Both sides were excellent--the crust had just the right balance of crisp and chew, and the toppings were fresh and thoughtfully put together. The real surprise, though, was the Caprese salad with peaches. It was so unbelievably good that we completely forgot to take a picture before it disappeared. Honestly, it's one of the best salads I've ever had. The peaches added just the right amount of sweetness, and everything tasted incredibly fresh and perfectly balanced. By the time we finished, I was completely stuffed, but my boyfriend still found room for the homemade Oreo and mint ice cream. I was too full to try it, but judging by how quickly it vanished, I'm guessing it was just as good as everything else we ordered. The restaurant has a fun, laid-back atmosphere that feels welcoming without trying too hard, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Bicycle Thief is absolutely worth the drive to Grass Valley, and we'll be making it a point to come back.

The red sauce was "perfection"...tomato rich with just the right amount of olive oil and garlic. The crust was crispy and sublime. Be sure to order a side of their spicy crispy shallot ranch...YUMMY! The service was spectacular (thank you, Alexus!), and the turnaround was fast for pizza. Nice selection of brews and wine. We'll definitely return. (Sorry about the photo...we were too hungry to wait!)

Our compliments to the kitchen for whipping up these tasteful treats. Every dish has a unique and delightful flavor profile, keeping you riding through a culinary adventure Everything we ordered was delicious. Really enjoyed that many of these dishes had a fusion of flavors: - Samosas - Coconut shrimp - Pastry wrapped asparagus - pork belly - tuna carpaccio - meatballs - Mediterranean tacos - sticky toffee cake It's so hard to choose favorites, cuz they all feel like favorites, but some standouts for me were the samosas, PorkBelly, the pastry wrapped asparagus, and the sticky toffee cake. The service was stellar! Our server, Grace, gave us a warm welcome and made us feel right at home. She checked in on us and made sure we were well taken care of. She also had some really great recommendations on plates to try. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. The plates were beautiful, and the area we were sitting at (in the back) felt intimate and had a very nice sky light providing natural light where we dined. The location is great, just off the Main Street. There's lots of cute shops and restaurants around the area. It's super walkable and just a great place to hang. Thank you everyone at The River, we can't wait to be back!

River Dog: Grass Valley's Best-Kept Secret…read more Let me tell you about Auggie, the chef. Auggie takes a regular hot dog, something most places treat as an afterthought, and turns it into a work of art for your taste buds. I didn't know a hot dog could make me say "wow" out loud, but here we are. I ordered a hot dog with a hard root beer, and that combo is an absolute win. The chili dog got rave reviews too. Everyone at the bar who ordered one agreed it was perfection, and when a whole bar full of strangers reaches a unanimous decision, you listen. I didn't order anything else except for the chili dog and the hotdog, but the salads and pizza that were being brought out of the kitchen look divine. The vibe matched the food. The locals were so kind and lovely, the kind of people who make you feel like a regular on your first visit. The guy behind the bar at the brewery was full of information and knew a little bit about everything, which made lunch feel like a great conversation with a side of the best hot dog in town. And the best part? It's a bar that lets dogs in! As a certified dog lover, this alone earns bonus stars I'm not technically allowed to give. A place called River Dog that welcomes actual dogs is my kind of place. A lovely lunch all around. We'll definitely be back, Auggie. Keep those dogs coming.

A Hidden Gem in El Dorado Hills Amazing Food & Even Better…read moreHospitality! My wife and I stopped by Vine EDH for lunch today while we were in El Dorado Hills for a doctor's appointment. We were hungry, happened to stumble upon this cozy little spot, and I'm so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by Jaime, who was working behind the bar. Right away, I told my wife, "She looks like she owns the joint." Turns out--I was right! We asked Jaime for her recommendations, and she suggested the tri-tip tacos. We went with those along with the chicken caprese sandwich and truffle fries. The kitchen happened to be having an issue with the oven that day, so the food took a little longer than Jaime wanted. But my wife and I honestly didn't mind one bit. We were enjoying some rare time alone away from the kids, having a great conversation, and chatting with Jaime. She was incredibly personable and made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. Then the food started arriving. First up were the tri-tip tacos, and they were absolutely scrumptious. The meat was flavorful and tender, with just the right balance of zest and saltiness. They disappeared pretty quickly! Next came the chicken caprese sandwich, and WOW. The chicken was tender, the fresh mozzarella paired perfectly with the spinach, and everything came together beautifully. It was an amazing sandwich. But for me, the unexpected star of the show was the truffle fries topped with cheese. Crispy, piping hot, cheesy, and ready to be devoured. I could have easily eaten another order by myself. My wife enjoyed a refreshing glass of white wine, while I was the responsible driver for the day and stuck with a near beer. Then came the biggest surprise. When I pulled out my credit card to pay, Jaime told us that our entire meal and drinks were on the house because of the delay. We were genuinely shocked. The funny thing is, we weren't upset about the wait at all. We had enjoyed every minute of our lunch. But that gesture told us everything we needed to know about Jaime and the way she runs her business. She truly takes pride in Vine EDH and genuinely cares about making sure every person who walks through the door has an amazing experience. Great food will bring you into a restaurant, but hospitality like that is what makes you remember it and want to come back. We will absolutely be returning the next time we're in El Dorado Hills. Except next time, I'm making sure we bring some cash so we can leave a BIG tip for the amazing bartender who just happens to be the owner too! Thank you, Jaime, for the incredible food, your kindness, and especially your amazing hospitality. You turned what was supposed to be a quick lunch into one of the highlights of our day. Vine EDH absolutely earned five stars from us. We'll be back!
