Stopped by for a coffee and sweet treat. All their donuts look so good and are actually delicious! I tried their Nutella croissant this time and it was delicious. Service was quick and efficient. Lots of seating.

I tried their mochi donuts before and it was a hot day so we came in to grabbed some drinks. There are so many pretty desserts and yummy looking pastries but we were full so we only ordered drinks. The place is quite busy but does have a lot of seating available. We ordered mango smoothie and matcha frappe. My matcha frappe was ok but the mango slush was really too sweet. We couldn't finish the mango slush.

Amazing pastries! Wanted to try salt bread and they had it! The savory items , pepperoni pizza croissant and the curry bun were my favorite!!

Does it seem like Metro Vancouver is being taken over by pizzerias, coffee shops & bakeries? Well it is! LOL. Just what I need in my life - more sugar & calories. Paris Baguette is opening up & expanding in Washington State (Alderwood Mall in Lynwood - first location now open) & up here in Metro Vancouver & already has locations across Canada. South Korean domination rolling ahead full steam & now here in town. PG has some serious competition ahead of it. There are plenty of heavy hitters already established here in Metro Vancouver when it comes to bakeries. See my reviews, as I've covered dozens of local bakeries. It's going to take a few visits to PG to decide if it's legit. Seriously, how many pastries & coffees could one eat in one sitting to decide a ranking!? However, for now based on hype & presentation - so far so good. Located downtown, on the fabulous 'Rodeo Drive' of Vancouver - Alberni St, PG has chosen to obviously come in via a big splash on this very expensive street known for its top designer wear & diamond stores. A second location is now open as well in Coquitlam. When Korean & French flavour meet head on, what could go wrong!? Stay tuned.

The savory and sweet pastries I tried were all delightful! It's a bit on the pricier side of pastries, but worth it. -The crab croquette was a solid 5/5. -Strawberry mochi donut 5/5. I just kept wanting to eat more of this one. - the raspberry cream filled croissant was a 4/5. I really liked the raspberry jam,m flavor, but after a while it got a bit too sweet. - the bag of garlic mini croissants 5/5. It had a sweet glaze on top of it, which I think was honey. It added a nice surprise to the garlic flavor. - strawberry cream cake 5/5. I thought this version of a strawberry chiffon cake was well balanced in sweetness and amount of cream to chiffon cake ratio

Huge selection of French and Korean pastries. It's self-serve style where you grab a tray and pick out the pastries you want with tongs. There's a good amount of seating here and it wasn't too busy on Sunday morning. The two baristas/cashiers were both very friendly. I got the sweet potato bread and a blueberry lavender matcha. I really liked the sweet potato bread - the sweet potato filling was so smooth it was creamy, and the bread was soft and lightly sweet. The sesame seed garnish was sparse. As for the blueberry lavender matcha, the matcha itself was not good. The barista warned me that it would be very sweet and was from a powder mix so they couldn't adjust it, but that still didn't adequately prepare me for how sweet it was. Really sweet and very little actual matcha, which I did expect from looking at pictures, but it was even more extreme than I was expecting. However, the blueberry lavender milk was actually really good and LESS sweet than the matcha, which was enough to redeem the drink. I would definitely not recommend a plain matcha latte here, but the limited edition fruity ones might be worth a try if you just want the fruity milk and don't care about the matcha. The extended hours every day of the week are definitely a plus.

Expectations exceeded with the turkey cranberry croissant! Grab one to go and asked for it warmed up. It's a wonderful blend of textures and all the ingredients are so fresh and flavorful! The pastries were neatly wrapped and arranged, some individually wrapped. Visually attractive without being over the top, and familiar. Lots of fresh pastries like cream filled croissants and danishes, as well as yummy sandwiches and savoury pastries in the cooler. Came during grand opening day at 8:30am and there was pleasantly no lineup having opened at 6am. The inside was beginning to fill up with people by the time I picked my pastries and checked out. But I appreciated how friendly and polite the staff were by greeting customers and keeping the place orderly. Everyone knew what their role was to help for the first day and customers knew where to go. Definitely adding this on my place to bring people for early morning grab and go breakfast or a snack midday. They open 6am to 11pm which is a rarity for Vancouver.

Finally got around to trying Paris Baguette and I'm so glad I did,! Tried the Strawberry Cream Bread, Fruit Danish, Sweet Potato Bread, and Mochi Donut. Loved the consistency of the mochi donuts and the sweet potato bread was super soft! Would come again and having a loyalty program with rewards helps with that for sure

