Not the nicest or the cheapest, but highly entertaining. And it's a good day when you can get 18 in without getting nailed by a stray golf ball. An ex-military par 3 course, grew up and turned in to a 18 hole municipal golf course nested up against the airport. This place has alot going for it, a great layout, scenic holes, undulations on almost all greens, and some real interesting terrain. But at the end of the day, it's not a place I would come back to. 1. Being hit up/in to from all different angles by hackers multiple times. it's a real heart throbbed combined with the rumble of fighter jets taking off near by. 2. terrible sand bunkers. 3. slow greens. Very... This course got characters for days, from the friendly staff with their 2 fat range dog's, to the Smoked sausage and food lady that's been here for 30+ years. a new rule has just been established to where young adults 18 and younger can't play golf unless accompanied by an adult. although I do agree with this when it comes to younger kids. but when you're a member of high school golf team and I've been playing for four years I think it's unfair that we can go out there and go play. read more

The unequivocal last place to golf. Sometimes we play there because we don't have a tee time anywhere else and the green fees are really low. Guess what, they increased their green fees for this crab grass piece of manure they call a golf course. Oh yea, be sure to step over the fire ant beds and good luck finding your ball in the 3" cracks in the fairway because they don't water. All they want is your money. I had a hard luck injury after the first hole, and I tried to hit on the second hole and I couldn't even get off the tee box. Instead of further injuring myself, I went to ask for a rain check, and they just told me no. It wasn't like I was asking for my money back, it was just an injury that I could not continue to play. Fairways was fantastic, super fast. Putting greens Break was also fast and either Broke too much or not at all. Lots of golfers on-top of each other, some golfers drove into us and didn't have one ounce of etiquette and Marshall should be more visible. I like the course, and will play again but lots of big groups like 6 carts playing slows the course down. read more

If you haven't been here in the last year you will be pleasantly surprised. City has spent a lot of time and money to improve the course. Best greens in greater Houston. 120 plus trees removed. All water ways have been cut down allowing more open access. Multiple full time greens staff. Daily mowing, triming an maintenance. Useless water ponds have been removed and landscaping is new and continuing upgrades. Revamped club house. Driving range has been netted all around and balls are good. They are working on fairways. Staff is excellent, courteous and helpful. Fairly easy to get a tee time but it does get crowded. Sub 4 hour rounds are the norm. Course does not sell beer but you can bring your own. They are adding a small restaurant for burgers and such shortly. read more

I play here all the time. The course is in great shape. The only beef I have is that I am handicapped and the course doesn't provide a flagged handicap cart or provide handicap flags. When I asked if they provided handicap flags, I was told we don't provide them or honor them. This is really in violation of the Americans for Disabilities Act (ACA) which clearly says according to the law they should be provided if requested by the customer. Course finally re-opened on 8/24/20 after being shut down for months due to COVID. The course looked great. The fairways were a little thin, which let the ball run out quite a bit. The greens looked fantastic, however, they are still the slowest, smoothest greens i've played. They've taken a bunch of trees and added a water feature on 18 green which makes the finishing hole look much better than it did prior to the shutdown. The best thing about the course is the value. Can't beat it for the price you pay! The worst things about the course are: 1. All the greens are basically the same..slow turtle back greens that slope slightly from back to front, and 2. the routing has to be the worse I've seen. Some of the holes have very long gaps in between them. I was hoping they'd re-route the course to make more sense during the shutdown, but they didn't. read more

