GREAT SHOW!!! Went on a Sunday for Drag Brunch. The show itself was amazing! They really put on a show and the performances varied in musical selections to fit everyone's musical needs! The venue itself was super cute! It has different places to take pictures but IT WAS SUPER HOT! The venue is up 4 flights of stairs (I had on heels) and is completely open to the outside. The drinks were a bit pricey but what was upsetting was the lack of food. Apparently, the chef had left unexpectedly and we couldn't order food but 30 mins later food that was ordered was still coming out? They compensated us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience which was nice. I definitely will be going back but hopefully the kitchen issues are fixed. read more

The place is beautiful! Decor and the atmosphere is definitely instagram worthy! Drinks are average. Food.... no idea because it took an about to get an hour for an update about when our food would be out. Not a problem sometimes food can be worth the wait. It's the service that really made my self and my party disappointed. Everyone was friendly, but being a server my self I always appreciate honesty. I saw there was only two servers so I assume short staff, so we waited patiently for waters to be refilled, orders for drinks/food. When I know we are short staff and it's not busy I try my best to entertain my guest with constantly checking up on them. Or just letting them know it is short staff so to bare with them but instead we were met with attitude and sass from our server. I hope she has a better night maybe it was because she had another big table but if she was just honest and apologetic it would've made waiting a hour less disappointing. What a wonderful rooftop place. Paramour has a prime location on the Riverwalk and after enduring 7 flights of stairs you will be rewarded with a fun, vibrant, and playful atmosphere. Five out of five stars for the atmosphere both interior and exterior. Absolutely stunning. Taking off stars for the cocktails -- service, taste, timeliness. We were the only people there ordering at 2p on a Friday (there was another couple talking to a manager) and it took 15 minutes to get acknowledged by the other bartender. She then gave attitude when we asked about the menu and her recommendations but eventually we ordered and proceeded to wait for another 20 min to get our drinks. I understand they are specialty but this was extreme. When we finally got the drinks, I can't say they were worth the wait nor the price tag. I also was a little disappointed in the bathroom area where you wash your hands. Not clean, soap was everywhere, there was melted wax in the sink, and lack of paper towels but the bathroom stalls were clean. I recommend checking this place out but maybe go with a beer to speed up the process and enjoy the outdoor patio. read more

However, when we were finally able to experience the venue we had so much fun. The food and drinks are pricey starting at around $16 for everything. Everything was tasty and delicious. Beautiful, kitschy venue with stupid prices. We attended a work holiday party here last night and the ambiance was perfect. Rooftop bar with plenty of nooks and crannies to chat and chill. The lighting and decor were eclectic and cozy. Granted, I don't know how much of that was the party planning committee and what was Paramours. The food was so-so; heavy appetizers that were more like a nacho bar with under-seasoned food. My biggest disappointment was in the bar. There were at least 4 bartenders back there for a party that hit around 150 people (there may have been more); the service was excruciatingly slow for drinks that were coming‐ mostly- from a prixe fix menu. The one drink we did order off the menu (and had to pay for ourselves) was a gin Rickey. Which they charged $22 for. That's insane. I probably will only go back if it's for a hosted event. read more

