A divine diverse menu with all yummy foods. Service was excellent as our wait staff was excellent!! We sat outside on a warm Saturday evening the ambience was most enjoyable. I had lobster ravioli and was very impressed by the innards. My hubby had lasagna and he loved his entree. Our guests had eggplant dish and a summer pasta dish. They ate every bite!!!! Our appetizers were superb. Our desserts were delicious. I had caramel gelato with choco bites. OMG!!! Better than the gelato I used to have in NYC!! TLDR: Long wait, good service, decent food. 3 stars overall. Hoping to finally find "that one great Italian restaurant" in my area, we called before leaving our home to drive to Pasquale's. We were told that they had a 30-ish minute wait at that time and that a table might be available when we arrived. I wasn't necessarily expecting this time to be the case, but we made the 30 min drive to Pasquale's and hoped for the best. When we arrived, we were told that there'd be a 20 min wait for a table for two. That was okay with us. They took my wife's cell number and we were told they'd text us when our table was ready. While we waited, we browsed a shop close by for about 15 mins. We walked back to Pasquale's to wait for a text. Waited another 15 mins then checked to see how much longer it would be. They estimated another 5 mins, as they said they were just about to clear a table. It's been quite a while since I've spent so much time writing about a wait for a table...so, to make a long story short, 55 mins after we first arrived, our table was ready and we were seated. Come on guys! Moral of the story? For us, maybe order from the bar next time. For Pasquale's? Get better at estimating wait times and/other managing expectations. Moving on... Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a half-carafe of Sangiovese, which was quite nice. My wife ordered the eggplant parmigiana and I had the lasagne. Both dishes were flavorful and seasoned well. Our antipasto salad was very good. Some of the better Italian food I've had in the area (between Roseville and Auburn). But honestly, I'm still looking for a great Italian restaurant in our area. We completed our meal with a couple affogatos. Overall - 2,66 stars - rounded up to 3 stars. Service - 4 stars Food - 3.5 stars Ambiance - 3.5 stars - well decorated. Subtract - 1 star for mismanagement of wait time expectations. Quoted 20 min wait. Actual wait was 55 mins. Would we go back? We had a reservation for our Saturday night dinner. This restaurant is actually the 3rd iteration of Pasquales. It began in Auburn as a Take & Bake, then morphed into a full-scale restaurant on Hwy 49 (briefly moved to downtown Auburn) and finally to its present location in Historic Auburn. Pasquales was very good in its previous incarnations but tonight we enjoyed one of the best dining experiences anywhere. We were greeted and seated right away and served a basket of classic garlic bread . This was "old school" garlic bread! Hard to find anymore and I'm not sure why. Our waitress, Gina, treated us like we were her only tables. Amazing since the place was packed with locals, skiers, families and anniversary celebrants. I had the Rigatoni with Proscuitto and a Caesar salad. 10 out of 10! My companion enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan and a Wedge salad. 10 out of 10. The homemade Cannolis sealed the deal! Gina's service, along with her helpers was 11 out of 10. We love Italian food. I was born and raised in San Francisco, a place with world-class Italian restaurants. I have also been to Italy. I've been here a couple times before but last night Pasquale's leveled WAY UP on my local favorites list. From start to finish, everything was absolutely EXCELLENT. We started with the Brussels Sprouts appetizer which are light and delicious (not burnt or greasy like I've seen at many other places). I took a chance on the Cioppino, which I rarely do because NOBODY makes it like my Dad did. I was beyond impressed, it was incredible! Everything in it is cooked perfectly, just the right hint of heat, a generous portion of mussels and clams and scallops. We also tried the Marsano pasta and I'll probably be getting that next time. The servers are all very nice and make you feel at home. We have been to a couple Italian restaurants in the past few days and I'm sorry to say this fell way below the others, starting with service, as my brother said she was very nice looking some definite eye candy, but not very attentive! Bread came out ltr, no grounded cheese for any dish, and water refills was pretty slow, and didn't even get the how was your dish! With that being said, we had the chipino over linguine noodles, in the details of the dish it said there was salmon! Well I couldn't find any and I tried, but they did put 5 shrimp in the dish and the scallops were really good. The sauce was average, but we compare this dish to Vito's in Turlock, and definitely missed the mark! My wife had the bruschetta white sauce pasta, and it was creamy and very rich tasting, she liked it but didn't rave about it. My sister in law, had the sausage and pasta dish, she thought it was a red sausage dish, but it came out in a white sauce, my brother wanted to send it back because this wasn't what she ordered but she said leave it she will be fine with it. She ate half of her dish and gave up. Overall the dinner cost 42$ a plate with the tip, which into standards I guess isn't that much! Although we went to Siena two days ago and it was only 25$ a plate... with a tip and the food and service was definitely better. So in a nutshell would we return... probably not! read more

