Nutcracker Blueberry Chiffon Cake
Ines F.

I needed a last-minute cake for a holiday dinner I was attending with my husband, and I remembered ordering a birthday cake for my grandson from Paris Baguette before. I wasn't expecting such a big reaction to the cake--I thought people would just comment on the decorations, which were beautiful. I ordered online, picked it up with no issues, and placed it on the dessert table. Everyone loved how it looked, but once the cake was cut and served, the compliments were all about how delicious it was. I'm not usually a cake person, but after trying a slice, I was pleasantly surprised. The frosting was light and not overly heavy like many bakery cakes. It was absolutely delicious, and I will definitely be ordering from here again

Sacre Bleu! Incroyable. This is a Mecca for pastry enthusiasts. Everything and more ---both savory and sweet , this is the place for a yummy snack or jambon au beurre! Grab a tray, throw some wax paper down, grab your own tongs and get to work . They will bag it or box it up at the counter if you are taking out. The place is immaculate and servers are extremely amicable . Loved this experience .

I've only been to Paris baguettes inside groceries store so I was pleasantly surprised how big this bakery was. It had a lot tables for you to enjoy your coffee and pastry. It's a self serve so grab a tray and tongs and try not to grab every single thing because it all looks so good. My favorite is the fruit pastry. It's light and slightly sweet with the cream. They also have savory items and cakes.

Lemon Citrus Layer Cake

Back when Paris Baguette first started to sprout up in the Bay Area, I was super stoked to check them out. Sure, a lot of that had to do with the hype and the anticipation of trying them, but just about all of their confections and baked goods looked pretty legit. Now that they've been around for so long, though, I have to admit they've lost some of their allure. However, after hearing that they had a summer menu of lemon-inspired treats that was set to end, we made it a point to come here to catch it before it was gone. Honestly, if there was one sure fire way to get me excited for desserts, it would be of the lemon variety! Compared to the first Paris Baguette II ever visited (the now-shuttered location in Palo Alto), this one looks far more subdued (not in a bad way). Instead of the same sort of bright and chic decor, the look of this place is more contemporary and certainly a better fit for the neighborhood. What's more, I like how there's a good amount of seating inside and how they can create an "outdoor" area by opening up the front windows. As for their offerings, they have a wealth of European pastries (croissants, pain au chocolate, Danishes, quiche, pizzetas, etc.), donuts, breads, buns, rolls, and baguettes, just to name a bunch, as well as a slate of cakes and tarts. However, like most other Asian-owned bakeries (they started in South Korea), everything is lighter and less sweet (for the most part). -- BERRY TART I had high hopes for this one, as it looked great in the display case, and it didn't disappoint! Not only were the berries all very fresh, but the custard filling had a really nice flavor to it. My only (mild) complaint is that the crust felt a little dry. -- LEMON CITRUS LAYER CAKE I was hoping to see something more like a lemon bar or a lemon meringue, but, thankfully, this ended up being pretty decent! The layers of cake were moist and I liked how lemony everything was, even if it was a bit tart (I was okay with it). -- MATCHA MOCHI DONUT In terms of flavor, this wasn't too shabby. The icing, while sweet, wasn't overly sweet, and the matcha powder reinforced the flavor well. The donut could've used more mochi flour to get a better chew, but my bigger issue was with how it already tasted stale so early in the morning. -- COFFEE CROISSANT DONUT Honestly, I absolutely regret getting this. While the donut itself was fine, it was hard to enjoy it because of the icing and filling. Not only were they insanely sugary together, but the icing was a runny, melted mess. After just a bite or two each, we threw the rest away. Hard pass. -- CROISSANT DONUT By comparison, this was way more successful. The butter layers of croissant were great and we really liked the tinge of lemon icing on it. I imagine this was probably sugary as well, but ironically, because we had it after the coffee one, it wasn't nearly as noticeable. -- LEMON CUSTARD KING CREAM DONUT We opted to give this a shot after trying the Lemon Citrus cake, but I didn't find it to be quite as successful. For me, I thought the drizzle of white chocolate added to the lemon icing, but the lemon in the custard wasn't that strong. Still, it wasn't bad by any means. Despite how it's located right on Broadway in Millbrae, coming here is actually ridiculously convenient. Between the huge parking lots behind the building as well as the one across the street, there's no shortage of spaces. That being said, I've always been wary of what I buy here because of how I would often see flies circle around and land on the food. It helps that they now prepackage some of their buns and have their trays placed inside plastic cabinets (it never made sense how they used to sit out in the open), but it was a persistent issue, and those doors get left open, so who knows if it's fully resolved. Considering how how consistent and familiar they are, as well as how good their pastries and confections look, Paris Baguette still has some level of appeal even though they've lost some of that "new toy" shine. Of course, the food isn't bad either, though there are better places out there. However, for something relatively cheap and convenient, the options aren't bad, particularly their cakes and desserts. Don't worry, they should be safe from the flies, too, since they're in the refrigerated display cases.

