Whenever I find myself in Union County, more often than not you will find me at Paragon Tap + Table! I called in for a big party, and they did an excellent job with the table-setting & location. Secondly, the food: Their apps are absolute winners. Our table got the Bavarian Soft Pretzel ($12) and the 12-piece wings ($22). Both came out hot and full-of-flavor! Both were excellent with a cold beer. For my main, I actually got a special which was not on their main menu. It was a Fajita Burger served with (you guessed it...) fajita fries. I added jalapenos for an extra kick. It was very good, but the buns are quite thick, so I actually just ate it with the bottom bun intact. The burger patty itself is quite thick which I enjoyed in this current smash-burger phase our world is currently in. Don't sleep on a pub burger. For dessert, it was one of our friends birthday, and as you can see --- they decorated it nicely! Not "they", sorry, Sara - our waitress - did! My family and I went out to enjoy a meal, but unfortunately, our experience was completely ruined by the general manager Craig's attitude and lack of professionalism. We were seated at 6:55 PM, and our waitress had entered our order into the system by 7:02 PM. At 7:30 PM, after we had already been waiting nearly 30 minutes for three chicken sandwiches and a pasta dish, our waitress came over to apologize for the delay and explained that the kitchen was still working on our food. She then spoke with the manager to inform him that our meals had still not arrived. Rather than acknowledging the delay or showing concern for his customers, the manager reportedly told her that the timing was "on point" and that there was nothing wrong with us waiting 30 minutes for our food. When he approached our table, he introduced himself and attempted to shake my hand. I offered constructive feedback, explaining that I had noticed food coming out of the kitchen approximately every 15-17 minutes, which seemed like an unacceptable turnaround time, especially considering the restaurant was not even full. His response was incredibly condescending. He told me that I had never run a restaurant and had never taught a kitchen staff "how to dance," essentially dismissing my concerns as though I had no right to question the service we were receiving. There is a difference between understanding the challenges of running a kitchen and expecting customers to accept unreasonable delays without acknowledgment or accountability. His response was disrespectful, defensive, and completely unprofessional. At 7:43 PM, our waitress returned to apologize again because we STILL had not received our food. She genuinely appeared to be trying her best to resolve the situation, and I made it clear that my frustration was with the manager's horrible customer service, not with her. The manager had offered a gift card, but after the way he spoke to us, I had no interest in accepting it. I requested that one entrée be removed from the bill instead. Our waitress understood and took the request to the owner, who agreed to accommodate us. However, the manager apparently intervened, and that compensation was ultimately not honored. Our food finally arrived at 7:53 PM--a 50-minute wait for basic menu items. Was the food good? Yes. Was it worth waiting 50 minutes for a chicken sandwich? Absolutely not. To make matters worse, the general manager ultimately gave us only 20% off the bill, which did not even amount to the cost of one entrée. The discount itself was not the biggest issue; it was the disrespectful treatment, the dismissive attitude, and the complete lack of accountability throughout the entire experience. I want to give credit where it is due: our waitress was apologetic, professional, and persistent in trying to make things right. She did everything she could to help us, and it was clear that she cared about our experience. Unfortunately, the manager's behavior overshadowed her efforts entirely. Management sets the tone for an establishment, and this manager is the reason my family and I will not be returning.Customers should not be made to feel foolish for expressing reasonable concerns, nor should they have to argue for fair treatment after an unnecessarily long wait. A simple apology, some accountability, and respectful communication would have gone a long way. It is a shame that one person's ego and inability to handle constructive criticism could turn what should have been an enjoyable family dinner into such a frustrating experience. The waitress deserved better support from management, and customers deserve far better treatment than we received. Good food can bring people through the door, but poor management is what ensures they never come back. read more

Unfortunately, our dining experience was disappointing. It took nearly an hour to receive drinks and an hour and a half for our food, despite asking several times. To make matters worse, two of the five orders were incorrect. The penne vodka with burrata arrived without burrata and wasn't even penne, while the burger came out with nothing but the patty and bun. What should have been an enjoyable dinner turned into an over 2 hour ordeal, causing us to be late for an event. The food itself was good, but nothing exceptional. After expressing our frustration, the manager offered a $25 gift card for our table of five, which was appreciated but not particularly helpful since only one of us lives locally. There was little apology or accountability, just the explanation that it was a busy Friday night. We understand restaurants get busy, but excessive wait times, incorrect orders, and poor communication shouldn't be excused. Unfortunately, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. read more