This is a perfect restaurant! From start to finish it's all comfortable. My preference for seating is definitely a booth so I request that with my reservation. We have enjoyed dining here several times so I try to select different items from the menu with each visit. I would always choose their lasagna but this time I ordered Chicken Parmesan and it was exceptional being tender and breaded perfectly. Their caesar salad is outstanding too. Don't miss it!! Just left Pasquale's without ordering. We're locals and have come here multiple times and enjoyed eating there. Today was not the case. We were blatantly ignored by multiple servers while groups of customers who arrived after us were brought water, ordered drinks, and even got to order food. We did not get so much as an acknowledgment of our presence from a waiter. If anything, they avoided eye contact as they passed. Barring misunderstanding, we won't be back again. read more

I really don't understand the negative reviews, especially about the cost and things like no fresh cracked pepper, Parmesan, and clams. Have you all been to a restaurant lately? Everything has gone up in price and how do you expect a restaurant in Auburn to have fresh clams anyway? We tried Pasquale's in Auburn recently because of our fond memories of the original we used to frequent in Carmichael when we were teenagers/young adults. It did not disappoint! The gnocchi was excellent and the Alfredo sauce was spot on. The garlic bread was perfect and the service on a busy Saturday night was great. Marinara was just ok, they were out of meat sauce. Asked for a meat ball to compensate. But no. They upcharge on everything. My mom ask for Xtra sauce. They charged us extra for it. They did give me a scoop of spamoni for my birthday (reluctantly) Slow service. Very sorry Strings closed up. You got whole meal including salad/soup, bread. Their Spamoni was 3 generous scoops. Our first visit. Party of four. Seated promptly. Water proffered immediately. We were served by Jason. Each of us had a different entree and requested small modifications which were accommodated without problem. Each of the dishes were served hot and at the same time. The portions are just right. We all shared calamari which was excellent - crisp and hot. Two of us had the beet salad which was enjoyed very much. Two of us had Caesar salads which were disappointing. The romaine lettuce was not crisp and the dressing was pretty nondescript. My wife had Chicken Picata which was over sauced. The garlic bread was also oily so not too enjoyable. On balance, although the service was a little slow, Jason was attentive and did a great job, and the food is generally good. The ambiance is pleasant but the acoustics need some work. This restaurant is worth a try if you are in the Old Town section of Auburn. read more

They have been open for five weeks. Dog friendly outside patio. We arrived around 5pm Wednesday with our dog and were seated right away. We ordered lasagna (delicious) and clam linguini (it said spicy sauce but really mild - delicious). We finished our meal with double chocolate gelato - yum! We forgot to take pictures, next time. After experiencing a few misses here early on in, the last 2 visits have been wonderful. Auburn doesn't have many great restaurant options, so Pasquale's is often very busy as one of the few offering an upscale experience- Friday and Saturday nights reservations are a very good idea. Last night I made a late reservation by calling the restaurant due to nothing available in the online system- after being delighted to see they've upgraded to an online res system. The hostess was able to fit in my party of two later in the evening. Arriving 15 mins early, we were offered a seat at the bar for a drink while we waited for our table. The wine and beer selection is great and the bartender was friendly and chatty despite it being a full house. The ambiance is casual and inviting, the tables spread nicely throughout an open space. I ordered salmon- which was fresh and perfect and cooked as I requested. Dining partner ordered the risotto with scallops- reported to be slightly over cooked (they're finicky little things) but still very good. The service was great. The whole experience was about 1.5 hours as we lingered a while after dinner, finishing drinks and enjoying the space. Now that the ease of reservation making has improved, I'm sure we'll be back here more often. read more

This is the first time I have been to Old Town Auburn. My family wanted to try out Pasquale's and we are very glad we did. We had the pizza and the Rigatoni and prosciutto dish. Both were delicious. The pizza crust was similar to my home made crust and the sauce was really good. The pasta dish was one of the best I have ever eaten. The server was vey nice, and let me taste a few of the wines.