Beautiful course that seems to be poorly managed. The tires on my cart were flat so driving it around was a pain and that was the third cart I had selected. The first two were "clean" but had old cigars and trash in them. And they only offer 9-hole pricing after 3pm which is annoying to pay for 18 and not use it. Ok now this is the very first place I have ever swung the sticks (played golf...get your mind out of the gutter). I have been coming to this course called Ellington Field by many ever since I was at the young age of 5. My dad would take me with him while he and his father played a round. On hole 11 my dad always let me hit a few balls into the pond. In fact my grandfather still plays here twice a week. I can honestly say that I know this course like the back of my hand. This course is well kept for a public course with ALOT of water hazards. Water is in play on almost every hole. Wide open fairways, very large greens and very friendly staff make this golf course a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Make sure you nail the green because all greens are raised about 15-20 ft high. If you overshoot, you got a long chip shot to get back on. Cheap fees, especially during the twilight season. Thank you Jolyn for finding the prices for me. Great course for a great price...try it out. I strongly recommend playing during the Wings over Houston Airshow. Its great, but get used to loud noises in the middle of your back-swing. Its good for you, it makes you a better golfer. read more

Okay, first let me say that the course is not overly impressive, but the overall rating deserves 3 stars. The fairways are not mowed properly, but the greens are in good shape and the fairways and rough have grass, not hardpan dirt. The thing that impressed me the most was the fact that when I told they guy in the pro shop this was my first time playing the course he paired me up with a regular. Playing with someone who knows the course helps, since the layout is not all that easy to figure out if you haven't played there before. The round was enjoyable, but did take just a little over 4 hours to play. The guy I was paired with suggested that it does not normally play that slow, though. The course is not that difficult, but there's trouble to be found if you're not careful. There's water on quite a few holes and OB on a couple more. Overall, I was impressed with the course for the price. On a Sunday morning I paid $30 + tax for a round of golf with a cart. That's a pretty good deal. The only thing I would suggest on this course would be for them to mow the fairways better. read more

Want to congratulate the city of Pasadena for the outstanding upgrades to this golf course I'll rate it at a 4.6 out of 5. Very challenging golf course. The greens are running about 7.5 to 8.5 and the greens look beautiful the fairways are nicely cut the sand traps are nice, great job to all the maintenance crews. The staff at club house are great. Most drinks and snacks are $1.00 !!! Bring your cooler it's B.Y.O.B. The green fees are the best in a 30 mile radius. I just stated playing there in March and I love it! for $19.00 on a shared cart and green fee I'll be going for a good long while. read more

Economical course for the price and quality. The fairways are ok, the greens are green, no brown patches. Its really windy in on this course. The pace of play could be a lot better. There are individuals who cut in front and are a bit ghetto! Overall though a decent course to work on your game and of course there is the friendly slithering eco animal - watch where you step. Not one I will voluntarily go back to. Conditions are just okay. Layout is awful with the 14th hole on the other side of the property and then the 15th back on the other. Strange. Not much challenge. Bunkers aren't prepped. Slow greens. Good for a beginner, but what really makes me drop this a star is the price. For the price, I can go somewhere else for $10 more and get 5x the course plus 2 beers and lunch. Kind of a no brainer to go somewhere else. read more

The Marshall was very rude from the first hole and kept chasing us for No reason. The course is not well managed and not well labeled unless you can read the spray painted sign on asphalt. Personally I see this course is very good for beginners such as myself. If you are someone who is fairly decent at the game and looking to learn how to play an actual course it is kept well enough for us to do that. Very large fairways allow for an easy drive the par threes are just hard enough to keep us thinking. There are a lot of hazards if you are worried about hitting left and right shots something to be wary of. I do understand what all these other reviews are saying as far as the fairways not being well-kept. However I played in January and it was gets well enough for it being the wintertime. As for my experience, I played during the weekday $24 for all fees and 18 holes so it felt very much worth it. We did get lost once or twice because the layout is not very well explain. The directions to each hole is written with spray paint on the ground. Overall as a beginner this is definitely a four-star place to hone your skills read more

