Great restaurant with slightly hipster modern vibes. Their menu featured modern presentations of traditional dishes. There were a few fusion plates as well, catered to the Spanish palate.
Tom yum kung: tasted pretty tame to my Asian American palate, but my Spanish family enjoyed it very much. Just enough exotic but not enough to be "errado" to a European unaccustomed to Asian flavors.
Cremosas croquetas de cecina: had a deliciously thick and creamy paste filling and perfectly evenly fried crunchy exterior. It was a winner among everyone.
Rabo de toro frito, glaseado con su salsa y puré de chirivías/Fried oxtails glazed with brown sauce and mashed parsnips: Wonderfully tender and beautifully presented. Just a bit of unexpected sweetness in the parsnip puré dressing the plate.
My husband ordered carrilleras de vaca del Guadarrama estofadas con puré de manzana y trigo salteado. (beef cheeks) He thought the dish was fine, but preferred my rabo de toro.
For dessert, I ordered tarta crujiente de tiramisú con compota de pera, which had an exterior cinnamon-tasting wafer wrapped around the dessert with sesame seeds. I was disappointed because i love tiramisu and there was no taste of espresso or mascarpone--just sesame, cinnamon and pear. As a dessert is was fine, light, fruity and refreshing, but throwing in the word tiramisu was misleading.
Overall the meal was satisfying. My Spanish family enjoyed their plates (I cant remember the other dishes as we ate there a month ago). read more
