Dare I say this is the best coffee in town? Yes, yes I dare! It's so rare to find a coffee joint that can serve up a slammin' cup of joe AND have personable staff that knows their black gold PLUS willing talk the day away with the public. Parlor is warm and welcoming, so different compared to many of the other coffee shops I've went to in my life. I cannot get enough of the impeccable service, fresh coffee, and simple yet cool layout. If I lived any closer I would be getting my daily caffeine boost here, and possibly overdoing it because I will not be able to stay away. Thank you, Ford and thank you, Parlor Coffee, don't ever change your sweet ways!

My friend works in the Navy Yard, but only on week days. Parlor Coffee is only open Sundays. Confused? Don't be. Parlor Coffee sells their beans to restaurants, cafes, etc, so they roast and brew all week, and on Sundays, they can open to the public to taste coffee. Is it a coffee shop? Maybe not. Think of it as a brewery - you come to see how it's made, meet the brewers, and learn how to taste. Tasting is called "Cupping". You, and a few other people who have stopped in, get to smell the ground beans. Chocolaty, earthy...one smelled almost like a tomato! They then pour hot water over the grounds, and let it simmer. You can smell different notes while you wait. I won't divulge all their secrets, but it's like a wine tasting. And it's free! You can order coffee to drink if you want, ands it at the bar and sip. Delicious. The staff was hospitable, open, and awesome. They clearly care about their product and are excited to share it with the public. Rumor has it they're trying to open to the public Mondays as well. Can't wait to see what happens!! And I hope to see you guys in Boston :)

Entrance. Check out the free cuppings every Sunday at 3.

My new favorite roaster. And 100% local! Unlike other albeit great roasters like Blue Bottle, Stumptown, Toby's, etc who roast in NY but are based elsewhere. Where to find Parlor around town? Bluebird East Village is 100% Parlor now, Box Kite East Village rotates Parlor, Culture Espresso Midtown rotates too, plus of course the 100% Parlor pop-up in that Williamsburg barbershop on Havemeyer. Every Sunday at 3 they do free cuppings. If you're lucky they usually roast the same day. Aaron leads the sessions while Dylan the owner leads the roasting and pops over often to chat. Love the uniform of comrade-esque green khaki jackets and woolen hats! Sure this place is in the middle of nowhere. But it's worth coming to chat, taste, support a great local business and maybe take home a few bags.

What a gem. From what I can tell, it's primarily a roasting location that they're kind enough to open to the public for four hours on Sundays (with a cupping tutorial in the last hour). They really value their coffee beans and their subtle flavors. Because of that, they only serve their coffee black. Don't expect to find sugar or cream/milk here (you can get your coffee to go, though). No cold brew, either. And I admire and respect them for that. Much like an artist, they're not catering to the wider public. Rather, they are here to do what they do, for people who truly love coffee. It sounds snobby, but they're not that way at all. The coffee they serve you is poured over in a Chemex, although they do sell Aeropresses and other brewing accessories and machinery). You can also buy bags of their whole beans as well. In terms of seating, if you're not here around 3-4 (their cupping time), you can sit at the bar. They also have a little seating space at the front of the store.

Exquisite coffee and a interesting decor. Happened to be there while a tasting and educational sit down was happening at the bar.

The cold brew also has a very subtle hint of dark chocolate which compliments the body of the coffee so well.

Small shop, great service, excellent drinks, & tasty treats!…read more Of the two drinks, the black sesame latte was by far one of the best lattes I've had in a while (granted I have had a latte in a while...). If texture doesn't bother you (liberal amount of black sesame!), I'd suggest getting this latte (10/10). Both pastries were great in their own right. For my second matcha of the day, this matcha was like your everyday/average matcha. Can't go wrong, but it wasn't mind-blowing. If you're in the Theatre District, I'd definitely recommend popping in for a drink & a treat!

I had seen their cute pastries online and wanted to check them out. We got the items above and a few coffees. The cakes are cute. Tho not as light and fluffy as I was expecting. I thought they'd be more like the asian bakeries we have back in SF. Not as sweet as american desserts, but it was kinda in between. The egg sandwich I really wanted to like since I've been craving one. But the it was sooo dry. Definitely needed more mayo. And the bread wasn't very fluffy either. Cute spot if you want cute desserts. Tho I think they are more geared towards posting on socials. REVIEW #3999

RATING: 4.5/5 | Came on a Saturday late afternoon and it was busy! The line moves, thankfully. It's…read morerelatively spacious for a cafe, but there's minimal seating. There is some counter space, but mainly for standing purposes. I ordered a standard Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk ($7.35) and my friend got her usual Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte ($8). Docking 1/2 point bc the matcha is pre-made. I'm a fan of the whisking process bc I do believe there's a craft to matcha overall. Surprisingly, my drink tasted fine and my bev was a good color, so I was pleasantly happy. We waited less than 10 min for a table to open up, but you have to be there at the right time, otherwise you prob just grab your drink + go. Overall, glad I tried Kijitora. It's not my first matcha choice, but it was decent for a standard matcha latte. Their specialty matcha drinks look to have mixed reviews, but I'm personally not a fan of sweet drinks.

The tote bags were so cute but they were kind of pricey in my opinion. A standard beige Kijitora bag was priced for $30 each! They had several designs for sale. I was just busy checking out the cool cat merchandise while I was waiting in the long line to purchase the matcha drinks. The line was exceptionally long! It was worth the hype though! When I was my turn, I got an iced strawberry matcha latte and an iced mango matcha latte. It was so pretty when I got them. The mango and strawberry paste were sitting at the bottom of the matcha latte. I had to stir and mix the fruits with the whole drink. Surprisingly it was not sweet at all and was just right! They made it in a way that wanted you to crave more of it. It was very addicting. I did not get onigiris this time but will be sure to get some next time I'm here. They were just $4 each for miso salmon, tuna mayo, mentaiko cod roe, sukiyaki beef, and chashu pork. What a decent price for one onigiri! I would definitely be sure to get the miso salmon next time I'm here. The place was very cute with nice little tables for individuals. The place was very cozy with lots of sunlight coming in. Very modern with plants all around. It was so loud with people talking over each other. There were too many people on a Sunday afternoon so I had to walk around or cut through people to get my way. It was that crowded. I also didn't expect this place to be on the second floor and the stairs to be that steep. It was hectic carrying my stroller upstairs. Luckily someone helped me get down! The stairs are very narrow so I had to hold onto the rail. It was not ergonomically friendly at all.
