Preface: my visit was from 9am - 11am on a Sunday morning. But regardless of the "early" time, I found this to be the quietest coffee shop I have ever visited. While that may be appealing to some, I found it almost eery. I felt like I was getting glared at every time I shifted in my seat (from the other customers, not the staff). And when I received a phone call, I felt as if I had to step outside just to answer it. With that said, I typically enjoy a more lively atmosphere. But the staff was friendly and took my order quickly. The prices and the coffee are average to me. There is a small boutique shop attached to the coffee shop, but it felt confusing - is it a cafe? A shop? - there wasn't much synergy between the two sides of the business. The atmosphere felt modern and industrial. There was free wi-fi. Few seats available. I wouldn't recommend if you are meeting a friend for coffee, or if you want to sit somewhere for more than 30 minutes.

The chocolate croissants and the charcoal vanilla latte with (oat milk) is literally life. So happy for these new spring options so so good. The vibes here are cute and the staff is diverse and hipster which I personally love.

Good coffee, great music, good barista. The cafe is part of a store that sells amazing women apparel and unique pieces. I think the ambience is one of the most unique experiences. Do try.

Good strong coffee but don't expect to get a smile. Very cold service. More Akeem to standoffish.

Really cool, clean, and bright shop. When I was there had a really groovy track playing and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

The burger was fresh, juicy, and not greasy at all just really well made. The tater tots were crispy and delicious without feeling oily, which I really appreciated. And I gotta say, the bartender is doing work. He's the only one working and the whole place is filled up and he manages it very well. They have food and drinks, mocktails included. I love it here. It's very cozy and homey. But just remember to be courteous, that this is a business so it's okay to do work here but if you're gonna be chilling for a while make sure you're getting some drinks every hour or tipping the 'tender. Also careful with some of the hot drinks they can be really.... hot. I burnt the roof of my tongue on my hot cider drink.

The butter croissant is truly the perfect example of a well done croissant. Light, buttery, crispy, and flaky. Every bite was fantastic. My next favorite is the black sesame pinwheel. Everything I love about a croissant except now with black sesame cream, which was sooo rich, luscious and not too sweet! The blueberry danish was a summer special, layered with fresh and sweet blueberries. The pistachio pain suisse was filled with nutty pistachio and the layers were super crispy and covered with syrup. This pastry is on the heavier end. Lastly, the matcha danish is the one I was most excited to try as a matcha lover. I was a little thrown off by the layer of chocolate beneath the matcha. But as I continued to eat it, the matcha ended up overpowering it, which is a plus to me! Staff here are friendly and always ready to recommend goods or to chat about your day. Paloma has a solid roster of pastries and they always have seasonal offerings too.

It provides the perfect setting for Barzakh Cafe, a social club/gathering spot of sorts for the pan-Maghreb community across New York. We came for the couscous celebration on July 4th. The owner is Mauritanian, and the couscous reminded me of the ones I've eaten in the northern reaches of Senegal, with tender potatoes, carrots, and cabbage. I had been hoping for something closer to kosksi, but the dish was enjoyable nonetheless. We sat outside in the casually-laid out backyard while hearing songs blending French and Maghrebian Arabic emanating from inside. Barzakh also hosts events from outside the region, including qawwali nights and the like. It is a rare unique space in the neighborhood.
