Seriously light and delicious, reasonably priced, the self serve selection is easy, the staff is helpful, and inside is cozy and inviting.

This spot in Chinatown is always a place we drop by. They have a really good variety of pastries and we honestly haven't been disappointed by anything we've tried. The setup can be confusing if you've never been to this kinda place before, but you just grab a tray and tongs at the front and pick what you want from the cases. When you're done, they've got you covered at the register. They also have a grab-and-go case plus full cakes and more elaborate slices if you're in a rush or want something a step up from the cases. The staff is super nice and always asks if you want anything heated up or if you prefer it packed to go, which I appreciate. There's a fair amount of seating, but it definitely fills up fast. My personal favorite is the crab croquettes. They're savory with a subtle sweetness that's really nicely balanced and not something you see everywhere. Worth stopping in.

I've passed by Paris Baguette in Chinatown so many times and always said "next time." Well... it finally happened. The second I walk in, the smell hit me. Butter, sugar, baked things everywhere. It's kind of impossible to ignore. What makes it funny is that it's a French bakery right in the middle of Chinatown. It just works though. Staff was super nice. Smiling, patient, didn't feel rushed at all. I ordered a hot chocolate and the Chocolate Supreme Croissant. Hot chocolate was good. Sweet, comforting, did the job. But the croissant... that was a moment. Round, flaky, crispy on the outside and on the Inside Chocolate custard heaven. Then more chocolate on top. And those little crispy pearls. It's a lot, in the best way. Every bite was crunchy, soft, rich, and messy in a good way. Straight-up chocolate overload. I can't believe this place has been here all this time and I barely noticed. Easily one of the best pastries I've ever had. Not even exaggerating.

I am so mad that I have found you guys cause now I am going to be thinking of your donuts! This review is based on my Door Dash delivery from last night! I ordered three of your King Cream Donut. Which is a soft donut filled with soft custard cream, rolled in powdered sugar!! OMG it was amazinggggggg!!! The donut itself melted in your mouth! The custard cream is very rich yet lightly sweetened. Just sooooooo darn good! It's reminiscent of a Boston Crème doughnut without the chocolate and like 100 times better! An Exceptional donut!!!!!!!!!! Best I have ever had. I went back yesterday to the actual location! Haha! Soooo goood!!!!!!

After dim sum, we opted for something sweet to take home and stumbled upon Paris Baguette. The selection here is better than the one located in Hmart. We got a mix of sweet and savory. (Later at home, everyone enjoyed their pics.) It was busy but not soo much that we were overwhelmed and felt rush to pick out our pastries. Checkout is quick and efficient. We will add this to our rotation when we are on this side of Chinatown.

The gist: Its so good, we're going back! The details: We came to Paris Baguette while visiting Chicago to get a cake to celebrate my sister and brother-in-law's wedding anniversary. There were so many options that looked appealing. In addition to cakes, there were pastries, lattes, milk tea, etc. We went with the red velvet cake. It was delicious! Super moist, very fresh and they packaged it well. They let us pick it up right then and gave the option to have a message written plate. They also gave us a cake cutter and candles. For our individual desserts, we settled for cookies as our initial preferences were sold out. Note: Go early. We initially went in Paris Baguette around 2pm but decided to explore Chinatown first so that we would not have to carry the cake around. By the time we got back, around 4pm, most of the pastries we'd seen earlier were sold out and had been replaced with cookies. We were a little disappointed, but those cookies were absolutely delicious! That said, we decided that it's definitely worth a trip tomorrow to try some of the more unique items like the Biscoff cruffin, blueberry yogurt cake, and strawberry & Nutella pizzetta. Good service. Some of the items were a little pricey, but the cookies were actually reasonable for the huge size. The bakery was spacious... more spacious than anything else in. Chinatown. Overall: I can't wait to go back!

Cases of baked goodness greets you upon entering the shop.

Charming French pastry shop located in the middle of Chinatown, a bit crazy. But what a variety of treats, including traditional French pastries and not so traditional items, like mochi donuts. Some of the tables could have used a wiping down, but we did see someone going around wiping them down when we left. If you love croissants and croissant pastry type treats, this is the place to go. They also have breads and other lovely baked goods, but those croissants, cruffins, and the like were the prettiest things that looked absolutely delicious. Hubby bought a loaf of sourdough and loved it. It was the traditional sour sourdough, of which I am not a fan, but he loved it. Bought a soft strawberry cake, which was good, but not really special. Should have sprung for the croissant type stuff I've mentioned, but it was quite pricy and we have some great croissant bakers in northern Michigan, so I wasn't feeling the need to have it. Friendly staff, always a plus. Even if you don't buy anything, good luck with that, it is worth stopping in just to see the fabulous array of goodies laid out in glass cases. Really.

This Chintown location is pretty spacious, great spot to do some work. I got a sweet potato bread pastry and a ham and cheese pastry (I recommend getting this toasted), both good. The staff are really nice. The bathrooms are also pretty clean.

