"Ham" and cheese croissant with one tiny piece of ham. "Ham & Cheese Croissant"
    Larkin O.

This place is just a shell of what it used to be. Whoever was in charge of their remodel should be committed. It used to be such a warm, welcoming place, and now it's worse than a hospital cafeteria. Everything is cold, stark and falling apart. The quality of the food has also gone way downhill (see ham and cheese croissant photo). The coffee is served at scalding, with only an always almost empty of milk and a few scattered packets of Splenda to temper it. The staff is trying their best but they are clearly overworked and underpaid. I appreciate that the sample dish is usually filled. People will keep coming here because there aren't a ton of offerings at Hillsdale, but it is no longer the pleasant place it used to be.

Went here with my parents for an afternoon snack. The store is clean and has indoor and outdoor seating. I mainly came here because I wanted to try one of the seasonal items. The lady who helped us was nice but didn't provide us with any recommendations on items. We chose to sit outside even if it was a little windy. 1. Matcha melon pan: Deliciously tasty. It was light, and I loved the little crust on the outer shell. No shortage on matcha filling, which I loved, and it had the lightly sweet melon flavor. 2. Mango coconut pastry: I usually alternate between this and the strawberry tart. 3. Walnut cream cheese bread: My mom's favorite snack, a classic staple here. 4. Chicken empanadas: My mom's favorite here as well. Nice chicken filling that leaves her stuffed. 5. Cinnamon sugar danish bar: I got this for my dad thinking it was similar to a donut stick, but it ended up being dry and uneventful.

Nothing better than a visit from a friend bearing delectable treats. What a nice surprise!! I couldn't help taking a peak before everyone else. Then I not so subtlely suggested we cut each treasure into small portions for a tasting, of everything. It was afternoon and perfect time for a treat! Cousin's friend brought: strawberry and peach danishes and almond twist. My favorite was the sweet tartness of the peach. The fruit in all the danishes was delicious. (4/5). For me, the tastiest part of the special delivery was the curried puff. Deep fried, golden brown goodness filled with a savory, deep flavored curry. This alone will keep me coming back for more..! Thank you friend for remembering my cousin and I. Thank you Andersen for feeding us so well this afternoon..!

More Protein, anyone?! The service was so-so. Not very friendly. The location needs some update in maintenance. Many pastries by the counter are not covered since it is near the exit/entrance. the food is okay.

This is a solid 3-4 star spot, I am choosing to go with 4 since they have always provided me friendly service and the pastries are delicious, plus it's a nice alternative to the mall food court. Tucked away in one of the halls of the Hillsdale Mall, this bakery always has intoxicating smells of fresh baked bread that will pull you in. I've lived nearby for a while, so I've dropped in more than just once. Whether to grab a pastry while window shopping, or to warm up with a hot soup or tea and catch up with friends, I have never had a really bad experience here. During the pandemic and workin from home, I found they are a nice lunch alternative with plenty of great sandwich options. The pork torta was an unexpected find, but it delivered. I was fearing a wimpy torta, but it was hearty and delicious, something you might find at your favorite taqueria. I could have saved half for 2nd lunch, but that's no fun. At around $9-$10 each, it's a solid value. Back in summer 2022 at least, seating was plentiful and they have some tables outside, but sectioned off from the passerby. Perfect for sunny weather or just to get away. Check them out next time you need a pick me up, to get through your shopping!

This is dangerously close to me I used to order from the one in San Mateo but now I could just stop by this one in my neighborhood whenever. Their desserts are not very sweet and normally quite elegant & delicate as well.

    grill chicken garlic mushroom sandwich

Terrible terrible service, they have extremely rude and sassy workers. It's like they don't care about the job and no one cares enough to say anything about it. Also look at this sandwich he made me. Made by the rude staff. Extremely slow service I cannot even put into words. And put only a quarter piece of chicken??? So inconsistent with the sandwich.

    Mold on raspberry

Sandwiches were super good! We ordered a turkey avocado sandwich and a chicken salad sandwich. Both were tasty and nicely flavored, not bland or too overbearing at all. Service was nice, kind workers who got our order done efficiently. Only downside was mold on the very berry danish... Makes you question the freshness of the fruit on many of their pastries. I'm a bit apprehensive to order one again.