Overall 3.5 Stars 4 Stars - Ambiance - 1st time visiting this franchise so I didn't know what to expect. The place is spacious, great lighting and clean. There is spacious seating for a couple or a large group. The items are displayed in a clear box case and you grab a tray, paper and tongs and you select the type of breakfast items you want. 4 Stars - Staff The people were friendly and efficient. You're able to observe the bakers making fresh pastries through a window while you wait to pay for your food and drinks. 3.5 - Food I came in at opening time at 7 and the selection wasn't full. Though there were many items available, the items I wanted were not. So I opted for the following: 4 Stars - Sweet - Blueberry Cream Cheese. The pastry was delightful but the blueberry jam was mild in flavor. 3.25 - Savory - Ham and Cheese Croissant - the croissant was light and fluffy. Had a wonderful flaky, buttery crust. But was lacking in the meat dept. It has a single thin slice of ham in the middle. When you bite or tear the croissant, you get a lot of air in the middle section, then you taste the ham. Bummer - cuz it has so much potential to be better. If it is a single slice, make it a thicker slice. With that said, the cheese was layered inside and outside of the pastry. 3 stars - Espresso- to wash it down. The espresso temperature was more luke warm than hot. Disappointed. Updated: As I am reviewing the bakery, wait until 7:45 to have a better pastry selection.

I tried a variety of pastries from this place to share and was pleasantly surprised. Most of the items had signs saying what they were, although one powdery donut did not, and we were curious if it had any filling. Line was handled very efficiently and fast. The chai latte was decent. There was plenty of space to sit, and the atmosphere felt calm and welcoming. I can see it being a nice spot to study or get some work done.

Curry croquette, crab croquette, ham & cheese pastry

Paris Baguette is your go-to for standard cakes and sweet or savory pastries. Over the years, they've offered trendier pastries such as cronuts and supreme croissants (croissant wheels). There's a good variety, even closer to the evening. However, I wouldn't go here expecting highest quality. The pastries are just ok, and most feel a little on the greasier/oily side. It's not worth it if it's out of your way, but they're affordable enough for a quick snack fix.

Very nice ambiance, nice breezy as well sat by the open window. Just my personal perspective...so many dogs walking by because of the pet food express nearby. the sitting area is also pretty dog friendly. the variety was vast and the employees were very nice and friendly. my aunt and i sat and chatted for almost 6 hours and was very comfortable.

Cappuccino Cake

Great location! I called in the morning to ask about the cake the person was very informative, I then made the purchase online on their website, and went to go pick it up. The guy who helped me was very nice as well. I went to pickup the "CAPPUCCINO CAKE". The cake looked incredible, and it came with a cutter/candles/matches on it. Very very helpful! And they sold hand made birthday hats as well at the store! I picked the dinosaur one Great experience, nice and clean location. Will definitely be revisiting soon!

Cronuts
Tina R.

Delicious and a variety of pastries here! We ordered the yogurt cronut, coffee cronut, and mango creme pastry. They all were so fresh! My toddler enjoyed the mango pieces on the mango pastry. They have a lot of seating here, but it can get crowded on a weekend/holiday morning. Service is great.

Crab croquet with 25% filling and all dough.

The crab croquet has very good flavor and is crunchy outside. They have delicious baked goods, I like everything there but why do they like to cheat the customers and chargesuch high prices? Cake that is hollow inside and pastry with little filling.