We had come here around 4 o'clock on a Saturday and it was actually quite busy! We had sat outside with our dog and child, the inside looked very nice, but the outside was spacious enough for a stroller and a dog where you would have enough breathing room between tables. We ordered the spring rolls, the tuna appetizer, and the kids mac & cheese for the little guy, and they even have a dog's menu so we went with a burger for our pooch. Service was also great. Unfortunately, we really didn't enjoy our meal at Paragon. Nothing we ordered impressed us. The calamari was rubbery, with the breading coming off, and the giant meatball was dry and unappealing. The buffalo chicken dip was overwhelmingly loaded with cream cheese and didn't have much flavor. Even the drinks were disappointing--small, weak, and not at all what we expected. We ordered a few things for the evening Brisket Fries - delicious smoke flavor on the thinly sliced cuts of meat over top cheese fries. SO DAMN DELICIOUS! Nacho - I don't think I gave this a fair chance because the brisket fries were good and hearty lol. But the nachos offered a nice light crunch texture which is needed. Wings - ordered 12 wings with split sauce. Whiskey Chipotle & Nashville Hot Dry Rub. Absolutely delicious perfect coating of sauce and the seasoning does not overpower anything. **Also I always give big props when restaurants give regular sized wings and not those smaller pieces. ** Surf And Turf Tacos- also very delicious and came with side of rice. Perfectly balanced and they didn't just fall apart. Beer Flight- I don't recall all of the names but they were great especially that seasonal beer that had warm notes of spice. Been to Pargon maybe 10 times since they opened since we are locals. Always great food and service.Tonight was different. Arrived to a very busy outdoor area. 90% of the tables inside were empty. Chose to sit inside. Big mistake! All the attention from the staff was directed to the outdoor tables. Sat for 20 minutes and the staff never looked in our direction. I noticed the other indoor tables also being overlooked. Stood up and left. One of my favorite spots to eat, both for dining and just cocktails. The restaurant is divided into two rooms, I prefer the bar side which also offers high top booths. But the other side is nice, and personal. Drinks are top notch, literally anything on the cocktail list is fire. Food is too good, the spicy duck quesadilla is insane, the tuna tartar is fabulous, short rib grilled cheese is alway a go to, and get the crispy Brussels sprouts for sure. Visited some friends recently who took us to eat dinner at Paragon Tap & Grill. Before going, they claimed Paragon was a great place to get food. From the outside, it didn't look like anything special or a place to rave about but I quickly learned why it was all the talk with them. Since it was a Saturday night, they had a nice crowd and the place itself had a feel of both a sports bar and a brew pub. The one side was more of a sports bar type of feel (or setup) and the other half had more of a brew pub type of feel. After looking at the menu, I decided to go with the healthier choice so I ordered the Drunken Parm Sandwich. I wish I took a picture of the sandwich when it came out because it looked very good and like it was made fresh. Almost immediately, the server came over to me to let me know that they made me real chicken rather than the vegetarian chicken and said she would take it back for the vegetarian chicken. I opted to keep it since I knew there was a chance it would probably get thrown out. I took one bite of the sandwich and I have to say, it was one of the BEST chicken parm sandwiches I've ever had. It was piping hot and tasted fresh. From the chicken, to the sauce, to the bun, it all tasted fresh and practically melted in my mouth. It was a little on the salty side but aside from that, it was made to perfection. To top the night, as we were paying the bill, our server Maya (who was very friendly and tentative during our visit) handed me a take out container with the veggie chicken parm sandwich in it AND the general manager Greg came over to me to apologize for the mistake and said the veggie chicken parm was on the house. It's very rare for me that this happens. I wish I lived closer to Paragon so I can go back more often but believe me, I'll be back there for drinks and dinner next time I'm in the area. The service itself was forgettable, with little attention to the overall dining experience. There are too many great restaurants in the area to justify another visit. My fiancée and I went here with our dog . Place was super cute and inviting . Our waitress MAYA, was perfect with everything we asked for between ourselves and our dog . As well as CRAIG the manager, introduced himself and noticed that we were the ones that called and asked if they allow dogs. They had a doggie menu and for our picky one it was perfect , we just ordered APPS , definitely over ordered but what we got was great, garlic parm wings, hot honey pepperoni pizza, truffle fries, burrata and the pork lettuce wraps. A creative gastropub tucked at the back of a strip mall with ample parking - very close to the Garden State Parkway. Nice bar area with high top seating, next to a more intimate dining room area. Excellent appetizers (wings and Buffalo chicken dip our favorites), great sandwiches and entrees. Wide variety of craft beers, huge selection of spirits and creative cocktails. Service is always fast and friendly. They often have live music, which was the case on the Friday we were there. Paragon is a little gem located near a Target of all places. Didn't walk in with much expectations but everything from service to food was top notch. Filet was delicious and cooked perfectly. We've been here just over a dozen times. Yes, it is a hidden gem behind the Marshall's. Great beer selection of local breweries and really good food options. On this visit we had the Truffle & Parm Fries, Steak Wedge Salad ($20) & Santa Fe Chicken Salad ($18), as well as a beer flight. The staff are really helpful in deciding what types of beers would match your tastes. Both waitresses we had tonight were excellent. Bathrooms are very clean as well. The only thing I would change is to label the beers on the beer flight (as other establishments do) because sometimes you have a really good beer, but you can't remember which one it was and maybe to turn off the music in the background when it's really busy because it can get really loud in there and hard to have a conversation with anyone else at your table. read more