Great variety of baked goods and great price. I reccomend downloading their app to collect points and get special coupons and deals. Their cup sizes are larger than the average so a Medium iced americano was really worth the price. I've tried a variety of pastries here and everything here hit the spot and doesn't break the bank. However, it's always crowded so don't expect to find seating easily. They do need to come up with a better pick up system for drinks though instead of randomly shouting out the drink names, can be extemely confusing for customers. Place is crowded since it's a bit of a tourist trap

i stopped by this buzz worthy korean-french bakery at 1150 alberni street on saturday at 2:45 pm, eager to check out their soft launch just in time for the christmas holidays. situated in a high end, luxury retail neighbourhood, the bakery has been highly anticipated, so i was pleasantly surprised to find the wait relatively short. every seat inside was occupied, and the atmosphere was lively as customers browsed the self-serve displays of pastries, breads, donuts, and cakes. the setup feels like a blend of a chic café and a boutique bakery. with trays and tongs in hand, you can explore an eye catching assortment of baked goods before heading to the counter to order drinks or whole cakes, and pay for your treats. the displays are thoughtfully arranged, giving the space a polished yet approachable vibe (though self-serve setups always raise some hygiene questions for me). here's what i brought home: strawberry lemon cream croissant ($3.40): small, light, and filled with a zesty lemon custard, but it lacked the buttery crispness and flaky layers of an exceptional croissant. raspberry almond croissant ($6.69): the raspberry filling was generous but overly sweet, and the texture didn't quite have the delicate flakiness i was hoping for. coffee danish ($5.49): the coffee flavour was subtle, but the danish fell short on delivering the crisp, airy texture and rich butter that makes this pastry a favourite. strawberry mochi donut ($4.79): the chewy texture stood out, but the icing leaned a tad bit too sweet for my taste. the cakes on display, however, were show stopping, almost too stunning to eat. they alone might warrant another visit to explore more of the menu. while the pastries didn't wow me, the experience of visiting this vibrant bakery was still enjoyable. if you're in the area and curious about korean-french baked goods, it's worth stopping by to see what all the buzz is about and form your own opinion.

This long anticipated of Paris Baguette Bakery Café in downtown finally had its soft opening on Dec 21. It's a 2nd location after Coquitlam. I checked it out after dinner on the next day. This Korean French bakery is all over in Korea. We're lucky to have it in town. It had a pretty good vibe with the blue and white decor from the entrance leading you to the varieties of pastries on the left and the cafe seating area on the right. It was after 9pm so the place was not as busy as the daytime. They open from 6am to 11pm during the holiday season at least. Hours may change later. Their pastries are so appealing to the eyes. You can easily want to get one of each. After some tough decision making, I picked 4: - Almond Pain du Chocolat - Almond Pastry - Pineapple Brulee Pantry - Peppermint Mochi Donut They are tasting great on the first day and even overnight in the fridge. You could microwave it a bit also. The pastry is very buttery. But among the 3 pastries I got, they have different level of buttery taste and different density. I liked the pineapple one the best, then the almond ones and the peppermint mochi donut. Don't get me wrong. The mochi donut had the soft chewy texture I like. The peppermint icing was on point. None of the pastries were too sweet. I could taste the distinct flavour of the pineapple, the chocolate, the peppermint and the butter on every bite. You will notice that they are not greasy at all. They also have sandwiches, savory pastries and packaged salad. Their handcrafted cakes are really amazing for special occasions or just a craving for the sweet tooth. They have raspberry jam and apricot jam in a jar as well as chocolate bars. Pound cakes are also available. Gotta try them next time. They have different drinks such as hot chocolate. It would be nice to enjoy their pastry with a drink at their cafe. Thr pricing is a bit on the higher end, but you gotta appreciate the calories label for each item. The service was also nice. They handled each piece of the pastry with care while packing them for you.

An amazing selection of bakery treats, mainly sweet, but some savory. The two that we sampled were high-quality and delicious. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high-end location. Must return to try more! Big spacious dining area with washroom, with a bit of a fast food ambience.

Gamers, movie, cartoon and anime fans alert, you're gonna love this cake designer. Bad Ass Cakes is based in Vancouver, BC. Their Facebook page says their location is in North Vancouver, but their location is actually in the central Vancouver area which is convenient and accessible to everyone. The page is www.facebook.com/forBadAssPeople. I'm a total gamer and anime geek at heart and was excited by what I saw. The creator designs cakes and cookies with themes like League of Legends, Sailor Moon, Iron Man, Star Wars, MineCraft, Portal, etc. He does fashion and regular custom cakes too for weddings and birthdays, and cakes at EXP Restaurant + Bar (another favorite venue of mine). When my gf unveiled the cake at her birthday dinner, all the guests (and myself) were really surprised at how gorgeous the cake and cookies were. The designer made a pink Chibi Moon vanilla cake with pink icing inside, and the exterior was made with fondant. It was high quality tasting fondant, and tasted like a delicious marshmallowy flavor. The fondant was not overly sweet (which other bakeries tend to do) so it paired very nicely with the cake. The cookies were super cute, they were shortbread cookies that were chewy and soft, and the icing was also not overly sweet. Everything tasted good and I highly recommend Bad Ass Cakes, especially to those who love games, anime and movies if you're looking for that extra special custom cake! I want one too now. The photos below are hers, since mine came out too blurry with my crappy phone cam. I received permission to use her photos for my review. I was there physically at the party.

