We had a major reconstruction project of replacing an old asphalt driveway and large broken concrete slab steps on the front hill slope, as well as building a new retaining wall across the front of our property that would integrate the new driveway and new front steps. This is our fifth house that we have either built or did major renovations so we knew the importance of choosing the right contractor! We needed an experienced contractor we could develop a working relationship with who would provide practical options to figure out the best ways to implement our design ideas. After reviewing a number of proposals, we chose working with Issac and Paramount Pavers since designing and integrating all three elements was a 'work in progress' and we wanted to work with a company owner who would also be involved in every stage of construction. We chose to put in a paver driveway and concrete slab steps and eventually decided on a large block retaining wall. He had three separate professional crews to do the work: demolition and grading, paver installation, and concrete forming. The demotion crew was amazing. The bobcat driver and crew broke up the asphalt driveway and concrete stairs, loaded and hauled away all debris in large dump trucks, regraded the complex driveway slope, and laid the driveway base material all in one day. It was very professionally done, they knew what they were doing. The paver crew started working on the driveway the next day, while the concrete crew started work on building the custom front step slab forms. All along the way Issac took our design ideas and figured out with his teams how to build what we wanted. The concrete steps were poured the following week and the large driveway and retaining wall were built over the following three weeks. The crews paid a lot of attention to fine design details which were very important for my wife and I as we had very specific ideas how we wanted the final outcome to look for our mid-century modern house. One of our neighbors even commented that he never saw crews that worked as hard as these workcrews. We are totally happy with the total project and would strongly recommend Issac and Paramount Pavers for any complex paver and/or concrete exterior projects. read more

Rudy and Isaac DID NOT FOLLOW Los Angeles City Codes. They had their crew pour concrete directly on my irrigation pipe system and the main plumbing cleanout. Also while digging to do the grading they broke a pipe on my wall. After a few weeks the cement had several cracks due to it being poured directly on the PVS pipe. PVS expands and contracts and since they did not sleeve and protect the PVS pipes the slab is now cracking even more. I brought it up to their attention and they said that the cracks were normal and that pipes do not need to be protected. Their explanation did not sound correct so I called the city and spoke to an inspector who said Los Angeles Plumbing code 312.10, Sleeves: States that clean outs and ABS pipes need to be protected. Since Issac and Rudy already got paid they are not being responsive. The city said that now I have to report them to the contractors board and/or take them to court. What a waste of time and money, I paid them to have a nice patio slab not to damage my pipes and to have new cement cracking in a few weeks, due to them not following codes. So disappointed. The subcontractors were all reliable and personable and receptive to input during their segments. Isaac and Rudy came by every day, so we could talk through the current phase of the project. There is always some inconvenience in the middle of a construction project this large, but they worked to minimize the impact. Additionally, they were able to schedule days in advance for a walk-through versus 24-48 hours "on the fly" as we've experienced with other companies. Rudy, Isaac's partner, came out to meet us on the dot of the appointment slot. Discussed thoroughly what the process is and the options were. Answered all our questions to meet our needs such as curing, reinforcement, strength of the driveway extension/slab, and drainage options. I contracted with Paramount Pavers in May 2021 for two main projects: pavers and artificial turf. The Paramount crew assigned to my projects was supervised by "Leo", with "Isaac", one of the owners of Paramount, arranging for materials and overseeing my projects. Paramount's crew was exceptional, hard-working, committed and did an overall outstanding job on the pavers' project. Leo and his crew demonstrated extraordinary skill and timely execution of every element of the pavers' installation, from initial demolition of existing reinforced concrete to laying of pavers in the backyard, curved walkways and five levels of large curved steps for the entryway in the front yard, and meandering decorative pavers around the border of the new artificial turf area. The result: a remarkable 5-Stars level pavers' project that is the proverbial "talk of the town" in my neighborhood. After comparison of estimates, backgrounds, reputations and even contract forms of nine (9) bidders, I felt the most comfortable with Paramount