After shopping at 99 Ranch I decide walk 10 steps towards the doorless entrance of Sheng Kee Bakery in Daly City and give it a whirl. I originally use to go to the location in San Francisco at Outer Sunset on 20th avenue and Irving . I did get a chance to pick up a Summer romance at this Daly City location which is one of my favorite pastries at Sheng Kee Bakery but the berry jam was kind of lacking and the flavor didn't burst well unlike the Westlake Sheng Kee location in Daly City which has more berry jam and cheese in it . I wish the two Daly City Sheng Kee Bakery locations would mimic each other. I would say Sheng Kee Bakery overall does provide a better Summer romance experience than the 85 degree store at Stonestown in San Francisco. This Sheng Kee also offers carmel( caramel) flan and the delicious savory custard tarts and a good Portuguese custard tart. The tasty classic Japanese Light Cheesecake with peaches and strawberries is available for order in advance for pick up at available Sheng Kee locations. Is it Ranch 99 or 99 Ranch whatever is your stance, Sheng Kee is the place to indulge in a Summer romance
One of our weekly go to locations to get pastries after groceries shopping at Ranch 99. We normally get baked bbq pork bun, cream coconut bun, cocktail bun or egg tart. We also have bought cakes here. Love the tiramisu, mocha cake and their fruit tart cake. Unlike other cakes, their cakes are not sweet and doesn't have too much whipped cream. Love it.
After lunch, came here to grabbed a Coconut Cream Bun. This Coconut Cream Bun is my childhood must have breakfast in Hong Kong. I love it so much and have a lot of good memories with it. It taste really yummy. ^^, But ... it was hard to find parking.
We were visiting California with the in-laws and our airbnb was close by. We knew we needed a solid snack for the road trip down the coast and came here to pick up some. It is bigger than most Asian bakeries I have seen with many choices. We bought the pork bun, taro bun and the custard bun. Simple to last a few hours without refrigeration. They were pretty good. This bakery has many options and it suited our needs for the time.
Bread and pastries [Daly City location] Sheng Kee Bakery has lots of locations in NorCal. When we stopped by Skyline Plaza to look for a spice at the Ranch 99 market there it was... the bakery was directly across the cash register checkout counters of the grocery store. We didn't find what we were looking for at the grocery so we headed right across the hallway. The bakery is small but I was the only one there at the moment so I took my time perusing at the variety of baked goods. I made 3 full circles before I decided on the following items: Hotdog & Cheese Bun, Ham & Egg Bun, Paper cupcake, BBQ Pork Bun... all the baked items were individually wrapped, and then at the register I saw their Chicken Pie inside a glass case so I asked to purchase one. You can easily tell which buns are which from their descriptions and from their looks but I didn't know what a Paper Cupcake was. This petite looking cup-shaped paper wrapped is a classic sponge cake. It was soft, fluffy and filled with eggy goodness. Located at the Skyline Plaza in Daly City inside the Ranch 99 Asian Market with easy accessibility from Highway 1 and Interstate 280. Plenty of parking but it can get crowded. Review #2160
Where do I go after grocery shopping and Ranch 99? Yes, the temptation is sometimes too great. Located directly across the 99's cashier counters, this bakery offers a variety of take and go pastries. You start at the far right where there is a display case with cafeteria trays, wax paper, and tongs provided. There are two wall display cases and an island one to explore and choose between savories and sweets, healthy and not so much buns, breads, cookies, and mini cakes. To the far left, there is a refrigerated case with whole cakes. These days, all take and go items are prepackaged so it's now grab and go. I usually buy a variety of buns for my family but, with the lack of exercise and the number of sweets offering places I've visited, I haven't been buying as often or as much. This is also my post lunch and post shopping drink place as I sometimes get a mango green tea for the drive home. Recently, they added a Taiwan staple, tea eggs. This is immediately next to the cash register. If you buy a number of them, I suggest bringing a plastic takeout soup container to pack them. The staff are efficient and courteous. Given current conditions, do exercise social distancing and their sanitary guidelines. Support them as the Autumn Moon Festival approaches. I did and will.