Went to Paragon Tap & Table for my birthday dinner. We requested a table outside and was asked if we wanted to sit at the only table available, right next to the live music. We really appreciated being asked. We opted for inside table. Service was quick. Our waitress was friendly and when asked, provided her favorite menu suggestions. We had the calamari appetizer, surf and turf taco (? - it was 2 tacos), pan seared chicken and shrimp, and an oatmeal cookie dessert with vanilla creme. Calamari was ok; a bit greasy. Pan seared dinner was tasty. Comes with Brussel sprouts which were shredded into the dish, not whole or half pieces. For the tacos, I had a choice of flour or corn, which was very nice. Came with rice and beans, which were flavorful, but barely warm. Dessert was nicely presented, yet the vanilla 'creme' was a wad of icing and the garnish of three tiny cookies which tasted stale. When our waitress checked on us and we advised of the rice, she said, "I'll tell the kitchen", but did not offer to heat up or replace. When the manager came by before dessert, we advised on the positives and about the rice. He apologized and said, "Wait right here. I have something for you guys." Then he never came back. For a $100 meal (including 1 drink), I would have liked a better experience. read more

It's a large two sided venue, with outdoor seating, live bands on certain days, & is in a large shopping complex, so plenty of free parking. My server was polite, & quick with taking my order. Her lack of attention to a specific detail I wasn't too fond of, but I actually opted not to mention it. I ordered the Street Corn Dip, Truffle & Parm Fries, & Bavarian Soft Pretzel. I enjoyed the dip A LOT, & the Fries were great too. The pretzel, which is actually (3) sticks, I just didn't care for. Not a big deal, but in spite of the fact that I ate 1/2 of only 1, my server never acknowledged it & didn't offer to take it off of my bill. I could have said something, but sometimes I just like to observe & give a true review. This was such a time. The busy level was low, so can't use that as an excuse. Our party of 3 came towards the end of happy hour on a Friday. The bar was full so we took a high top across from the bar. Fortunately the staff allowed us to order happy hour food even though we weren't at the bar. For apps, we got the Parmesan truffle fries and the shrimp bao buns. I could've done without the shrimp bao buns, as they lacked flavor and had one shrimp in each bun, but I loved the Parmesan truffle fries! They paired well with the aioli. After a little time of not visiting, we came back tonight for a great dinner. There's a new manager (used to be bartender) and unfortunately I didn't get his name. He is a fantastic addition to the restaurant, extremely knowledgeable about the draft beers and menu. He was so quick to offer everyone at the table a type of beer they were interested in, and bring as many samples that were needed for anyone who had questions. Not only do the ly have dog friendly seating, but an actual doggy menu with appetizers and dessert! $5 for a barkcuterie app and $5 for hot chicken. Our puppy licked the plates clean. We humans ordered the calamari for an app, and were blown away. Its rings only and doesn't come with the Boeing marinara, but rather a lemon garlic aioli type of sauce that made it even better. My lief and turf tacos were so incredible I lost track of where I was. My hubby got the turkey burger and said it was above "good", which trust me is a compliment. We ordered the peanut butter explosion for dessert and enjoyed it with the live music on the patio. I could not believe the dessert was gluten free! Do not be deceived by the fact that this place is in a mini-mall! Yum!!! Now that I have a 4 year old, it's a struggle to find a place that has good kids food and good adult food. This place has it all! We'll have to come back and try other items in their extensive menu. Here's what we got: Pretzel - good 3 pretzel sticks. The cheese sauce is delicious. Other places you'll get a little cup. This is a pretty generous dish so you won't run out of cheese. Kids sliders and fries - the fries have a good coating, the burger is juicy, the buns are toasty Hawaiian roll taste. (Also has all the other typical kid options) Steak and ravioli - omg if you like mushrooms this is the dish for you! The ravioli were stuffed with mushrooms. The sauce was perfect. Under the steak was a bed of spinach with roasted red peppers. Very good. The table does not have salt and pepper...you don't need it. Everything is well seasoned. Filet - comes with rosemary potatoes and veggies. My husband got this. He was happy. I was too busy with my food to evaluate his but he liked it. Dessert - they bring out a tray. You pick the item. We opted for the chocolate mousse/dirt cup option. The other options were various cakes. The dirt cup was goooood. Light ----as in fluffy---good texture of crumbled cookie. It's a pretty big difference place and it was packed. Lots of big groups and families dining out. Adult groups and various families with kids. Will definitely come again. The duck quesadillas have a ghost pepper sauce which is mildly spicy. I love spicy so it was perfect, it could've been spicier but I understand some people can't take it! WOW! Why have I not come back here for 7 years? It was again....excellent. We made reservations for a Saturday night and they were honored on time. We began again with the fried calamari which was again superbly seasoned, served hot and fresh, and very tasty. Portion was generous. My wife again ordered the Turkey burger with a side salad and was very pleased. I ordered the maple bourbon glazed salmon which came with Jasmine rice and topped with Brussel sprouts and small pieces of sweet potato. It was excellent. My wife and I both sent back clean plates. We had no room for dessert. I did not look at previous review before I went so I had no idea we had ordered some of the same items. The service was excellent and friendly. The prices were very reasonable and I would say cheaper than other establishments for what we ate. There is a huge parking lot so there is no need to worry about parking. Nonetheless loved the combination of pear and walnut liqueur in my drink! Food was good....nothing worth raving about. But definitely tasty and fresh.