even though its estimate was at the higher end. Isaac was always so attentive, courteous, responsive and easy to work with. He went that "extra mile" to make sure my pavers' install and some associated brick work went smoothly and professionally. He is an absolute pleasure to work with! Isaac is a 5-Stars kind of guy! The only hesitancy I had in contracting with Paramount for my approximately 600 square feet of new artificial turf in an irregular-shaped area adjoining the front-yard walkway was my concern about their experience/confidence with installing new artificial turf. In my contract with Paramount, I required that they install the artificial turf with only one (1) seam and that the seam be in a serpentine pattern, as the other eight (8) bidders on my projects indicated would be easily achievable on this job, so they knew they would have to order a roll long enough to enable the single seam and cut the seam in a serpentine pattern. I assumed they had enough experience to know how to lay the new artificial turf roll to ensure its proper installation. Although their base preparation for the new artificial turf area seemed fine, unfortunately the install of the artificial turf itself fell short of the professionalism I had come to expect from Paramount. Paramount ended up with four (4) straight seams, three (3) of which are quite obvious in the main northerly area of the artificial turf easily seen by viewers --not hidden at its less observed opposite southerly end. On further investigation and measurement, I discovered the origin of the mishap. First, at least one 40' (or to be safe, at least 41') long roll of the 15' wide artificial turf material should have been ordered, but only about a 38' long roll was ordered ("Short Roll"), making it impossible for the installers to do the job correctly. Second, apparently, there was a lack of communication between the installers and Isaac, since had the installers (particularly Leo) notified Isaac of the shortage, Isaac could have ordered the correct roll length and solved the problem. Third, the installers layed the Short Roll out down the center of the artificial turf area starting at its southerly terminus, rolling it northerly and leaving gaps at the northerly, westerly and easterly sections of the artificial turf area, when the proper lay should have been (even with the Short Roll) starting from the northerly terminus at its brick wall and moving in a southerly direction off-center with the easterly edge of the Short Roll touching the brick wall at the easterly end of the artificial turf area and leaving possibly only two (2) seams to deal with (the 2' shortage at the southerly end and about a 7' shortage at the westerly end). But they had focused on their initial layout and did not consider how to minimize the seams with the Short Roll by reversing the starting point. Bottom line: I would highly recommend Paramount Pavers for any pavers' job you might have. They are clearly reliable, competent 5-Stars level pavers and so easy to work with. Had they performed at the same level with the new artificial turf install, I would have given them an unconditional 5-Stars overall rating. After I saw how great they did on the pavers, I felt they would measure up to the same high standards on the new artificial turf install. But that feeling proved elusive. Because of the mishaps with the artificial turf install, which I would rate at only 3-Stars, I reluctantly but in good conscious must be honest and give an overall rating on the total job - pavers and artificial turf - of 4-Stars. Knowing Isaac, he will adjust and ensure better accuracy in measurements and proper installation of artificial turf on future jobs, so I would have no hesitancy in highly recommending Paramount Pavers for your projects. read more

Paramount replaced our cracked concrete circular driveway with Belgard pavers. We love our new driveway! I found Paramount on angie's list, but I also read the reviews on Yelp. Isaac was very responsive and was on the worksite regularly. The employees came to work daily including the days when we had record triple digit temperatures. They are the best! I also appreciated that none of them smoked. Minor issues: the step lights kept going off, transformer had to be replaced. Broken sprinklers/ pipes were replaced. Isaac and Rudy are two of the nicest guys I've encountered and worked with. They were very patient with us, providing many paver samples to look at while we took a few weeks to iron out the paver and concrete design we wanted for our driveway and back patio. Once we signed a contract, they accommodated our schedule and knocked out the job fairly quickly, much of it while we were out of town. They followed our detailed instructions on everything, and the design was implemented by their crew exactly as we had hoped. Mid-way through the job, we decided to change the driveway design plan a little bit after seeing how good things looked in the patio area that had been completed. Now that the rains have come, I'm amazed at how well water drains from my patio and driveway (a major problem that they resolved).
