I needed new spinning shoes and discovered that Dick's Sporting Goods stopped selling them! So I looked this place on Yelp and gave them a call. The lady I talked to said that they indeed had spin shoes but I'd have to come in and show her what kind of spinning clips I needed. I drove here and parked. The lady was there and measured my feet. In all my years, she was the first person to tell me my right foot was a half size bigger than my left. I had a pair of 38 spinning shoes that hurt my foot, but had no idea my right foot was a 39! Overall strange experience. I purchased a Trek Portland bicycle on consignment for $350, I placed it on hold and would return with my rack to bring it home. They call me moments later to tell me I was misquoted and the bike was actually $499, but they would honor the misquote. When I pick up the bike, the left side brake line is ZIP-TIED to the frame, there is no kickstand, missing hex bolts (to fix a bottle cage to frame), and worn-down brake pads. I decided to leave with the bike and never return. I took the bike into the real world and the brakes locked up while riding, which is incredibly dangerous and problematic. So I return and they said they would replace the brakes at no cost but would have to charge me $50 flat for labor. I agreed and wanted this whole thing to be over. I finally pick up the bike almost a week later to the staff of the shop chatting at work and ignoring me at the service station. A random woman standing near the counter spins around and engages me. She asks for my name and disappears into the back of the store. I wait for five minutes and another employee comes by and asks if I've been helped. I say someone asked for my name and left and he says "okay" then walks away. At last I get my bike and they tell me how much money they're losing on this bike but they'll honor the $50 I was quoted, even though they had to put so much time into the brake repair. This shop is strange, overpriced, and you're better off finding another shop. In Los Angeles lord knows there's a better bike shop around the corner. read more

Patient, serious, engaged. I've bought two bikes from Pasadena Cyclery, and found the experience positive both times. They were willing to spend as much time as needed for me to discuss options, test ride, test ride elsewhere, without being pushy or dismissive. The store manager, Matt, works hard to stay competitive, and they carry a good stock of accessories. The mechanics have been backlogged sometimes during the pandemic, but hopefully that's getting better, and the work is always done reliably, in my experience. We're lucky in Pasadena to have several excellent bicycle stores, but the biggest isn't always the best! Especially if you're interested in Trek for road bikes, Pasadena Cyclery is well worth checking. read more

My wife and I drove here from Riverside to look at Brompton folding bikes. We were pleasantly surprised to discover they had a nice selection of both regular and electric Bromptons. We were able to test ride both. Daniel, the associate who helped us was very patient and knowledgeable. We bought an electric and a standard, both are beautiful and well made and will work well traveling in our Sprinter van. I bought a $600 commuter bike here 4 years ago, so that I could do some local rides with my kids, and take the occasional train ride up or down the coast and bike home with my dad. I'm a big guy-- 240# and 6'3"-- and with kids, a mortgage, and a 70 hour work week, I don't don the Spandex uniform and get in weekday morning fights with crossing guards near schools. I've had occasion to shop here for different items-- saddle bags, a kid trailer, new pedals... Selection is always limited, but I've more or less found something that will work well. I always spend more here than I planned when I pulled into the parking lot, but that's just part of the deal with small shops. The guys are much cooler than me there, but usually cordial. No one has dazzled me with customer service, but it's been plenty worse at other places. The service "department" is a small corner of the store, there is generally a multi-day wait, and it isn't a deal. I got my bike serviced here two years ago-- paid $80 for a lube and adjust, and I really couldn't tell the difference from when I brought it in. Maybe it's because I'm just a local go-nowhere-interesting leisurely street biking Dena guy, and while my buck knife handle and my custom orthotics may be carbon fiber, my bike sure isn't. I like this place better than the Rabbit museum guy on the other side of town, so maybe that's something. read more

I have gone to many bike shops, and I will state that this is a great bike shop. 1. The sales person was very knowledgeable and polite. He was not demeaning and did not talk down to use (we be ladies). I know a LOT about bikes, so my homie brought me along. I agreed with everything he said, and he was great. 2. Good selection of bikes - I am a big fan of the Trek brand, so that is a big bonus point 3. Great support for customers that buy from them. THREE years of free tune ups? Yeah! And lots of other support and warranties and information. So if you live in the area, always great to have a supportive local bike shop to go to. 4. Cute selection of stock. Yes, this isn't a huge store but they had everything a cyclist could need. 5. Supportive group rides, including a woman's ride 6. Fair prices. Are they the cheapest in town? No. This ain't Performance Bike (Which I DO love, but for different reasons). They sell a good product at a very fair price, and they support whatever they sell you. They were informative, polite, and not pushy. My friend ended up going back and buying a bike from them, which speaks volumes in my book. read more

