Melrose

For the price this is a great place to hit the range, chip or putt. The greens are dry and not so green. The staff is friendly and everyone that plays here is friendly. Every Thursday there is a $20 tournament really fun and challenging.

Melrose Golf Course

This place is open 7 days a week from sunrise to sunset. Perfect par 3 course for short game practice. It's a hidden Gem!

3 years ago I started playing at melrose golf course this was the course that introduced me to my golf addiction. It does have its rough edges as any course does but melrose has such welcoming atmosphere. This place has dialed inn my 150 yard inn shots and chipping around the greens is my strongest suit thanks to melrose. This is a great spot for anyone just getting into golf as well as someone wanting to attack pins on other courses from approach range. Kid and dog friendly and the best part is BYOB. Management just fixed the irrigation system so greens should be rolling pure in the next coming weeks. 10 stars highly recommend this place!!!

Carts for rent

Not crowded. Very reasonable green fees. Good place to improve your short game. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. A "basic" no frills golf course, as they used to be.

It's Nov 2019 and the Par 3 course is still open. This was something I wasn't sure about when I wanted to check this place out with friends. I called two days in a row multiple times but no one picked up. Turns out it's because the guys running it are outside playing, too. Price is cheap, and it's cash only. $12/pp and an additional $3 for a pull cart for your clubs which I recommend. The grass is very coarse and the "green" around the flag is just grass and sand half of the time. Expect: very very low traffic coming through, ant mounds everywhere you step, dog shit everywhere (the owners have about 4 dogs on the premise that run around but they're very tame). This is good for beginners only and if you haven't gone to many golf clubs. If you are an avid golfer and have been to regular clubs, this place might disgust you. Only come here if you're looking to f- around and not play a real game. Gave it 2 stars for ease of course and price.

This is the absolute worst golf course in the history of golf courses. No golf carts either.

Ask the Community - Melrose Golf Club

Do they rent out carts?

I don't recall any motorized carts. They do rent push/pull carts. The course isn't that expansive so a motorized cart isn't necessary. This course is a rough gem in need of some city funds to polish it up, which could then justify slightly higher… Read more

Do you provide the option to rent golf clubs?

Does any one know if this is still open? My boyfriend is a pretty good player but he wants to teach me and I just don't want to be embarrassed when I'm learning to play somewhere big

Had a great time even though the weather dampened the experience a little as it was a very cold day ~45 degrees. It was fine if you were on the courts but once still the sitting area had coverings that blocked the warmth of the sun. After pickleball we decided to got eat inside to get away from the cold. Food wise, apps were small portions. Small basket of chips and smaller cup of guac and queso than most places but with a heftier price. Chicken sandwich was good, but spicy is not at all spicy and the sauces we asked for on the side to give more heat didn't give any. You definitely have to be one of those people who think black pepper is overly too spicy. Kettle chips came with a lot of people sides and they tasted burnt, one friend looked like he was served the bottom of a lay's bag as the other friend had fresh off the top. Presentation lacking. I got the corn in a cup and I'd have to say it was pretty delicious. Half way through our meal as we were sitting near the garage doors they decided to open them and bring all that 40 degree cold weather in, now we are sitting trying to eat trembling with our coats on because they said they had a singer about to perform. About to them means 45 minutes later when we are closing out our checks. I mean they could have waited till they were ready or people who wanted to hear could have went outside or even if you just cracked the garage door a little or bring some heaters without having to ask multiple times to get one. You check in upstairs and go through a brief tutorial. The technology tracks each stroke so you don't have to keep score and it's more difficult to cheat. You can also play the holes out of order if there's a big group in front of you. Each hole has a difficult obstacle that earns your bonus points. It's nice to be inside especially during the Houston summer. The game goes fairly quickly. The game play is accessible for a wide variety from family fun to corporate group outings to date night. Overall it's a fun concept with decent food. Downtown parking might be tricky. Apparently they validate parking so maybe it's not so bad.

We loved all the challenging holes. The decor was colorful. The food was amazing! I loved the Texas Tailpipes, Korean BBQ Bao Buns, and Atlanta Hot Sandwich. I will say the table reservation was interesting. They have a lot of tables labeled reserved but no one is sitting there. I tried to ask a waitress about my table and said you have to reserve one and ran away. She didn't even let me finish my sentence. I asked another waitress and she listened to me and found my reservation and apologized for the other waitress' behavior. The manager did come by to give us some great service so we ended the night on a good note.

When we approached the desk, we were told we'd get a text when our section was ready. At 4:15pm, I had my friend go back to the desk and that's when they sent us up, never acknowledging that we never received a text message. When we settled in, our waitress came over with some menus and walked us through the process. She made sure to let us know our time had already begun, despite the fact that we were waiting downstairs for the text message to give us the green light to head up. Despite all that, we had a great time and played several games. Definitely can't wait to go back!

Service was great until you order food. The food takes forever to come. Waitress tries to be accommodating but in the end it's not their fault, the kitchen needs to get their act together. Booked 2 bays and supposed to come with a 100$ free food credit, until you get there and they say the promo on their Site was a mistake and they tried to get corporate to fix it, only when you threat that it's false advertising they get the manager to explain the situation. Manager was accommodating and honored the advertised promo originally booked. Corporate needs to proof read their website before posting it. The bay we were in was like built for a 3rd world country. Floors sticky, couches feel like they havent been deep cleaned since the place opened. When you wave your club for the ball to come out, it rolls around the base to the next bay. The tee was like a worn down straw that's been there since opening, never replaced. Had to balance my golf ball like playing a balancing act. The last food order my group was waiting on didn't come untill our playtime was up. The Manager gave us free 15 minutes to basically stuff ourselves or pack it to go. We even specifically told them to pack it to go since we knew it was not going to be enough time to eat. We placed our order about 20 minutes prior. This probably the worst top golf I've been to in the nation, they really gotta get their act together. Security in the parking lot patroling, guess thats good to deter car break ins, but that also gives you a hint how the hood is.
