When it came out I saw it was with Flageolet bean Ragout which unfortunately I cannot eat, so I had to let Anna our server know. We decided to also order escargot and French onion soup. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. We've been coming here for awhile but not as frequently as we used to. Figuring it was a Monday night, we didn't make a reservation and just walked in. We were seated at least 5 minutes and didn't get any water. When we finally did we were overwhelmed by the heaviness of the perfume the hostess was wearing. We wanted to order drinks and tried signaling to the waiter but he was too busy talking with the hostess. The busboy came by and we ordered drinks with him and then a waitress came over to confirm our order. She brought our drinks and asked if we were ready to order and we said no we'd have our drinks and order later. We should've ordered with her then and there because that waiter, still engulfed in his conversation with the hostess didn't come by for quite sometime. Again, we tried signaling him but he wasn't paying attention. Fast forward to when our food arrives. I think they may have changed chefs or they were having an off night because our food wasn't the same quality as we've had in the past. Overall it was a disappointing night. The service was awful, the waiter came by once maybe to check on us, and that was in between his walks outside and socializing with the hostess. I believe he needs to learn customer service. And they need to get more vigilant water pourers as it took forever to get water. We will be coming back, but not on a Monday night. read more

I eat here often and have always liked the welcoming, kind service, the low key, French bistro atmosphere and the reliably good food selection. So I was a bit disappointed when I tried brunch. Seeing they had biscuits, a favorite of mine, I chose "eggs on biscuit". If you're expecting a biscuit, you'll be disappointed as it's a piece of bread. When I inquired about it, they said, it was an English biscuit and seemed annoyed. My friend who ordered the French toast was happier with their meal. So I'll still go back for dinner, but if you're looking for a welcoming morning atmosphere and a biscuit, American or English, I'd look other places in the neighborhood. read more

My mom couldn't decide what to order, so she went with two appetizers. The salmon tartare was outstanding and unlike any she'd had before, with a unique flavor that may have included ginger. She also ordered the sea scallops served with Black Forbidden Rice and a Madras Curry Emulsion. The sauce was rich, unique, and absolutely delicious. Dad stayed loyal to his steak frites with au poivre sauce, which never disappoints. The cocktails were equally impressive. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner, a neighborhood favorite, or simply a great French meal on the Upper East Side, Jacques is well worth a visit. Dogba's verdict: Elegant outdoor dining, excellent people-watching, outstanding French food, and plenty of opportunities to politely stare at steak frites.

However, that's pretty much all I have good to say about this experience. There was so much pork on the list that my options were limited. I got the eggs with avocado and side salad. I asked for the potatoes but either they had gluten in them or there was a misunderstanding. I also got the hot tea. Unfortunately, this was the worst breakfast I've ever had. The eggs tasted like they put the uncooked chicken juice from the pack on top of it. They had the weirdest taste. One bite and I was done. The salad was bland. Tea was good, at least. At least it was in the vicinity of good breakfast spots.

My friend and I sat outside - highly recommend for people watching. There's seating on the first floor and some on the second floor. We got: - hot passion cocktail - ruby thistle cocktail: I thought I would enjoy this more. Not my favorite - escargot: it came with mini bread so we could scoop the pieces up and dip in the sauce - French dip: I was really excited for this but this was kind of disappointing. We chose salad as our side instead of fries. The meat seemed like slices of roast beef from a deli. I've had better French dip sandwiches. - beef bourguiguon: meat was pretty tender but kind of a small portion - affogato: I love affogato and this was solid but not the best - creme brûlée: this was pretty good!

Oysters - the oysters with the green sauce (I assume chimichurri) were the best and very delicious. I would choose those if you want something a little different that the regular raw oyster set-up. Assiette de Fromage - had one of the stinkiest cheeses I've ever had and I didn't hate it at all. Really lovely selection of fromages and loved the honey and nuts! Steak Tartare - there's capers in there, but just the perfect amount, in my opinion. In previous experiences its either all you can taste or they completely leave them out, so I appreciated this rendition. Pear Tart - daily special. A real standout. Definitely order this if you want something sweet. Aperol Spritz - more orange-y that other spritz I've had. Just so you know. Espresso Martini - the coffee in this is DARK!
