    American sandwich
    Chelsea V.

Came with some friends for my birthday and it did not disappoint! We got a bottle of champagne with orange and cranberry juice to start and eventually traded orange to pineapple. I had the American sandwich. Very hearty meal. The drag show was amazing. Will definitely be back!

Really was disappointed in the service yesterday...the food was not edible as it was litterally a hot dog with microwaved pancakes...on the menu it stated sausage and this is definitely a hot dog. Not to mention, the show was over an hour late and with the price of the non edible food/ and drinks I really would not recommend this place. I don't even know how it's legal to serve this kind of food and charge the way they do.

I really wish there was more transparency around the pricing of the Sunday Drag Brunch. I paid $46.30 for 2 people thinking it included the brunch and was charged an additional $40.00+ for the food which was over an hour late and I was not even able to get to get a second meal... very disappointing for a buffet. I truly enjoyed the show hosts and the queens. They were fun and very welcoming to all. The show was just the right amount of time and kept me laughing / engaged the whole time. Please keep in mind that in addition to the entry fee, buffet fee, drinks (they even charge for water), you will also need to bring money for the performers. As far as the venue, it is beautiful and clean. You will be sat with random people either across or next to you depending on your party due to the sitting set up The service was as 3/5 because although they were nice, when I asked for things, they were not brought or forgotten (water + my drink + syrup). I had to get up twice to order my own drinks.

I came here in the afternoon so can't speak to the brunch. The cocktails were pretty good but pretty overpriced for what it is. Bartender was friendly and helpful, decor and rooftop is nice!

My wife and I spent a night in San Antonio celebrating our anniversary and came here Friday afternoon around 3pm just because we noticed it from the river walk. Food isn't sold until later in the day, so we had a couple of drinks and left--it was the windy weather that drove us out as I really enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere--plenty of seating inside and outside with dogs allowed, at least when it's early and empty--which was cool. Music was on target for the setting to complete the vibe--it's beautiful outside! Service was friendly but slow and we were pretty much the only ones there, but that's also probably the issue--this is more of a nightclub scene than an early afternoon drink scene. Very pricey, but you only live once, and when Spring is past, so will be the wind. 4 stars.

10/16/22 This is to review the drag brunch show this day. Note: not for kids, although someone brought a one-year old. It's about $15 per person. Not bad. Where they get you is for drinks and food. Prices in the double-digits. Food portion are NOT large, more on the appetizer size. Service is very good. Comes by regularity to check on you. The show is typical drag - Lip-syncing to songs, prance and try acrobatic moves. Give them money for their efforts. It is a fun time. Good and risqué. The drag queens will get you to do things for free shots and bottles. The downside is that the entry process is not very smooth or quick. One person is checking your tickets and then seats you. He then comes back for the next people and does it again. Takes a while. The line cascades down the many flights of stairs. At least you get a breather between flights because of the forever wait to be seated periods. The seating areas are covered and uncovered. They supply umbrellas to the people seated in the sun. It can be quite warm. The restrooms are labeled as 'drip dry' (women) and 'flip dry' (men). Took me a minute to figure this one out. I saw a woman (I guess ???) come out of the drip dry, so I went in there. Definitely worth a try.

This place is great for pics and is aesthetically pleasing. There's an area that you can sit outside and see a view of the city. They have a champagne vending machine but you have to purchase a token and an attendant will escort you there but you have to drink the champagne on premise. The chicken on crack was bomb! Quite delicious. I did get duped with the old fashion as the pour was not consistent. There was only 1 server/bartender as he said the other server that was supposed to come in called in. He did try his best and forgot our orders so we spent the majority of time waiting. I spent $100+ here and would give them another chance.

Adrian was great! Super kind and made great drinks! Especially that cucumber drink! The daiquiri shots that we took was super tasty also!

