Hands down my favorite bar in Birmingham. The grilled cheese is to die for and the drinks are fresh. Highly recommend!

This is still one of my favorite bars and the wings are tops but was there last week and ordered the $8.99 bleu burger and fries for another $2.50. The fries are thin frites and good when ordered there but do not travel well. I was frankly surprised as the burger seemed pretty small for $9 without any sides. Sure it was prepared well but at that price point they are into Flip territory which I feel offers a better burger. read more

Such a fun place to come and enjoy some food, drink and games! I've been to Paramount many times for games and a couple of beers but only tried their food last weekend. It was absolutely delicious! We started of with their signature fries and a pitcher of Blue Moon. I opted for the grilled cheese with an order of onion rings. It was a different type of grilled cheese with goat cheese, two other cheese and tomato jam. I know tomato jam sounds disgusting but I absolutely love it so I was happy to see it on their menu. It was delicious and really hit the spot! Although it can be crowded at peak times, this is one of our favorite hangouts downtown. I love the atmosphere inside, with the industrial look that they have going on. The game room in back also looks like a lot of fun, but has been a bit too crowded the last few times we went. I love that they have bourbon flights that include skee ball or other game tickets! Check them out when it's rainy outside, and you can pick up a very tasty dark and stormy for only $5. They also offer $6 sidecars all day Saturday...and they are delicious. In addition to the awesome craft cocktails, they offer some delicious food as well. The burger and rosemary fries...delicious!! I have been going to Paramount for at least 3 years now and it never fails me. I do wish they would bring the West Virginian hotdog/hamburger back but I can sometimes create it so its almost ok. Been here a few times before and I've loved it. The bartenders are fast and the servers are nice. We have gone in with a huge group before and been served on time with the correct items. This takes much skill. The only thing i have an issue with is the consistency of the food. I've gotten items that taste very different ever time. The first time I had the mushroom stuffed pita it was the best thing I ever ate and the second time it was a soggy mess but even when i deconstructed it, it didn't taste the same. Being from atlanta my taste in bars get picky. I would definately go here again. Outside seating,great bar food,fast service for drinks, and an arcade in the back. If someone wants to get the feel of birmingham I would take them here. The staff is very nice. read more

This is a really cool place that has a trendy/hipster vibe. Nothing wrong with that at all, in fact I really enjoyed it! Our waiter was really friendly and witty! He helped us decided on what we wanted since it was our first time there. I went with the spicy chicken sandwich. It had a really nice heat level for my taste. My husband got the wings and he really enjoyed them. I think they prices were on point for the type of food and location. The bar seemed to have some very interesting drinks but sadly I couldn't enjoy them. I will definitely be back to try those out though! After we ate we headed for the game room and it was really fun! I really liked playing all the old school games! Wish more had been working but that's kind of to be expected with older arcade games. Will be back and I highly recommend for a date night! read more

Simply put: Incredible. In town for the Speech and Debate Nationals from Youngstown OH and decided to give Paramount a go. Scenic location with fairly easy to access street parking on a Sunday afternoon. While waiting for a seat (not long at all), I schooled my son on some Street Fighter II in the back-room arcade. After being seated by the friendly staff, the food was amazing. Sawmill fries with a sausage/spinach gravy, cheese and, of all things, pickled peppers may be my new favorite appetizer despite the fact that I've never seen them on any menu before. The Paramount Burger was a beautiful, sloppy mess that was easily one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The wife had The Fun Guy (a balsamic mushroom-based wrap, not me...but also me), the son had the really tasty BBQ wings and the daughter had the El Capitan burger. After a couple of Craft Beers and a drink for the Mrs, the entire family was ready for an early afternoon food nap. Highest recommendations from us all. read more

Fantastic place to get a drink and hangout with friends! We absolutely love the food and games. Great atmosphere for anything.