I would eat the cream by itself if they sold it that way. Good thing I don't live nearby. I highly recommend cakes that let their vanilla frosting shine without mixing too many flavors. I absolutely love the unique-esque of flavors here. The first cake I tried from Butter& was their brown butter lemon cake. It was a bit too sweet for my liking, but love the sound of that flavor combination. It was great texturally. The second one I tried was their lychee raspberry. Wow, they really get that lychee flavor super well there! Very impressed. This one was more to my liking, and it was as equally as beautiful as the first one. It ended up taking us over two hours to get our pastries, and by the time we reached the front, some items had already sold out. This time, we decided to arrive right when the line opened at 7:45am on a Friday. Personally, I'd rather get there early, wait a little over an hour, and have the first pick of pastries than arrive later, wait even longer, and risk missing out on items. We were the third party in line and placed our order around 9:05am. By 9:15am, we had our pastries and drinks. After our first visit, I wasn't completely convinced the wait was worth it. The pastries were good, but the long line and wait time didn't feel justified. This visit, however, may have changed my mind. We ordered: * Madame Lorraine * Chorizo & Tot Croquiche * Morty P * Strawberry Vanilla Bean Bun * Pistachio Cardamom Sugar Croissant * Rocky Road Double Chocolate Cookie * Classic Croissant We also got two drinks: the S'mores Mocha and the Cherry Vanilla Almond Cappuccino. Don't skip their drinks, their specialty coffees are just as creative as their pastries. I really appreciate their rotating menu. Their pastries are always so creative, and I love that they experiment with unique flavor combinations that you don't typically see at a bakery. Some items are definitely more memorable than others, but I enjoy that there's always something new to try. Their pastries are well executed. The croissants are flaky and buttery. This visit, my personal favorite was the Chorizo & Tot Croquiche. Overall, this visit was a much better experience than my first. If you're willing to wait in line, I think it's worth checking out. Otherwise, you can always try your luck with their Hotplate presale.

Husband called them around 11am and they said they were in the middle of making their strawberry cakes so they could add our order in for a same day pickup at 4pm. Pickup went well and the cake was so cute and it tasted great! Like the Chinese bakery strawberry cream cake with a moist sponge cake; not too sweet, just right. Might sound basic but it was done very well. Would 100% recommend. I don't know prices for cakes nowadays but I didn't feel bad paying about $60 for a cute and tasty cake (6", strawberry cream cake). I wouldn't bank on same day pickups, I might've just been very lucky they were in the middle of making their cakes but it wouldn't hurt to try calling early in the day if you're in a pinch for a solid cake. There was strong scent of matcha coming from the top drip design and we couldn't be more excited for our matcha bae. Fast Forward: The cake is super soft, fluffy, and oh so very light. The cake in itself was not super sweet- very typical of Asian cakes. The matcha flavor was unfortunately too mellow for us. 3 stars for the cake in itself but the rating is bumped up to a 4 because the presentation is so cute! Brief Summary: - New favorite place to eat mille crepe cake…read more- Not so sweet, easy to eat - Beautiful and peaceful interior - Near the MUNI N line I was looking for a new cake place to try, so when I searched for one in San Francisco, this one appeared in the first page. It was near the districts I like to go, and because I haven't been there in a while, I thought it was a good opportunity to visit here. This cake shop is very close to one of the MUNI line stops if you take the N line. The store had a sign propped up with the list of the mille crepe cakes and some of the chiffon. The basque cheesecake selection were not one there, so I assume that these are new items. The interior of this shop is so cute. It's as if I walked in a quaint early spring environment. The initial plan was to buy the cakes to take home, but I was now interested to stay to have a drink before buying the cake. There were seats in the further end of the building, so we sat there, relaxed while drinking coffee. I ordered 3 different cakes of different flavors - earl grey mille crepe cake - pandan chiffon cake - tiramisu basque cheese cake If someone asked me which one I liked the most, I would take time deciding because I loved all of them. All of them were not so sweet and also easier to eat; even the basque cheesecake. I showed the basque cheesecake photo to my colleague, and they were surprised: 'it's almost like having 2 cakes in 1!' was the memorable response to it. I also loved the mille crepe cake. This one left a fun and colorful impression of crepe cakes. I got the earl grey and I loved how it was almost like drinking an earl grey tea at the same time. I tasted the bergamot oil from the tea. I also liked how the crepe cake was overall moist and juicy (I wonder if it's because I chose a tea themed crepe cake?) I love the chiffon cake, and this also topped with the bias of me loving pandan. I was also surprised that the cream area was not just cream but packed with coconut meat. It gave a nice chewy flavor in between the cushion soft cake layer. The cake top decoration is so subtle yet gorgeous, it's a great cake to serve on celebrations too.

The nuts were not fresh and crunchy. I liked the tiramisu much better but it's not in anyway better than a real tiramisu cake. It was interesting to eating thin layers of pancakes nicely frosted with cream. It is obviously a labor of love to make. There's a lot of different flavors but I'm on the fence about trying another one.

That said, it's not bad at all, and when you're in San Bruno/Millbrae and don't feel like driving into SF Chinatown, this is one of the better local options.