Definitely the place to come to for entertainment. If you do have plans to come here, come hungry. From what was presented, ordering food is a requirement. Sounds like the alcohol sales trump the food sales, iykyk. Staff here is friendly. Tip regardless of your party size, until everyone has arrived you & your party will not be seated. Realized this after waiting. Breakfast menu is available until 1 & after 1 there is a different menu. The after 1 menu seemed more appealing especially with alcohol. French toast scrumptious & presentation was good. Honestly we were not really hungry as we had full blown breakfast before arriving. French toast, ordered arrived hot & nice presentation. Honestly the food that the group ordered, no complaints. We enjoyed our French Toast, could have used a bit more syrup. FYI you don't get condiments rather the condiments are placed on your food such as syrup. Believe majority of people who come here, come to enjoy entertainment. The entertainment does not disappoint. Everyone was getting into the vibe. Women up & dancing with the performers. Drinks meh, anything with a pitcher or bottle tasty. Bar mix drinks not so much. Aside from the dollar tips, food and drink menu, there is an entrance fee & which you must confirm day before. Yes, this was not cheap. This is a place you go to enjoy entertainment & friend's company.

    Shrimp Ceviche $18

Came for drag brunch and it was a great show! Nothing against the drag queens, but the actual restaurant and bar is dramatically overpriced. I can understand having that pricing because "it comes with the a show," but we're already paying $20 admission. The food and drinks don't need to be $18+. That's more than stadiums, restaurants and bars anywhere. Seriously every cocktail is $18. It's ridiculous. And they're charging $48 for a bottle of champagne brands that cost $11 at the store. For the food, I don't recommend the charcuterie board. It comes with a lot of meat but only like 5 pieces of crusty bread. Could at least provide crackers? I recommend getting the shrimp ceviche because it tasted great and the serving was large so at least it felt worth the money. Could be served with more chips though. DONT GET THE AVOCADO TOAST. Again it's $18 which is absurd, because it was on sandwich bread and was just smashed up avocado and black sesame seeds. No other nuances to make it "fancy toast" The charcuterie board had better bread than that... I would rate this place lower but I like the drag queens and want San Antonio to continue to have an establishment to host them. It's just sad that the owners have to nickel and dime their guests with these prices.

Thursday night bar hopping led us to Paramour rooftop bar at 11:30 pm, just before they closed at midnight. The bartender kindly mentioned the closing time upon our arrival and offered us water along with the menu. Despite a long drink list, he happily made off-menu items, and my choice, an espresso martini, turned out to be the best in a long time. The place had plenty of seating areas with fun pillows, and being next to the river walk, the view was stunning. Getting our last drinks around 11:50 pm, the bartender reassured us there was no rush to finish despite them closing soon. He chatted with us, giving recommendations for places to go next.

Despite the staff shortage, we placed a significant order for at least ten drinks. My husband had made a reservation for 6:00 PM. However, at approximately 7:30 PM, after we had already placed our drink order, a staff member informed my husband that our table reservation was only valid for two hours. Concerned about the impending two-hour limit and the delay in receiving our drinks, which had still not arrived by 7:45 PM, we inquired with our bartender about potentially canceling our order. He reassured us, stating that other tables were available should additional patrons arrive. Our subsequent visit, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, was solely with my husband. We arrived punctually, approximately five minutes before our 7:30 PM reservation. A female bartender directed us to a small, two-person table, despite the presence of two larger, seemingly more comfortable, unoccupied tables nearby. While initially assuming these larger tables might be reserved for a bigger party, the selection felt somewhat restrictive given the availability. Our seating unfortunately placed us adjacent to another patron who was using an additional chair to prop up her footwear, which contributed to an unpleasant atmosphere. The bartender then approached our table and asked if it was our first time, to which we replied it was not. She then asked if we knew what we wanted to order. We requested a brief moment to review the menu. However, we then waited for approximately fifteen minutes for her to return. Eventually, my husband had to actively call her over to place our order. Our initial drinks arrived after another ten to fifteen minutes. Subsequently, my husband attempted to catch the bartender's attention to order another round and request water. However, she was engaged in a lengthy conversation, estimated at ten minutes, with the neighboring patron and proceeded to walk past our table without acknowledging us. This extended period of being overlooked led to considerable frustration for my husband, who then felt compelled to approach the main bar directly to place our order and obtain water from a different bartender. It was only after this that the initial female bartender finally approached our table, asking if we needed anything. Considering the relatively small size of the establishment and the fact that there were only three occupied tables at the time, the level of inattentive and delayed service was particularly disappointing and, frankly, perplexing.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks.