So we arrived at 11am picked our seating based on the position on the umbrellas on the patio we sat there for 30 minutes my friend got up got us water . This rude waiter came turned the umbrella I said excuse me. He yelled you need to share don't be rude. Remind you he gave us no warning before turning the umbrella. I have mixed feelings about Paramour. On one hand you see a really cool concept and nicely organized space with a MOUNTAIN of potential. On the other hand you see rather poor execution of service, style, and price point/value. It's an odd mix because this IS NOT a bad place. My party had a great time but there were little inconveniences that should not happen at a place with an "exclusive" feel and the prices to match. 1. There is a distinct lack of smiles and good attitude from door and back of house staff, bartenders in particular were cold and not accommodating. 2. Floor staff was great. Smiles, accommodating, and warm. 3. Drinks are top shelf but the experience of ordering them isn't (see #1) At one point a bartender told me that I couldn't order from him...even though we'd been ordering from the bar all night. I assume this is due to the entertainment BUT there was no notice given prior to the show. 4. There is a lack of communication and understanding of the services/menu. When I made the reservation I expected (and was a primary reason for the reservation) that a food menu was available. On the night of our party we were informed that there were no food options (other than ceviche). My request to have food brought in was met with an awkward "let me check with the manager" that was never answered. 5. The drag show was standard fare but the burlesque portion was OUTSTANDING. More of that...less drag IMHO. 6. The price point here is out of step with other venues in SA....and would raise eyebrows even in Austin. Any place that charges $20+ for a cocktail is just being pretentious. I will go to Paramour again but I will temper my expectations...downward. That way I won't be disappointed. Good drag show but several misses. 1) They don't let you use the elevator!!! In took my older aunt to see a show and they refused to let her use the elevator!! You have to climb 4 flights of stairs! She made it to the top but couldn't breathe for a bit :( :( 2) under the FAQ section, it clearly says that there is a 15% service charge included in all prices... so "tipping isn't necessary but welcomed"..... okay so that justifies the $18 price tag on drinks... Loved the beef fajitas, great chips with several different salsas, stacked shrimp enchiladas, table side guacamole, carne deshabrada flautitas, some kind of spicy chicken breast, and Wow the cocktails!! My wife and I just went to Paramour this weekend to celebrate a good friend's Birthday. They had a drag brunch event which in my opinion was as a great time. The buffet was not that great and the drinks where a bit pricey but I knew the drinks would be a higher cost due to other reviews and my wife visiting this bar previously. My tab was high due to me choosing to have top shelf tequila and our server told me the price a head of time so I can't complain about the price. Overall everyone had fun, our server was awesome, the staff where great and the drag queen's put on a great show. To me that equals 5 stars. I would definitely go back. read more

NEW MANAGEMENT ALERT! I've been to Paramour a few times since it opened, and I was was never a huge fan. I visited today again after a few months because I heard they had a new team and management, and WOW was I surprised! The decor is still the same, which I am super happy they didn't change because I just love everything about it; the couches, candles, art work, pillows, neon signs, etc! The decor is just fabulous! Their view is still incredible and one of the best in the city. The new Manager is the one and only Michael Wagner, who has worked at award winning bars and Michelin-starred restaurants, and is ready to make Paramour one of the best cocktails bars in the city! I tasted three of the cocktails from his new menu, and they were AMAZING! I specially liked one called Federal District (or something like that). The cocktail was refreshing, not too sweet and wasn't too strong. I'll definitely be coming back soon to check out their 'interactive menu'. read more

I honestly don't know how to feel about Paramour. Rooftop bar? Check. Unconventional cartoonish pillows and artifical turf? No bueno. I want to like it but there's a LOT going on here. My drink was called the KRISTI WATERS. ( flor de Cana white ( rum) , blue Curaçao, lime juice, simple syrup and coconut puree. The rim was some thick, white , sweet concoction covered in sprinkles. It was decent. I'm a wine girl, & I really don't do sweet cocktails; if I do a cocktail it will be whiskey/ bourbon based. It gave me a level 6 buzz which is decent for the 20 bucks I shelled out for the drink. I walked up four or five flights to get you this place. If your looking for a place to chill with friends this is it. Solo I would recommend bar 1919. Prohibition style bar with a more extensive cocktail/ drink list. read more

Girlfriend brought us for drinks. The menu isn't overwhelming or cumbersome. The punchbowl drinks were intriguing, but we didn't have a large enough party to justify. We ordered a whiskey & soda, I ordered a daiquiri. My husband was going to order, but the bartender made him a daiquiri too. She was so proud of her measured pour that he didn't have the heart to correct her mistake, so he just took it. They do charge a rather pricey service fee, which the manager explained was an automatic tip. The patio is gorgeous when the weather is nice. Beautiful view of the city and we enjoyed sitting in the sun (me) and shade (My party). The bathrooms were hilarious and one of the unique features of the bar. read more