Paris Baguette is a self serve bakery along the Main Street in Chinatown. They offer really delicious pastries from croissants, danish, a variety of mochi donuts, savory breads, sweet buns, breads, muffins and specialty decorated cakes! They have gourmet teas and coffees to accompany the deserts. There's plenty of room to sit and enjoy your purchases. Everything is made fresh and tastes amazing! We tried the matcha mochi donut, almond croissant, lemon tart and bought a loaf of raisin milk bread for home. Items are generously filled, garnished and decorated with top quality ingredients. Service is fast! They wrap them nicely as well.

Very cute decor and ambiance, however the service was mediocre, but it's fine. There was a huge selection of pastries with options for everyone. It's also self-serve, which is a plus. I enjoyed the blueberry cream cheese pastry as well as the coffee one. The curry was just okay, probably wouldn't get it again. The Nutella latte was pretty bad in my opinion and needed a lot of doctoring up. I'd definitely return again because there's more pastries that I would love to try.

Delicious pastries and so many different options. They have seasonal options and frequently have new things. I have loved all things I have had. Crispy croissants, fresh and well balanced fruit pastries and chocolate that's so yummy. Service is helpful and friendly. Clean and open eating area with plenty of seating. My favorite from this trip was the cronut. Light lemon frosting and it was not too sweet, just right.

What an incredible pastry shop!!! Our cashier Justin was polite and efficient and deserving of the optional tip. The atmosphere is vibrant with tons of foot traffic which offers a feeling of excitement. The trays lined with parchment paper and mini tongs make for a sanitary self service establishment. As for the food: The pictures speak for themselves! So deliciously decadent that it is ridiculous!!!!

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

I bought 3 and my friend got 2. Calamansi cream + pistachio paste danish was my favorite. The Calamansi cream was the perfect texture and density with a fragrant citrus note. When I took a sip of coffee afterwards it made my coffee taste like I was drinking fresh orange juice. The pistachio is more cake like inside than full paste and isn't too sweet. Flaky dough, soft pistachio center and creamy top with a sharp citrus cut. Peach + raspberry Melba danish. The peaches were soft. I'm not familiar with a Melba dessert but the center of this was almond paste which is not my favorite but if you like almond and tart danish it would hit the spot. Raspberry espresso cream cheese cinnamon roll was a fun fruity twist to a cinnamon roll. Couldn't really tell there was espresso though. Blueberry lime cheesecake danish. I also liked this one because of the lime. It really cuts through the heaviness. The fruits on top were also fresh. They also have one day old blind boxes. I grabbed a 6 piece day old box to go and it was actually 6 different pasteries, half sweet and half savory! It only repeated 1 of the pasteries I had originally tried so I'm excited to try more, especially the savory ones. It's an amazing deal if you just want to try a variety of flavors. Tried the Hot dog danish - really good! Upscale pigs in a blanket vibes. The tiny fried are seasoned perfectly and add a fun crunch. The splashes of Dijon cut through and it doesn't feel oily at all.

Let me tell you, it was all I hoped it could be and more. The storefront was pretty small with a few tables- between the size, hours, and popularity (they were only open a few days a week and closed at 2pm), I suspected that the shop sold out often. I went on a weekday and there was still a good selection of pastries left around 11am. The staff was super nice and helpful as I struggled to make a decision. They shared that the strawberry milk croissant was their bestseller, so I opted for that. It was filled with fresh strawberry mascarpone and fresh strawberry puree. Despite the croissant's decadent appearance, it was not at all too sweet. I'm not typically the biggest croissant fan (I know, I know, no one is perfect) but this pastry blew me away. The filling was super generous without overpowering the delicate dough, which was baked to crispy perfection. The cake tasting was a wonderful experience, giving us plenty of delicious options to choose from while helping us create the perfect cake for our special day. Throughout the entire process, their communication was outstanding. They kept us informed every step of the way and worked directly with our wedding venue, "Firehouse Chicago", to coordinate the delivery and logistics. Everything was handled seamlessly, and our cake arrived exactly as planned without a single issue. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but Bittersweet's professionalism, organization, and proactive approach gave us one less thing to worry about. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellent customer service truly stood out. One feature we especially love is that they keep the recipe and design of your wedding cake on file. Every anniversary, they can recreate your wedding cake or a cake in any size you choose. We've continued this tradition, and each anniversary cake has been just as delicious as the original while bringing back wonderful memories of our wedding day. If you're looking for a bakery that is responsive, dependable, and delivers an outstanding product, I highly recommend Bittersweet Bakery for your wedding cake or any bakery needs. They responded promptly to our questions and requests, unlike some businesses that never replied to estimate inquiries. Their customer service and quality were truly exceptional. A heartfelt thank you to Samuel who conducted the Cake Tasting and the entire staff at Bittersweet Bakery for helping make our dream wedding a reality. We will always be grateful and look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries with your incredible cakes.