Went a few months back. Service and environment was good. Had to get used to the fact everyone helps you. The blue burger was delicious. The bar and beer selection was great. Love all of the old games. My boyfriend was thoroughly impressed and he can be quite opinionated with food. Needless to say he's been back many times since and loves it so nice job Paramount! read more

Paramount is really cool. It's half bar/restaurant and half bar/arcade. Only giving four stars because it wasn't super clean - some people could care less, to me it stands out - and the food wasn't bad by any means, but not fantastic. I ate the burger, so perhaps I just should have ordered something different. My friends raved about the grilled cheese. (Random, I know.) The arcade aspect is super cool - not something you see every day. I think this is one of those places that is great for a week night because on weekends it's packed. Will try again! read more

Not a ding but this is a young person bar. If you are in my age range, near 50, you could feel a bit out of place. At least at night when I have been however as bars and bar food go this is a good one. Enough craft and local beer to satisfy. Proper cocktails and the food is quite good for a bar kitchen. It gets crowded, noisy and very young. If that works for you Paramount is a go. read more

A friend and I were in town for a concert and needed somewhere to watch the Vols game beforehand. Decided on Paramount based off reviews and it more than lived up to the expectations. We may have had more fun here than we did at the concert. The place was crowded due to it being a college football Saturday but we were seated rather quick. They had great game day drink specials and the food was great as well. The atmosphere was awesome and we were lucky to meet a few more Vols fans that were in town for the concert as well that we got to watch the game with. Overall it was a great experience and will definitely return when back in Birmingham. read more

The food here was was great! I was champagne drunk when I got there, so perhaps my perception is skewed. We were in Birmingham last weekend for a show and went to The Paramount afterwards. What a great place. Good beer (they even carry Tucher Hefeweizen) and great food. We are celebrating our son's 16th birthday today and he chose Paramount for lunch with his friends. The service was top notch!!! They stored our cake until we were ready for it, no glass ran out and all of our orders were correct the first time! Sweet new venue! Kind of a two-in one to be more specific. the front rom has a sports bar feel with high top table, a large bar, a scoreboard and several TVs. The second room is filled with vintage arcade games from Ski Ball to Street Fighter. Feeling like playing hoops? Drop a quarter in the NBA Jam arcade game or stretch out and take on a buddy in an actual basketball shootout. They have al of the local brews as well as some cool specialty drinks and a full liquor bar. the food is "gourmet bar food" as I like to call it. easy to eat with you hands and simple in nature but done with high quality ingredients and careful preparation. The only drawback is that there are no similar venues nearby, so if you go here as part of a bar hopping night out, the next bar will be a drive, not a walk. read more

Who doesn't love good food and an arcade... with drinks! For a long time Paramount has been one of my favorite Burger bars. The meat is pretty well seasoned and their toppings are varied and delicious. My favorite so far has been their You're My Boy Bleu burger because I'm a sucker for a well balanced bleu cheese burgers with actual caramelized onions (and not grilled ones passing as caramelized. The sweet onions balance out the fun it salty cheese and the arugula adds that peppery freshness the dish needs all on a juicy crispy edged burger. I've had a few different appetizers and sides, all of which have been great too. The service has always been prompt and friendly and I especially love when they open the window walls in good weather for the whole indoor/outdoor experience that's so popular these days. The arcade attached makes this a fun spot for friends or dates (especially ones where you're afraid of having to force conversation, instead you can compete in some sweet games!) And you can buy flights and tokens together to further lubricate the situation. Is this the best burger joint I've ever been to? No, but it is better than most and their arcade gimmick really works and keeps me coming back for more. read more

There's not a lot for a vegan to eat here (in fact, the hummus is it), but it's really tasty, and the vibe downtown on a weekend during the day is definitely worth having limited choices. They're super sweet when you bring your dog, too, offering them their own bucket of ice water! I wish the games were like Saturn's, where they're free to play, which is why we don't go there at night, but during the day, it's a pretty cool place to hang, and the waiters are always super friendly. read more

The Paramount is great for the old school video games. Takes me back to my teen years...the good times of hanging out with my buddies on Saturday nights at the arcade before anyone thought of having PS3 or Nintendo.