We attended the drag brunch. The tickets said doors were at a11 which is when we arrived and they started seating at 1030 so there were no seats left except for barstools. The performers were all amazing and talented. The brunch was SUPER disappointing: $20 for soggy chilequiles, no bacon or sausage or eggs, potatoes which were meh and soggy French toast which was empty each time I went to get some. I'd advise skipping this and eating before or after. Drinks were good but overpriced. Overall, an ok experience and I'd recommend if you don't eat there and just get your go to vodka soda or something vs their overpriced cocktails. This place is a hippie-speakeasy hybrid. Perfect for small groups and large, Paramour is a rooftop lounge with beautiful decor. They serve delicious food in the afternoon and have an extensive drink menu both traditional and unconventional drink choices. The staff are also knowledgeable and can make suggestions for drinks off of the menu. I enjoyed the lobster rolls(so fresh!) even the bun was yummy. Also the chicken tostada. A great recommendation from our server - I think his name was Jay and he was amazing! I recommend their repasado margarita. Take an Uber and when you arrive you can walk up or take the elevator to the restaurant. Come here to have fun with coworkers, friends and lovers! The later it gets the more fun the crowd and vibe. THE TWO STARS ARE NOT FOR THE DRAG PERFORMERS! They get a 10/10. The rest of the experience tanked the review considerably. I have not been here since I had my birthday here in 2016, a private birthday/political party in 2017, and the Möet White party in 2017. What a difference a few years makes! First let me give the drag show its props. The show was absolutely amazing. It energized the crowd, it had me on the edge of my seat, they all gave 150%. I loved them all. Now for the WHOMP WHOMP part...the food, drinks, and billing. They do not have enough tables to set food/drinks upon. Mimosas were ok because we made them ourselves. These $18 "specialty" drinks were underwhelming. The food was very close to being tasteless and there was a hair-thin layer of avocado on the toast, which looked more like the guacamole in a bag from the store than fresh avocado. I pay less for heaps of fresh avocado on fancy toast at brunch restaurants. My friend ordered the charcuterie board and the set-up was unappealing. Paper thin meat slices and cheese slices, a handful of almonds thrown on top, one lone strawberry, and 4 olives. The drink I ordered was all looks and no substance. I never received my last drink, a whiskey Sprite, but I bet I was charged for it because my friend interrupted my itemization with the server, Angie, and told her to charge it all on her card but my card was STILL CHARGED. Not just charged though...overcharged! The server was asking me what was mine, so how could they charge my card anything if they didn't know what I ordered and if my friend then proceeded to pay the whole tab? Plus they do not give you a receipt or anything showing what they charged you for. If this charge posts to my account, I'll have to make a very unpleasant phone call. If you go, just get a bottle of Prosecco and make mimosas and wait to go to real brunch afterward. read more

Feeling classy and in the mood to treat yo'self? Then Paramour is perfect for you! This has to be be hippest bar in San Antonio. It's located on a roof with seating a-plenty. The decor is modern and very Instagram-able, as are the drinks. Their famous drink comes in a Ziploc bag, which is oddly charming. It is on the pricey side at $12 a drink, so I'd say this is more of the place to end the night than start one if you're looking to get buzzed for cheap. Parking is sparse but manageable alongside the road in front of the building. Put on your walking shoes because it is a high way up (the motivational posters as you hike up the staircase are cute, though). The one time I was here at night during the weekend, there was a line to get in so keep that in mind. What brings me here is their Sunday Drag brunch hosted by Kristi Waters from Babios. Check their Instagram or Facebook page for show dates and the themes (my personal favorite theme being Madonna vs. Britney). I'd recommend to anyone to attend at least one drag brunch in their life! It's such a good, positive, energizing time. Though to be honest, the brunch part is lacking because there aren't really many tables and the menu is small. In that case, I'd suggest just bringing some singles to tip the girls and grabbing yourself a mimosa.