Ordered a tiramisu cake and picked it up at the store. Price is decent, cake is good, not too sweet. Store is located inside 99 ranch market plaza. Show your receipt upon picking up the cake. Gives you a free birthday sign to be placed on the cake. Told me that the cake is frozen so won't be ready to eat soft until 1.5 hrs later.
I was doing some shopping at 99 Ranch, and this bakery is right across from it. I decided to stop by to pick up some baked goods. I was only planning to buy a few items and ended up buying more than I planned. This bakery has a good variety of freshly baked goods. They sell presliced bread by the loaf, single slice or whole cakes, flan, variety of buns and cookies, hot and cold beverages. I bought red bean mochi bun, green tea mochi danish, green tea red bean bun, custard tarts, curry pork sung green onion twist, garlic bread, and green tea red bean roll. The baked goods were all delicious. They were not too sweet or greasy, which I really liked. My least favorite was the custard tart. The crust was too thick.
AVOID , DISGUSTING business practice We're a long term customer. The only reason we bought birthday cake from this place is because my wife likes their french chestnut , so I ordered one and pick up last night. When we open up the cake, we notice the grapes' color is so bad, seems like it's been sitting for over a week(we didn't eat the fruits), that night , we all had diarrhea, throw up all night including my 3 year old daughter. This is not the way to do business. Selling non selling not fresh cake to customer to make them sick is absolutely disgusting. Even we like this particular cake, we'll never buy anything from you again. Just look at the fruit on the photo. It is at least sitting in the frig for a week to have this kind of color
3.5 This shop is small, but with a good selection. One way in, get your buns, pay on the way out, and exit. All their buns are wrapped in a plastic sealed baggie. But there are no tongs, I asked one of the workers there, he said just to grab them with your hands since they're all bagged. Which I was kind of ehhhh about because idk who else have touch the buns before me. And idk what else they have done with their hands before... esp with these sensitive times. I do like their innovated ideas of making diff flavor and adding new flavors to a classic bun. Will get some to try when I visit next time
It's a bit crowded and smaller since it's a stall in a shopping supermarket mall, but it does offer a lot of the Sheng Kee staples, such as red bean buns and pineapple buns and red bean moon cakes. Boyfriend drove us here so I could satiate my red bean cravings, and it hit the spot. We're so happy there's this accessible Sheng Kee Bakery with easy parking. read more

Price is good! All the pastries you would want. I wanted to order Boba from here, but the worker said that they don't start serving drinks until 1:00pm. That was just my experience. Maybe it was because I went on a weekday??? Idk. read more

I highly recommend this place! They have little treats as well as big cakes and all their stuff is always fresh! Never had any issues with the quality or the service. Most of their items are really affordable and priced between $1.5 to $3.0. I really like their small puddings, swiss rolls, cream buns, savory buns and fruit tarts. They will take card payments for bills only above $10, but that's never an issue because I hardly can resist! read more

The Sheng Kee Bakery in 99 Ranch got a whole new look, yo! I haven't been to this bakery in a while, but today I made a trip over because my mom bought some bread from there that I just absolutely fell in love with. And ate all of. And needed more.. of. So I made a trip here this morning. The new layout looks clean and well lit. There's cakes on one side of the counter and on the other is where they keep all their different breads and pastries. They keep the trays and tongs on one side and it's not hard to miss so you should be able to find them fast. This place looks like a smaller version of 85 degree bakery. Not going to lie. They have some breads here that look EXACTLY like the ones you can find at the other bakery. Don't know if that's just because all bakeries have the same products or what, but it's pretty cool. Prices here are decent. Some products are cheaper than their 85 degree bakery counterparts. Service was okay. A bit slow, but luckily they have 3 cash registers so sometimes it can move fast. It's really only putting the breads into the individual bags that slow things down. Overall, pfft. I'm coming here again for the bread of my dreams. It's also closer than 85 degree bakery so yay. read more