Looked into putting a new hub and wheel, but after it was on felt the old one was still ok. They could have easily told me it was needed and I wouldn't have known. I came here with my new to me Specialized Allez to get some pedals installed since I couldn't pull my old ones off, these guys charged 4 dollars! I was so excited by their fair pricing, quick work and excellent service that I decided to pick up an LED light for the front, the service tech advised me that I needed a new chain and I went ahead and had them do that as well. Would never go back nor would ever recommend this establishment to anyone. First off, they tell you one thing and charge you another. There's no work order that you can sign with the breakdown of what is being charged. $166 later... for a tire replacement for 2 wheels??? That is absurd. $55 for each tire, the. 8 for each tube, then $20 for installation... the you had to wait because they could not find your work order... and then they brought out just the tires without the wheel and insisted that that's what the work order was. This was my first and probably the last time I'll be in that store! read more

I'm not big on negative reviews. But I needed a part for my mountain bike and they carry my brand which is not very common. After calling to see about them ordering a part for me so I went in and spoke with someone from the service department who immediately helped me and looked up the part. This was a Saturday, I was told they would call the manufacturer on that following Monday and call me back. I still had not heard from them on Wednesday so I called them back. I was told they were waiting for a call back from the manufacturer. So on Thursday I called directly to the manufacturer and was able to speak to someone with in about 2 minutes, who sent me out the part I needed immediately. It's now been 9 days from the first day I went in and I still have not heard back from them. It was obvious to me they did not call to order the part when I called them that Wednesday. It is disappointing to me because they are the shop that is close to me that carries my brand. So because of that I am going to have to go to another ship which is not nearly as close geographically... I'm just not sure if my interaction with them is standard but it's all I can base my experience off of. read more

We went in on a Saturday to find a bike that suited a short woman like me. They were incredibly polite and conscious of social distancing. They ask you to sanitize your hands upon entry. The employee that helped me on Saturday recommended a bike however it wasn't built and was in the back. I asked if he could show me anything about it. I ultimately had to look it up myself on my phone in the store. I was a little irked that he sat there staring at me while trying to make a decision on this bike I haven't even seen. I could hear the other employees whisper to each other to each other trying to figure out what to do with me since there was a growing line outside. I understand they wanted to allow only a few people in at a time. I commend their commitment to social distancing. However, they could have made a sale that day if I was treated like a paying customer. I felt rushed and decided to leave. After doing my own research, I ultimately purchased the bike a couple of days later online and it suited all my needs. They are knowledgeable, but could work on the customer service. read more

Service went downhill once covid hit, seemed kind of silly to charge you a covid bike cleaning fee before they will service one's bike, believe I paid $30 for this. Service was disappointing overall for me, my bikes were in there many times. The staff overall is good, the problem is the owner. Best service I've experienced in awhile. I went in for a break adjustment on a vintage bike that I know nothing about and Rick was an absolute gem. Not only did he help me with the new bike adjustments but also answered all my questions and gave me good advice on how to ride it and what to replace if needed. I was warmly welcomed upon arrival with safe social distance practicing, and everyone was helpful and friendly. Nice to not feel awkward when you're fairly new to the bike world. I have an old folding e-bike from a company that went out of business ages ago. It's been a great bike except for the kickstand which has been weird for a years. I've been able to get by without using it during that period, but I recently decided that I really needed it replaced or repaired so that it wouldn't be so prone to falling when propped up in less than ideal circumstances. I called first and discussed the kickstand issue with Eddie who told me that they'd have to see it to know what they could do. I wasn't too hopeful that a repair or replacement would be possible (which is why I had put it off for so long). But Rich in the service department fixed it in a wink and when I asked him what I owed him he said, "Oh no charge, of course." Great service! I'll return when I have a problem that he can charge me for. read more

Have been to this business a lot. Bike repair, seeking a new bike. This is the deal here. When getting serviced you get ignored or have to deal a bike mechanic from likely PCC that can't open a bank account yet, or you get the manager who seems like an accountant that now runs a bike shop. This was the guy who I spoke with on the phone regarding buying a new bike, no I'm not getting any in. Then a few days later I see a young woman pushing the bike I wanted to order brand new out the door, her saying she ordered through them a month ago. Why am I writing this? The manager never even forwarded that he could order one for me?! It's cool, I only went there for emergency bike supplies anyway, and I'm happy to buy the bike through another dealer.