My cousin recently had Cory from HEY! CAKE THIS! Make a cake for her and below is what she said:…read more YEY!!! I found my forever cake designer and maker for all my family celebrations! I wasn't going to write any reviews because I just don't want to spend time doing it. But when I showed pictures of the cake Cory created for my daughter to my family and friends, I knew I had to write one. I was also reminded by my cousin and sisters about that rip off cake I received last year for my son. The cake we all called the Photocopy cake ( see review for Yummy Yonnie Cakes) But first, let me tell you about CORY'S cakes from HEY CAKE THIS! Cory does not limit the style, colour, theme, flavour, filling or size of the cake. He gives his clients free range. But keep in mind, price will obviously go up the more elaborate your imagination. If you can imagine it. He will create it! I reached out to Cory to get an idea of how much a Poppy cake would be and I even sent a picture I found online to him for reference. I told him to put many flowers and make the cake pink. I wanted strawberry filling, with fresh strawberries and a vanilla cake. Boy did he deliver! The cake I received exceeded my expectations. Everything on that cake was fondant. He cut out all the flowers, the letterings, the number, AND the star of the cake.... POPPY! He made a 2D Poppy! Nothing on that cake was a photocopy image stuck onto sugar paper. Look carefully at Poppy. Her dress, the eyes and mouth. So much details. Cory handprinted some of the details on her too. I commented on his Poppy and how I appreciated him not doing a photocopy image. He told me if the image is not complex he will do all it all freehand. I only gave I'm a week and a half for this cake too! Due to the pandemic, Cory offered free delivery. He wanted to make sure his cake was in the best condition for his clients. Cory is also very considerate. When he arrived, he actually took out a fold up table to place his cake on. He did not want to put the cake on the floor or ground where it could pick up germs. After he put it on the table, he stepped back (social distancing) so that I could take it. The box the cake came in was GOLD with a pink ribbon to complete the look. Did you know he actually MAKES all his boxes the cakes go into? No cheap see through cellophane. But a nice gold colour cardstock box. This is better because if the cake was to be a surprise , the box will definitely keep the cake hidden. My kids recycled the box and make gold cut out starts and crowns for their dolls. Cory is definitely a master cake creator. He will not disappoint. The communication between him and I for the cake was awesome. Before he went ahead with anything he was unsure of, he reached out to me. He wanted to make sure his suggestions was something I would also like. Vancouver is fortunate to have their own 'Duff Goldman'. I regret not having found him sooner to make my cakes. The Photocopy cake was an expensive lesson. Don't go to a place that limits you or brush your feedback off. GO TO CORY from HEY CAKE THIS! You won't be disappointed! I look forward to my two other cakes in the next few weeks! I will post it here as well for everyone to see. His work speaks for itself. All his reviews are excellent. Nothing less than 5 stars. I wish I can give him 10 stars! Cory's custom cakes ARE worth the splurge 1-2 or even 3 times a year! Thank you Cory!

Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

Ordered an 8 inch fresh mango cake for $65 and it definitely delivered the WOW factor!! She made the cake fresh, on the day of pickup and it's truly one of the best fresh mango cake I have had. I was impressed at how the mangoes were so sweet and fresh and yes, all natural, with no sugar coating. And the cream on cake was excellent - fresh and luxurious feeling. I loved how the cream on cake did not overpower mangoes, perfect sweetness with very smooth texture, bringing out the mango fruity taste and pairs perfectly with the vanilla sponge cake which is light and fluffy. Everyone, from young pre-teen to old senior age, enjoyed this bday cake after dinner. The 8" cake was more than enough to share between our dinner party of 12 with various diet restrictions - some wanted bigger slice while some could only sample a taste of sugar and still other foodies like myself who hoarded a second slice lol. This cake was deserving of driving across town against rush hour Hastings traffic to pick up and Yan Bakery may become the only place I would go for fresh mango cakes in Vancouver. IMO, Helen's fresh mango cake was way way better than La Foret, Maxim, St Germaine's or T&T, just to name a few places where I have ordered mango cakes. I think Helen is a great bakery owner because cakes delivered met expectations. I can feel the baker's dedication at Yan's as each cake uses fresh ingredients and made to order. My other favorite cake would be the Raspberry Chantilly Cake from Whole Foods, though pre-made, that cake also shares same success elements of awesome fresh cake ingredients and impeccable tasting cream. No ambiance factor to comment because this is a bakery dedicated to making custom cake orders for birthday or weddings so there is no fancy decor in shop. I didn't find other baked goods sold here and no dine-in option for coffee. Located in a strip mall so there's free parking available when picking up cakes...convenient and free parking is always a plus in Vancouver! All in all, Helen is a good business owner with great attention to detail, she and her husband makes a good team in ensuring cakes are prepared well and ready for on time pickup - granting them 5 stars for both food and service.

This one had the more simple, traditional look which I preferred. It also made it easier to slice and share. The one thing that could have been better...there was so much coffee in this Tiramisu that it seemed to somehow spill out of the cake and onto the cake board. This made things a bit messy. I had to search for a platter in the kitchen that would be big enough to hold the cake on the cake board as the board was too messy for us to lay it straight onto the table. Love that it was loaded with coffee, but it was possibly a bit too much or else some new method needs to be found for keeping the coffee from spilling out and making things messy. Highly highly recommend this Tiramisu cake. It was sooooo good!