Talk about tasty pastries! In having heard numerous murmurs about this place and it's incredible pastries it was time to for me to take that leap of faith. I can now say after getting 4 pastries from here and digesting all of them in a matter of 10 minutes this place is 2 LEGIT TO QUIT. Yeah, if you know the reference you know what I mean and if you don't, I feel sorry for you. This is not the biggest bakery but you have to taken into account that it is apart of the ranch 99 market. If you walk in from the main entrance you can find the bakery on the left side. From there you can see all the pastries on display in their cases. From the buns to the croissants they are ample and on full display for you to see. I was surprised by the array of choices here. The prices are extremely fair as well which makes getting a lot of pastries ideal, at least for me. Depending on what time of the day you come in you will either have a lot of options or few, primarily due to customers buying in abundance. The bread loafs here are also amazing. I didn't get a chance to grab a loaf but the custard loaf smells amazing! Oh my, if you only grab one item from here I would suggest getting a loaf. The ladies that helped me today were so sweet and friendly. When you checkout the place your pastries in individual bags which is so NICE! Just a perfect place to pick up a baked good for breakfast or lunch. Quality food and service. #sweetperfection read more
Sheng Kee is another Taiwanese bakery in the mold of 85 degrees Cafe that I'm more familiar with. It is mainly NorCal based and has about 12 location in and around SF. This location is bang opposite 99 Ranch Market so it literally calls my name when I'm visiting 99 Ranch. It seems to be well stocked in the mid-morning hours on weekends. The product mix here is basically different types of bread, pastries, cakes and beverages. Over a period of time I've tried most of their bread and pastries. I've found most of these to be good, but one thing that stands out is that they seem to be a little greasier when compared to other Taiwanese bakeries. Prices for most items range from $1.5 to $3 so it's very reasonable. They do take cards but I think with a $10 minimum, I've had to pay cash most of the time. Overall I think this is a decent bakery for a pit stop but it does not warrant an entire trip for itself. read more

I must have forgotten how good some of the breads and pastries are at Sheng Kee.. there's been an influx of Asian bakeries popping up all around the Bay Area like Tous Le Jours, 85° Bakery, and Fancy Wheat Field bakery. I have been so busy trying things that I haven't been to a Sheng Kee in a long loooong time. I've finally made my way back and while I can't speak for the cakes as I don't really get them from any Asian bakeries, the breads here are really yummy! I got the standard Coconut Cream bread and they also had a promotion running for their coconut roll cake so got that as well. Both were so light, fluffy, and delicious. Not dry which tends to happen sometimes at these types of bakeries. My dad also got some of the small chicken pies which they have in the warmer near the register. Overall really enjoyed everything I had. read more
One day, after shopping for groceries at Ranch 99, I went to Majikku Ramen for lunch. Then I got a text message from a friend that said "I got mango mousse cake, wanna come over??". Now, I didn't know where she got the cake from, right? So I texted back saying "I'm having lunch at the ramen place by Ranch 99". She replied "Dude! I'm in the parking lot right now!" Apparently she got the cake from Sheng Kee Bakery which is right next door. What a funny coincidence. This is not the first time she bought mango kiwi cake from Sheng Kee. She bought it before on impulse and invited me over. It was gooooood. For those of you who's gonna say "of course it's good, it's free!", well, I actually partly paid for it because Sheng Kee is a CASH ONLY business and she didn't have enough money on her. Anyway, I guess she really likes the mango cake because obviously she's getting another one by using me as an excuse (you have to buy a whole cake, no individual slices). Although this time it's mango mousse cake. I don't mind, really. It was a really good cake. Not too sweet and very soft texture. One day I'll buy the cake and invite her over :) read more
We buy cakes here because my family doesn't really like American types of cakes that are overly sweet. Asian cakes, and especially the ones at Sheng Kee Bakery, have the right amount of sweet and neutral flavors working together. I think they usually go for about $19-25 or so. They also have sweet breads and buns (coconut, custards, bean pastes), savory buns (meats), curry pastries, etc. At the cash register, sometimes I'll also buy one or two triangular pieces of sponge cake because they're just so hard to resist. Simple and sweet. read more
