks we ordered were very good and probably the highlight of the outing. I got the lavender lemon drop, and my husband ordered a Long Island iced tea. The glasses we appropriate in size and I could actually taste the lavender in my drink.
