My Experience at The UPS Store - 325 Ellington Blvd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878…read more My daughter and I had an awful experience at this UPS Store. Two employees, Jonathan and a young white woman with pink hair, both appearing to be in their early 20s, treated us with disrespect and what I perceived as racist behavior. I brought two packages to return using company-provided barcodes that covered shipping and packaging. Instead of assisting me, both employees refused to properly handle my packages. Jonathan told me I had to purchase tape and package the box myself, refused to provide scissors or a marker to write my return address, and said giving me a marker would be doing me a "favor." He even suggested my daughter look through the trash for a box. The female employee handled my curtain package carelessly, slapping tape on both sides and throwing it into the bin without properly wrapping or securing it, leaving it vulnerable to damage. After spending 30-45 minutes trying to resolve this, I asked for their names. Jonathan ignored me, and the female employee refused, saying she was uncomfortable giving me her name. Jonathan then remarked, "It's 7 o'clock," making me feel as though I was being pushed out of the store. I remained polite throughout the entire interaction, despite their consistently nasty attitudes. I also observed other customers being treated differently, which made the experience even more concerning. I work in the medical field and was dressed casually after coming from home. I cannot help but wonder whether my appearance influenced how we were treated. I have given this location years of business because I live just two blocks away. I was denied basic customer service, courtesy, and respect. I have filed a complaint regarding these employees, and I sincerely hope no other customer experiences this kind of treatment. Employees represent the company they work for. The way customers are treated reflects directly on that company, and customers remember how they are made to feel.