Played there a year ago and agree with the reviewers who say management is not very welcoming to outsiders. As for the layout, when the Air Force owned it, it was a great walking course. But to stop the walkers, they came up with this crazy layout that makes you drive hundred of yards to get to the next green, so you have to rent a cart. It is so stupid, people get lost and when you finish nine you can't buy a coke because you are in the middle of nowhere. Greens keeper does a good job and the ponds and birds are relaxing. But whoever appointed his brother-in-law to manage the course needs to be voted out of office because that boy has no idea how to manage a public golf course. read more

Alright, Pasa-get-down-dena!!! Let me give you some local knowledge on the course. If you are looking for a great course, head down the road. Pasadena is a great learning course with not the best conditions. Fairways are not treated and the greens are not the best. But it is a golf course and great for beginners. Also, on the turn there are great sausage dogs! Also the marshall is gone. The guy was a douche, but we always just laughed at him. Secret inside knowledge - (my friends will hate me for this). Go golfing here on the weekend of the air show. If you like that sort of thing. the course is right against elington field. There truly is nothing like drinking a beer and putting on hole 15 will an F22 raptor is doing its thang over head. Me and my friends go every year, not for the course but the experience. read more

Does have a driving range, which I why I stopped in, but the range cart does not have a cage. Whoch means you should call first before you arrive if you want to use the range. The range was closed for 30 minutes when I arrived because the helper started picking up range balls. And there is no chipping area. read more

Okay i have taken time out of my busy schedule to write this review based on 5 - 6 times i have played on this course. I am not complaining about the course itself, its okay for the price. However the Marshalls are freaking idiots who act like they are better than Timbercreek, go way out of their way to pair people up, and are total Douchebags. I am hispanic and i am getting the feeling that some of the caucasian people who play there may be somewhat racist, and do not respect other people while playing. The group behind us seemed like they were in a big hurry driving the ball and hitting while we were still playing the hole. We were on the green putting and had balls rolling up the green, Really? i finally told these idiots WTF is the rush we still have the group infront of us barely teeing off on the next whole regardless you dumbarses are going to have to wait. Another time again white/caucasian descent group behind us skipped us on the tenth hole on to the 11th hole because they didnt want to wait obviously. Only when we finsihed the 10th hole we drive up to the 11th hole and them idiots are waiting for the other group barely teeing off, so either way them dumbarses were still waiting but know we had to wait double. I have gotten into issues like this 4 out of the 6 times i have been there. Bleep these mofo white boys who think they own the course and have no golf ettiquette. I will take my money and spend it elsewhere, i rather spend 40$ or more than spend 27$ on a shitty course filled with Douchebags! read more

My husband has been playing there on occasion for years, mostly due to it being convenient on his way home from work. Have heard him complain over the pace of play and the lack of etiquette of players but everyone has been pretty friendly so it he has never really made a fuss about it only mentioning it to me. BUT today he said he write a review..."I was treated like a white trash thug AFTER my game this morning when inquiring about reserving the course for a fundraiser". "The man at the counter was rude, abrupt and after looking me up and down dismissed me like a homeless man begging for a handout!" Now my husband is 6'2" 240lbs, shift super working 7-12''s on nights, coming off a shift to get his usual round in for the week. He said the man saw him on the course...regardless not very businesslike. He won't be back and neither will the men he was with who were also appalled by the treatment and desperately wanted to go back in and say something to the man. read more

i was extremly disappointed with the service at pasadena municiple coarse. the 1st thing i have to say is the customer is always right and at this coarse if you are the customer you are their last concern.Not only when our group ask for a rain check , the lady up front threatened to call the cops on us,LOL can u believe that! Then she started calling other coarses right in front of us and telling them not to let us play on their coarse.What she didnt know is that the coarse she called we play regularly and when we showed up the guy their asked us if the lady was on drugs and he didnt know how they stayed in business over their. So i asked her for the owners number because she was clearly on drugs and the crazy lady gave me her number.Because when i called the number she answered the phone,yelled at me and hung up the phone! LOL is all i can say about this place.i would not recomend this golf coarse to anyone ever . Oh and by the way the marshall out their is something special let me tell you.