The pastry selection is incredibly large so its normal to feel overwhelmed. There is no parking lot, only street parking so expect a little walk. There are a few outdoor tables as well as some inside tables. There are two gender neutral restrooms which both have baby changing stations which I would say is very thoughtful for families. * Lemon scone - very soft and more cakelike in texture. Lemon flavor is strong but not overwhelming. The sugar glaze makes it a bit sticky and counteracts the tart lemon tang. * Cinnamon roll- *only sold on sundays* This was delicious! The cinnamon roll is light with a crisp exterior and delicate notes of cinnamon spread throughout the pastry. The cream cheese frosting is decadent and creamy. Its a good ratio and doesn't feel too heavy to eat by yourself. * Salmon scone- I ordered this because I was craving something savory. It was pretty small so no more than a few bites. The bagel seasoning on top adds texture and grainy salt bits. The salmon is soft and smoky. It was good but compared to the other pastries, it didn't stand out to me. * Caramel latte (hot) - it was lightly sweetened, with balanced coffee flavor and milk. The coffee isn't too acidic and very easy to drink. I like that the drink wasn't too sweet so you could enjoy the pastries together. Bonjour Bakehouse stands out for their wonderful selection of high quality pastries and solid coffee options. If you're looking for overly sweet specialty coffee, I would look elsewhere. They serve authentic coffee using Ikon Coffee beans. Their outdoor patio is great for soaking up some sun with your pup.

I took off the center - see pic of actual product with the center in tact. That made it taste better. The croissant was my fave part - crispy yet flaky and oh so soft in the middle. Jamon fromage 10/10 Basically, a ham n cheese croissant. This was delish. Unsure if you've eaten at Croissante; but, their jamon fromage isn't that great compared to this. Theirs has mayo, which completely throws off the taste for me. In any case, this was a success. Latte 3/10 Way too milky and not enough flavor.

She was definitely a drive from San Jose to San Mateo but well worth it. When you pull up to her house, it may be difficult to find parking as other customers are picking up-- I ended up waiting for 1 person to pull out of her driveway so that I could park. The street is pretty packed with cars. Can I first say what a pleasure she is in person? Claire is super sweet and she's the reason I love supporting small business. We ordered the Mocha Crunch cake. Current prices are $50 for an 8". It's cash only so be prepared. The cake itself is on the light side (not as light as Asian cakes but I wouldn't call it dense either). Unlike some other reviewers that found it dry-- I highly disagree as it was not the most moist cake I've ever tried-- But it wasn't dry either. It was right in between and good enough for us. The Mocha flavor was lightly infused in the frosting and filling. It wasn't super overpowering but it was definitely there. The crunch topping was perfect and so unique. The only other place I've tried a crunch topping is in a latte from Kamurocho in Pleasanton. They have a "Honeycomb Latte" that is amazing. We served half the cake at one gathering and we ended up bringing the leftovers to another gathering. The cake was devoured. We had a party with 10 people and we couldn't finish the cake! The crunch was really good and special, the cake itself doesn't really present the mocha flavor, as a result, after a few bites, the cake became too sweet. We were all hoping the bitterness from the mocha coffee flavor can balance out the crunch but we were disappointed. Interestingly, we then moved onto eating a chocolate cake from Marvel Cake and the chocolate was able to balance out the sweetness and cleansed our pallet a bit. We all felt that a cup of coffee would be perfect with this cake. The cake inside could also be a bit more moist. So all in all, the crunch got the thumbs up but the overall cake not so much.

I'm also not a huge frosting person, and I believe the cream was buttercream, which was probably the biggest downside for me. I do wish there were more fruit in the filling. It was mainly cream and a few berries. We sliced the cake on Saturday, and by Monday the exposed part of the cake from where it was cut had become pretty dry. I ended up cutting off the dry outer layer, but thankfully the inside was still moist, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the cake. Ordering through Square was easy. I ordered the 4-inch cake with a marble design, matcha cake, strawberry cream, and strawberries. One thing to note is that if you order the 4-inch cake, there wasn't a section to add custom text. The moisture and strong matcha flavor really stood out and were my favorite parts. If I were to order from this bakery again, I'd probably try a different filling and cream because the buttercream just wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference.

Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register. Ok....I never understand businesses that start shutting down things before closing time. This just shows customers that team convenience of closing shop quickly takes precedence over customer experience, essentially omitting availability of items from the menu while they are still open.
